The Old Piggery
Nestled on the outskirts of the pretty Cornish seaside village of Porthtowan, up a windy track, this very special barn is the ideal 'get away from it all' destination. The Old Piggery is a picture-perfect semi-detached property and will delight either a small family or couple simply wanting that extra bit of space, and there's room for your loyal pup too. If you need to do some work whilst away, there is also superfast broadband available so you can have a quick catch up if you need to.
Tucked into a little sheltered private setting, this well presented home-from-home has oodles of parking right outside. Leading up from the parking-area step into the open plan sitting-room and take a 'pew' for a moment or two, and you will instantly feel at home. Comfy sofas can be found creating a wonderful ambience. Step up into the galley kitchen/diner, the foodies will love the modern kitchen where seafood feasts and hearty breakfasts can be prepared. Leading off from the sitting-room you'll find your two very comfortable bedrooms and family shower-room. Outside, there is a useful cold shower, ideal for washing wetsuits, surfboards and muddy paws. The sunny sheltered garden, reached via a little pathway to the side of the barn, is perfect for a morning coffee listening to the birdsong.
The golden sandy beach and blue surfing seas of Porthtowan are a 20 minute walk away. After a busy day on this gorgeous beach, why not head to the beachside Blue Bar, a great spot to enjoy an indulgent hot chocolate or chilled glass of wine. There is also a wonderful beach cafe selling delicious home-cooked food, a great little surf shop that can kit you out with boards, wetsuits and lessons, and miles of sandy beach to walk along at low tide - perfect if you're bringing your four-legged friend. After a fun filled day soaking up the Cornish sun and building sandcastles on the beach there is nothing nicer than enjoying locally-caught fish and chips on the beach wall whilst watching the sun set.

Mr Ryan
This is a comfortable and beautiful property, owned and managed by lovely conscientious people who are a delight to deal with.
Dr Ballinger
A charming place to stay in, but be warned of roadside walk to beach is not relaxing.
Mr King
An excellent cottage with all the necessary amenities. Close to the beach and local area. We had a very comfortable stay and will return soon.
Mr Glendinning
The Old Piggery is a lovely little cottage with everything you need to be a base whilst holidaying in Cornwall. It gives close access to both the South West Coast path and the Cornish Tramways Coast to Coast route for walking (and cycling). Porthtowan has a lovely beach and the Moomaid Ice Cream parlour by the beach is worth repeated visits. It is easy to get to the A30 which provides access to anywhere you would want to visit in the entire county. We had a wonderful stay and hope that we can return soon.
Mrs Welch
Perfect little cottage in a lovely spot near a great beach Porthowan just down the bank that's not too overcrowded . The only downside was that dogs are only allowed before 10am and after 6pm . Perfect for exploring Perranporth and the little beauty spot of St Agnes. Just book you wont regret it !
Mr King
Clean, comfortable and cosy cottage. Nice touches for our Christmas stay. Ideal location for North Cornwall activities.
Mrs Allen
Lovely bright and colourful property with well equiped kitchen and comfy beds. Fabulous shower and plenty of parking. Only gripes were steep driveway and sofas which were low with low backs and deep seats so difficult to sit in comfortably if tall or short or older. Think they are aimed at people that like to lay on their sofas more! Given that we would come back as it really is a fabulous place.
Mrs Best
We had a really wonderful stay at The Old Piggery. Cottage is very comfortable, spacious & well equipped in a great location with access on foot to the SWCP. Enclosed garden was great for our dog and the outside shower really useful. Sally the housekeeper is wonderful, very helpful & responsive. Definitely recommend & look forward to staying again. Thankyou
Mr Jones
We had a lovely stay at The Old Piggery. It was ideally located for visiting Cornwall’s great beaches and scenic views. The cottage was comfortable, relaxing and well equipped. We would definitely book again.
Mrs Thompson
Everything about the cottage was good. Little garden was perfect for dog and morning coffee. We had Everything we needed in the kitchen. One point, the sofas are low and very soft, not good for disabled, infirm or just have difficulties getting in or out of chairs without arms. Younger persons will love them .
MRs MacIntyre
Sally’s reception is always warm and welcoming. She is willing and there to help and go the extra mile with any requests. This was our second stay at The Old Piggery and I’m sure we will be back again!
Mr Burke
Had some problem logging on but with some help we logged in. The week went very well, a very comfortable retreat for tired midlanders.
Mrs Horribin
Great for walkers but not for the elderly unless you want to drive every day.
Mrs Amos
The property was amazing, beautifully styled, furnished and bright. The pictures on Classic Cottages website are lovely but the Piggery is even better in person. The hosts Sally & Jean were lovely, very helpful & informative. The location is beautiful too. We can’t wait to visit I again, we had a wonderful week.
Mrs Richardson
The Old Piggery is a truly beautiful little cottage in a most amazing part of Cornwall. The cottage itself has been well thought out and is excellently equipped without making the space too crowded. Wifi is high speed and parking is plentiful. The beds are very comfortable, the shower is clean and easy to use and all linen, cutlery, crockery etc is in excellent condition. It's a short walk to the perfect for surfing and sandcastles beach in Porthtown which has a plentiful choice of eateries (one pub, two cafes) for a beach of its size, as well as a surf school and incredibly friendly and helpful locals and staff. The local shop is well stocked. The cottage caretaker (Sally) is very responsive to any queries and went above and beyond to make sure that the holiday was a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable week. We highly recommend a stay at The Old Piggery (just leave space for us to book again too!)
Mrs Dimond
Lovely accommodation, a nice welcome tray of goodies upon arrival, the accommodation is very spacious and well equipped, there are plenty of places to visit nearby. I would definitely recommend a stay at this property.
Dr O'Connell
A pretty, cosy cottage with a sweet garden. The owners, Sally, Jean and Neil, were kind and helpful. The location is stunning - a short walk or drive to the beach, which was wonderful for surfing and body boarding, and the coastal path is beautiful. Highly recommended.
Ms Brown
Lovely cottage in a convenient location, very clean and lots of lovely extra touches provided.
Mr Smith
Lovely place to stay with 2 children. Not suitable for the elderly.
Mr Brassett
A comfortable, well-equipped and, above all, clean cottage. A pleasant garden that catches the sun in the afternoon. About a 20 minute walk either to the village or to the coastal path.
Mrs Musselwhite
We loved this cottage, it was comfortable and cosy, well equipped and in a beautiful location. Sally was so lovely and sent messages before our arrival and during our stay to check how things were. We would highly recommend this cottage.
Mr Crees
We really enjoyed our experience at the Old Piggery. The cottage was beautifully presented and it proved to be a warm and cosy place to stay.
Mrs Girdler
My husband, myself and our elderly dachshund had a truly lovely holiday in the gorgeous Old Piggery. It exceeded our expectations in every way and we are very happy to recommend.
