Little Yeo
North Devon is renowned for its unspoilt coastline, sandy surfing beaches, rugged cliffs and gentle, rolling countryside inland. You will have the best of both worlds at Little Yeo, which lies in a quiet rural setting just a few miles from the pretty coastal villages of Instow and Appledore and upriver from the market town of Bideford with its attractive quay, seasonal boat trips to Lundy Island and historic bridge over the River Torridge.
This single-storey cottage offers chic stylish furnishings with little touches throughout that will delight the eye. The open plan living area benefits from a fully equipped kitchen, perfectly positioned dining-table and a joyous sitting-area offering a lovely cosy sofa to snuggle into. Enjoy a book whilst the wood-burner keeps you toasty warm on those chiller evenings, the thoughtful owners will have the fire ready for your arrival so all you have to do is strike a match!
As you walk up the corridor you will pass the shower-room before you reach both bedrooms. The first bedroom offers a sense of calm and tranquility with a gorgeous three foot single bed and crisp white linens. The second is a spacious double bedroom with sumptuous king-size bed and vintage furniture adding to the beauty of the surroundings which is accessed via a few steps!
The large south west facing garden feels very private and away from the owners' house. Enjoy lovely views out over the large enclosed garden and the patio, which catches the best of the summer sun. Super little cottage in a peaceful area. Beautifully decorated and well equipped. An ideal spot for a get away break.
Mrs Barnes
It is a lovely cottage and felt very welcoming. It is really well equipped with even a washer dryer. And lots of comfortable throws if it is chilly. As well as the log burner The beds are very comfortable All in all a lovely place to stay. And the added bonus of very friendly owners. We hope to ho back next year xx
Mrs Wade
We loved our stay at Little Yeo, the cottage was very comfortable and clean and the welcome pack of goodies was very much appreciated. It was lovely to sit in front of the wood burner in the evenings, sipping a glass of wine, after a day exploring the area. Dog owners need to be aware that the garden is enclosed but not secure for inquisitive dogs. We visited Northcott Mouth, near Bude, it has plenty of sand when the tide is out. Also there is a lovely refreshment kiosk nearby called 'Sip & Sea' which serves very good drinks and cakes. At the weekends there is live music and a food van too. Other dog friendly sandy beaches are Westward Ho! (some restrictions but plenty of space for our four legged friends); Instow and Woolacombe. All are well worth a visit. Definitely try the local Hockings ice cream - delicious. We had a delicious Sunday lunch at The Hoops Inn - highly recommended. We highly recommend Little Yeo and hope to visit again before too long.

Lovely comfortable clean cottage , but if your dog is an escapologist the garden is not suitable .
Mrs Ledson
We had a lovely stay in Little Yeo. The cottage was perfect for the two of us and our dog. We stayed in every night as it was so cosy and really enjoyed making our dinners in the kitchen which had everything a chef could need. The small touches made it feel so special and personal .. I won't spoil the surprises but so much appreciated. It felt like home from home. We had some fabulous beach walks and enjoyed the nearby forests each morning with our dog. It was wonderfully peaceful. Thank you so much.
Mrs Gregson
Would highly recommend this property in a lovely quiet area . The decor and cleanliness was of very high standard and ideal for a dog . The owners made us very welcome too will definitely go back to this property
MR FRENCH
This cottage was just perfect in every way. A beautiful, cosy cottage in a wonderfully quiet location but with easy access to local resorts such as Westward Ho, Instow and Appledore. Inside the cottage you had every thing yo needed so all you had to do was to bring your clothes. It was clean and the furniture and beds were very comfortable. Outside the cottage there was a wonderful large garden which our dog loved. In the morning we would go out exploring, find one of the many great pubs in one of the resorts or just in the country, have lunch and then return to relax over a few beers in the most peaceful garden. The owners were very friendly and helpful and just let you get on with your holiday. I cannot rate this cottage and location highly enough and hope to go back next year
Mr Slater
Beautiful rural setting made for a peaceful getaway.
Mr Ralph
Highly recommended for those seeking a rural and secluded relaxing place
Mr Black
Lovely cosy cottage, well equipped, (although there were no matches for the wood burner). Fresh flowers, wine, the cream tea and milk were a lovely thought and very much appreciated. We were out all day exploring so unfortunately by the time we got back it was a bit too chilly to enjoy the garden and the barbeque. A visit to Appledore and Instow for a Hockings ice cream and walk along the beach is recommended. Lots of lovely beaches and walks nearby. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, but the kitchen has everything needed to cook a meal if you wanted to.
Mr Smith
Lovely cottage, well equipped and very clean.
Mrs Efford
Beautifully equipped cottage well away from everything, if you just want peace and quiet it's a must. The welcome wine, scones jam and cream were a nice touch and the milk very welcome.
Mr Smith
Nice quiet location with easy access to Bideford and the coast
Mr Peter W Wedge
Lovely little cottage in a very peaceful setting perfect garden for relaxing and listening to nature
Ms Drabwell
A lovely cottage, fairly remote but in a lovely setting.
Mr Walker
In the middle of nowhere. Access via miles of one lane, potholes, uneven lanes. Storage heaters heat the property during the night! Their is no fuel for the wood burning stove and the booklet instructions are vague ! The parking area ,shows space for two cars ! Only adequate space for one car! Dog friendly. ! Enclosed garden. , but not secure ! You have to keep your your dog on a lead due to local cattle/sheep/horses plus cars/tractor .2
Mrs Warrington
We loved Little Yeo. It was just perfect for us.
Mr Abbott
Peaceful location Comfortably furnished. More than adequately equipped to meet every possible requirement.
Mrs Lawless
A stunning cottage in a stunning location although rural it was easy to get to amenities. The rural setting is beautiful with many lovely scenic views walks around the immediate area. Everything about the cottage was as stated in the description and the directions to the cottage were spot on. Definitely somewhere I would love to visit again as there are so many lovely places to visit very close by. All we wish was we had booked a week instead of just four nights!!
Mr Longson
Great location, very peaceful, ideal for getting out and about.
Ms Bridgland
We had a really enjoyable family holiday at Little Yeo. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. We were impressed by how well the space within the cottage is used and it worked really well for us as a family of four (2 adults, 2 children aged 10 and 8). We were out and about most of the time, but still had plenty of space to relax in the cottage in the evenings. We also really enjoyed the outside space. Despite the grey weather we enjoyed several meals outside in the area shown in the photos. The girls ( - and parents) had a lot of fun playing in the good sized garden. Locally we enjoyed a challenging (hilly) family bike ride around the lanes and a visit to the local community shop at Buckland Brewer. Weatherwise it was a grey week, but it didn't stop us from getting out and about and enjoying both the coast and countryside. Our top tips for family days out: (1) Body boarding at Saunton Sands - we hired suits and boards there. (2) Biking along the (much flatter) Tarka Trail. We brought our own bikes but we could have hired them at Fremington Quay. We were also impressed by a couple of cafes which have clearly made the effort to go 'plastic free' - Saunton Break Cafe at Saunton Sands and The Glorious Oyster just off the Tarka Trail near Instow.
Mrs Gossan
Lovely cottage in a very peaceful location. Home made cake and bottle of wine on arrival very much appreciated. Owners very friendly without being intrusive, gave us lots of ideas of places to visit and where to find good pubs ( the local one is fantastic, great food and very welcoming). We would certainly consider returning in the future.
Mr Edmonds
A very well appointed and comfortable cottage in a beautiful part of Devon. Even though we had some very bad wet weather we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Even Flo, the dog, had a wonderful time!
Mrs Entwistle
Lovely situation for our next leg of the South West Coastal Path. Great location for visiting Westward Ho, Clovelly and Instow. Our dog Jess really appreciated the stick pile, nearly as much as we enjoyed the home made cake and bottle of wine!
Mr Rosson
We had a lovely stay in this cosy cottage. The surrounding area is really beautiful and relaxing. You can only hear the birds and the sheeps, no cars. If we decide to visit South Devon again next year, I'll would be happy to book this cottage again. Its very close to all tourist attractions you'll have to see. We want to thanks Classic cottages for the beautiful en relaxing holliday. Kind regards, Bjorn en Cathy, Oostkamp, Belgium.
Mrs Cartledge
A wonderful idyllic cottage , the owners were so friendly and didn't mind our dog roaming about, the wine , cake and flowers were a special touch especially after the long drive down there . We loved hearing all the animals so really felt as though we were in the middle of nowhere but felt close enough to amenities . Westward Ho! beach is a must .
Mrs Lloyd
Real home from home. Clean, quaint, comfy - lovely owner who popped round to make sure we were ok. Gorgeous home made cake and wine left for us. What a lovely touch! Thank you! Def would return
Mrs Bennett
So very friendly and a wonderful location.
Mr Thomas
Beautiful location and so quiet, only the sounds of birds and sheep, for a Townie it was idyllic.
Mrs Knighton
Loved the cottage, tastefully decorated and is so well equipped it has everything and I mean everything you would need. Would recommend to friends, a great base to see North Devon.
Mr Hilton
Well appointed cottage in a very rural and woodland setting. Ideal for touring North Devon . Friendly welcome and none intrusive owners .
Mrs Wild
Myself my two daughters and baby granddaughter all had a lovely relaxing stay. The cottage is in an idyllic location but close enough to get to all amenities nearby.
Mrs Newmarch
We had a really lovely stay celebrating our wedding anniversary and taking our baby on her first holiday. The owners made us very welcome and the cottage had everything we needed to be comfortable and happy.
Mr Hughes
Even tho I was nursing a recently broken shoulder we found the cottage cosy and comfortable. We had a lovely week and enjoyed visiting the surrounding areas and just relaxing. Thank you for making us so welcome and given the opportunity we would return for another week. It is a well loved and well looked after cottage and it was a joy to stay in. Thank you.
Ms Murden
Having thought the cake and wine in the photos were just for decoration it was very touching to see they were real...and delicious! Little Yeo is a beautiful property with friendly owners (and a beautiful young springer spaniel). We and our two spaniels spent a lovely few days there. We'd definitely recommend and expect to be there again this time next year.
Mr Kearsley
Little Yeo is a gem. Set in a quiet location with only the sheep & rooks to disturb you. Upon arrival the owners had left a home made sponge, bottle of wine and smarties for the boys. Both were friendly as was the cat. The cottage was clean and cosy. Plenty of room out side for the boys to run around. Instructions for the cottage are to hand along with a list of pubs/attractions. The Coach & Horses at Buckland Brewer is a must. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Mr Schofield
A lovely and well-equipped cottage for any quiet break
Miss Kaya
We had a very enjoyable, comfortable and relaxing stay; the location was peaceful and secluded, which was perfect for a restful getaway. It was close to many tourist attractions and not too far from the beaches which was ideal. The cottage was very comfortable and cosy and the seating area outside was a lovely addition. The flowers, home-made cake and wine that were beautifully laid out on arrival, added a very welcoming touch too!
Mr Gopp
It is a very nice cottage with a beautiful peaceful surrounding. The owners are very friendly and the meadow in front of the cottage is perfect for dogs. We really enjoyed our stay there. Futhermore the cottage is very well equipped and the decoration is lovely.
Mr Stanley
If you like a quiet secluded place to stay then this is ideal
Mr Boothby
This cottage is very good for walkers
Mrs Hunkin
Little Yeo looks so pretty in the photos but it does not convey how beautiful and tranquil it is there. I would recommend it to anyone. The owners are lovely and nothing was too much trouble. If you want to visit Bideford, Appledore, The Big Sheep, Westward Ho!, The Milky Way, Barnstaple etc. they are all within a short distance. Anyone with children will love it. We took our nephew who is 2 and he loved the garden to play in and especially the cows in the field opposite! All in All a fab place to stay.
Miss De Villiers
Little Yeo was a lovely little cottage to stay in. It was extremely comfortable and the owners went out of their way to make us feel at home by baking a lovely cake and leaving some wine. Beautiful surrounding areas with lots of areas to explore and hike in. Would most definitely recommend this as a place to stay to others.
Mrs Schulz
This was a very nicely furnished, comfortable cottage in a beautiful, quiet location, with very friendly, welcoming hosts. In September, though, there is little sunshine in the garden due to the beautiful, surrounding high beech trees. Nevertheless, it is a wonderful place to stay.
Mr Sutton
This was a very comfortable cottage with lovely surroundings and the owners were lovely people.
Miss Oakley
1/ Outside Area not well maintained The outside of the cottage was all overgrown and blocked a lot of light coming into the cottage. Both the garden furniture and patio were very dirty and in desperate need of a clean. The little pots/ baskets were not very well maintained or looked after. We found dog poo on the garden from previous guests which was not very pleasant for our children. 2/ Damp The cottage was very damp and despite having the windows open for the whole of our 2 week stay did still smell. 3/ Cleaning / Change of Bedding The owner did kindly provide a change of bedding after our first week, however, it would have been much nicer and more restful to have had the cottage cleaned, bedding change and towels replaced after the first week. This is something that is done very well abroad as part of a rental but not so common in the UK.
