We loved the cottage, very comfortable and well equipped, bed very comfort, good quality shower, kitchen very well equipped, lounge very comfortable, cottage nice and warm and cosy. A basket of lovely goodies left by the owners. Thank you. Hartland village excellent for pubs, food and handy shop and we did attend the farmers market, as we were there the first sunday of the month, we bought some excellent local produce for the week, I recommend the vegetable stall and the local venison, and trout from the local fisherman. We also ate at the local pub The Anchor Inn had great service and food the evening we arrived, the Wreckers Retreat in Hartland Quay excellent food service and good value for money, and a lovely walk and views, great for sunsets and a short drive from the cottage, we also enjoyed Fish and Chips at the local shop on Friday night which is just a very short walk away. We really appreciated the being able to walk to the local pubs and shops and really enjoyed the friendly community feel in Hartland. For a cold winter break in February we had a lovely relaxing time just what we were looking for we will definitely return.

Bay Tree Cottage was a perfect stay for the 2 of us and a Golden Retriever. Stair gate very useful for keeping him downstairs! Bed was comfy, house lovely and warm, the most amazing welcome box we have ever had! Owner popped by to check everything was OK, lovely to know its locally owned by people living there! Hartland itself was a very friendly village for humans and dogs. Had meals in both the Kings Arms and The Anchor, good food, great beer and fantastic service in both - more dog treats in the Kings Arms! Great local dog walk through the vale - just a few minutes walk from the house. BPS Taxi based in Clovelly - fantastic service. Bus to Clovelly handy for coast path walking in both directions. All in all one of the best cottages, best locations and friendliest places we have stayed in over the last 5 years whilst walking the coast path in Devon and Cornwall.

A lovely comfortable cottage in an excellent location. Friendly village with convenient shop and pubs.
Ms Oxbury
We loved staying in Bay Tree Cottage. It is very well equipped and really pretty with lots of extra touches which make it a joy to stay in. We liked being right in the centre of Hartland and so close to the shops and pubs but also having a sunny private garden and parking space. Hartland is a lovely village, very friendly with a great farmer's market , pottery and printmaker and beautiful walks to the coast and through the woods. A perfect place for a peaceful holiday.

We had a fabulous stay at Bay Tree Cottage. The house is perfect for a lovely week away. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable, spacious and very well-equipped. The allocated parking space just round the corner made things very easy. The outside seating area was also really nice - we didn't have the weather to use the BBQ that is provided but we did manage a couple of cuppas in the sun. The communication with the owners was excellent. There really isn't anything I could fault about the house and I would highly recommend it. The location in Hartland is also good as you have a few shops, pubs and a coffee shop on hand. Plus there are lots of places to visit in the surrounding area...Hartland Abbey is definitely not to be missed. All in all, we had a brilliant break and would happily stay here again.
Mrs Morris
Loved , Hartland a community village and exploring the area, roads are narrow which we are ok with us , but some might struggle.
Miss Allen
Bay Tree Cottage is situated in a lovely quiet village with shop, post office, cafe and several pubs all within walking distance. The cottage is exceptionally clean and comfortable and has everything needed for a restful holiday. Lovely walled garden with grass and gravelled areas which was a sun-trap despite the mixed weather during our stay. Pubs and cafe are dog-friendly and there are nice walks from the cottage, we especially enjoyed The Vale, running alongside a stream. Several beaches within a short drive.
Mrs Herbert
Bay Tree Cottage was beautifully furnished and a very comfortable property to stay in. It was very well equipped and there was a lovely welcome pack on arrival, including an Easter Egg!
Mrs Lloyd
This was the perfect location for my third week walking the south west coastal path. As a cancer survivor, setting out on my 100 day quest to raise money for Penny Brohn UK in September 2024, this quaint cottage became my base for days 12 to 17 as I completed 136 miles of walking and 20,000 feet of climbing. The comfy bed each night was blissful after my punishing daily schedule and with such a well equipped cottage to return to we were able to cater for all my needs and wanted for nothing. The Owner was very welcoming and friendly, inviting us to call past her home whilst walking. Bay Tree Cottage is so well placed for this 45 mile section of stunning coastal path walks around Clovelly and Hartland and it is clear that everything provided for has been done with the enjoyment and comfort of the guest in mind.
Mr Carradice
Lovely location right in the middle of the Village, close to all the pubs and shops, but still really quiet. Thank you Stu and Pauline

Was exactly as shown on the website; light, airy, very well equipped and beautifully furnished and decorated. The hamper of useful extras fantastic. We enjoyed meeting the Jill - very welcoming owner. Hartland was a great base to explore the surrounding area with shops and pubs in the village and easy access to lovely walks both coastal and cross country.
