Ref: 2305 / Port Isaac
Anchorage
Situated up above Port Isaac, Anchorage nestles amongst its elegant neighbours in a popular terrace overlooking Port Gaverne cove on the north Cornish coast.
From its elevated position this stunning Victorian house, lovingly and skillfully restored to provide an exceptional home-from-home, boasts breathtaking panoramic views across the sea, cliffs and coastline. The seascape forms the backdrop to the spacious and welcoming sitting-room, which leads into the glass-roofed dining-area where delicious meals can be prepared in the modern, well-equipped kitchen.
Throughout Anchorage, neutral tones complement the original Cornish slate-flooring in the kitchen and the tiles used in the bath and shower-rooms. As the house is in true 19th Century style, staircases lead to all the bedrooms, split over three levels and each with its own bath or shower-room. The sitting-room and two bedrooms have full sea views, spectacular whatever the weather.
Step outside, and dine al fresco in the landscaped, enclosed terraced garden, gather round the fire-pit and enjoy special moments together or pull up a chair on the delightful front terrace and simply sit back and relax as the sun sets out to sea. This really is a terrific house for a family gathering, celebration or a group of friends who simply need an excuse to get together.

Ms Anderson
The Anchorage is a really perfect choice for a large family group. The bedrooms, all with en suite, allows everyone in the group to have private space, while the communal areas downstairs are large and comfortable for everyone to enjoy sitting/eating together. The outside views at the front are stunning and the location is excellent for local walks. The live music at the Golden Lion is worth checking out!
Mrs Jones
Beautiful property in an amazing location. It is like a large family home with plenty of space and stunning views.
Mrs Tabberer
We throughly enjoyed our Easter holiday at anchorage, amazing sea views, lovely rooms, great bathroom facilities for all guests and a fabulous base from which to explore North Cornwall, would love to return.
Mrs Burton
Perfect property for a large gathering, warm and welcoming for a winter break.
Mrs Lavers
Can't beat the views and great house for a large group in a perfect location.
Ms Burnett
A beautifully presented and spacious property with stunning views from the front terrace. We love to cook and the kitchen was really well equipped.
Mr Everett
Anchorage was a spacious, comfortable and excellently presented "home" for a large family reunion for a week in June. Absolutely fantastic location with stunning views.
Mr Brown
A lovely spacious house in a wonderful area
Mrs Woods
Lovely house, spacious, great sea views, generously equipped and with some beautiful extras - like lamps and pictures - which added to our pleasure.
Mrs Morris
Great house in an excellent location. Outside areas could have been tidied up.
Mrs Grain
Anchorage was the perfect place to stay for our family holiday in Port Isaac. The views and location were absolutely incredible. Even the garden views to the back of the house were lovely. The house is a short if steepish walk to Port Gaverne where the cove is beautiful and perfect for swimming. With a lovely bar and hotel. Port Isaac is a 15 min walk in the opposite direction down hill and just gorgeous! The house felt warm and welcoming on arrival and had everything we needed and more. The gardens, front and back, were stunning. Decor and furnishings were lovely and stylish, the “lived in” feeling only added to the relaxed charm and atmosphere of the house. We’ll definitely plan to return soon.
Mrs Walsh
The house is perfect for large groups and the location is wonderful - we enjoyed many walks along the coastal path and it was only a short drive to the beach for surfing. We were particularly appreciative of the drying room which meant we never had to climb into cold, wet wetsuits! The view from the living room and bedrooms at the front of the house is incredible. It was wonderful to go to sleep with the sound of the waves. We loved the downstairs living space which was so cosy, especially with the twinkling Christmas tree. Thank you so much.
Mrs Gentry
Our group of friends all enjoyed our time at Anchorage for its ease of accommodating us all. Its location is breathtaking and gives you many options to eat out in either Port Isaac or Port Gaverne, it helps to share it about. Would recommend to families or groups of friends most definitely.
Mr Beckett
Fabulous location with stunning views and lots to see and do. Great pubs and restaurants in the local area. Polzeath is a safe local beach and Padstow has much to offer. The accommodation is generous and well equipped, clean and tastefully decorated. There is little need to leave the immediate area, so perfect for those large family/groups who just want to chill and enjoy each others company.
Mr Hearn
The view from the house is exceptional and not fully shown by the photos. The local walks, restaurants and further views are tremendous. A really great holiday - looking forward to returning.
Mr Brown
A great, dog-friendly place. Comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Big kitchen and multiple dining areas. Great views.
Mr Carpenter
The location is fabulous and walkable into Port Isaac/Port Gaverne. The parking can be hit and miss outside the property and the allocated parking behind the property is quite tight but adequate for two cars. It was great to have six en suite rooms although room six is a challenge for less mobile. Overall a relaxing and chilled place for our party of 10.
Ms Wade
Anchorage is an absolutely wonderful property and I would recommend it wholeheartedly . Everything is top quality especially the beds which are probably the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The views over Port Isaac are stunning. It rained quite a bit when we were there but no problem - we had an amazing house to stay in!
Mrs Boobyer
Very well positioned property with sea views, coastal walks and excellent restaurants within walking distance.
Mrs Maguire

Amazing location and views
Ms Pardee
Fabulous house, lots of room for us all, and would love to go back! We’ve stayed in a number of cottages around Port Isaac and this was the best by far.
Mrs Smith
A very comfortable and spacious house, a real home from home. Our party ranged in ages from 2 years to 71 years and we all had a wonderful holiday.
Mrs Tillyer
Beautiful, comfortable home in a perfect spot with easy access to Port Isaac and Port Gaverne. Sea views are breathtaking! Our two families felt instantly at home here. We really did not want to leave - a week at Anchorage was not long enough.
Mrs Cheshire
The Anchorage is in a superb location with wonderful views. A particular bonus is having two private car parking spaces (gold dust in Port Isaac). For various reasons we had to bring four cars and as it was low season we were lucky enough to park the other two cars on the roadside opposite the house instead of having to use the public car park. The house was spacious, warm and comfortable for our party of eight plus dog, a welcome benefit is have en-suite shower/bathrooms for each bedroom. Unfortunately, because of the wild, wet and windy weather, we couldn't use the pretty and well kept garden, but we still managed to get out and about. When we did stay indoors there was enough space for us to do our own things - read, watch TV and do jigsaws! Because the kitchen was so well equipped we were able to enjoy some superb meals at home, plus we also had a very good meal out at Port Gaverne. A very good house for large parties.
Mr Slack
Excellent location and ideal for a large group. House is well equipped and fully met our needs
Mrs McFarlan
Anchorage is a great house for a family holiday. Plenty of indoor space and sitting outside watching the sea is a dream. Swimming in Port Gaverne is a two-minute walk from the house. And the South West Coast Path is right here too (not a gentle stroll in either direction..).
Mrs Russell
Anchorage in Port Isaac wonderful position with great views. Easy to walk to Port Gaverne and Port Isaac beach and village. Great walks over the hills.
Mr Everett
This cottage provided a brilliant base for a ten person family reunion. It was comfortable, spacious, beautifully presented, well equipped and situated in a wonderful location with tremendous views. Both the inside and outside spaces were used and we will all have very happy memories of our time spent at Anchorage.
Mr Read
Six bedrooms was very necessary in accommodating our mix of ages and were all well appointed. The kitchen equipment was excellent for our family of experienced cooks. The patio extension out side the kitchen worked really well. The views from the front of the house were extra-special. The proximity to the excellent Port Gaverne beach was perfect. Within walking distance of Port Isaac for daily shopping (Co-op, bakers, fresh fish) as well as Port Isaac generally meant the cars stayed where they were parked for most of the time. Young children loved the space to play and the hard floors downstairs were just right.
Mrs Nurse
Wonderful location with breath taking views. Anchorage was big and comfortable with enough bathrooms for a large party. We relaxed and loved the short walk to port Isaac for breakfast and cream teas. The chapel cafe is a must!
Miss Mhlanga
The Anchorage great family home and decorated nicely. Views are just amazing too. Such a warm home full of character. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Port Isaac is such a great spot with so much to do in surrounding areas.
Miss Wade
The Anchorage cottage is absolutely it idyllic. It is set in the most beautiful location away from the hustle and bustle of Port Isaac but close enough to be able to venture down when you wish. It is exactly as in the photographs. The furnishings are stylish and contemporary and for a large house it is surprisingly cosy. The views from the front of the house are breathtaking. I highly recommend a stay here. You won’t be disappointed.
Mrs Ross
A lovely find in a wonderful location and so close to all the sites in and around Port Isaac. The house is just lovely and so very well equipped and comfortable.
Dr Rommel
Anchorage is a gorgeous house. It ist large and comfortable and well equiped. We loved this home for a week very much - the view, the nice details of decoration and the nice little town Port Isaac...
Miss Hubbard
It’s a wonderful place and location to take time out , relax , unwind , cook , eat out , drink , walk , explore , hang out with friends and simply just chill out and have fun. A wonderful retreat in all ways . We will definitely be back.
Mr Peacey
Parking for 3rd car is inadequate. Local car park queues all day & parking at front of property very hit and miss
Mr Trevorrow
Anchorage is a large well furnished property in a great location with easy access to walk into Port Isaac. The views from the front of the property are beautiful and a joy to see each morning. Classic Cottages provided a customer focussed service in respect of our stay here.
Mrs Squibb
A beautiful, incredibly well equiped cottage that is very spacious and tastefully decorated. It is very comfortable with lovely views and is ideally situated in a stunning location. I would highly recommend the cottage itself and classic cottages, who are efficient and friendly.
Mr Dhaese
very suited for pets; the street is very calm
Ms Rhead
Great house with character, well placed for local facilities and with great views. Good for those who like exercise!
Ms Powell
The house is even more beautiful than in the photos. The view from the front garden is stunning and it is a great place to sit and watch the sunsets. The house is incredibly well equipped - every kitchen gadget you can think of (including newsperson coffee machine), books, fantastic range of DVDs, CDs, blankets, candles, board games, even dog bowls. The beds are very comfortable and there are plenty of bathrooms. Parking is just behind the house through the nice sized garden and Port Isaac is very charming with a couple of nice pubs and cafes. Great area for dog walking and most places nearby are very dog-friendly. They really have thought of everything and we had a wonderful stay there, through sunshine and rain! Highly recommend.
Mr Oliver
Perfect place for a family or group of friends to spend a comfortable time together. The decor is stylish and a pleasure to live in!
Miss Akram
Stayed with my family of 6 for five nights in this lovely house by the sea. My mother was most pleased with the front bedroom view of the cliff tops and the sea as far as the eye could see! It really is breathtaking to sit on the decking in front of the house with a cuppa and watch the sea roll in. Port Isaac is a short walk away for those eager Doc Martin fans, we were delighted to see the surgery, old school etc. The rooms were lovely with enough bathrooms for all which is very handy with a large group staying. All in all we came away rested and looking forward to planning our holiday for next year!
Mrs Phillipou
The house surpassed expectations in some areas e.g attention to detail in furnishings - well equipped kitchen with utensils but only one sink for such a large house. The outside area again for such a large house was smaller than expected and we would have liked more seating in the front garden so that the spectacular views could be enjoyed by all. However the living room space was great and the 2 seating areas meant that there was so much room for all. Games, CDs, equipment available to use were great. Great to have en-suite facilities in all rooms. The over bath shower needed a curtain and could not be used without splashing so much water everywhere. We were not contacted by the housekeeper whilst we were there and there were some minor issues like small damages which had occurred before our arrival - we wanted to report these. It was difficult to make contact as our numbers were international ones. The smoke alarms continuously bleeped and needed battery changing I think and we had an issue with the hot water which could have been solved v quickly I am sure. The house has terrific views and was great to bring families together.
Mrs Cole
Excellent house for three families to share. Fabulous facilities which allow super socialising! Superb views and great location in Port Isaac. Would definately recommend.
Mrs Adams
The house is a great family sanctuary for the Christmas holiday - with ample space and loads of comfort for everyone aged 10 - 80. A great location with spectacular views of the North Cornish coast and a short walking distance to great pubs with evenings of singing with the Fisherman Friends !
Mrs Tudball
We loved our stay at The Anchorage - a perfect house from which to explore a wonderful part of the world. We had beautiful weather, but I suspect having such a lovely house would make bad weather enjoyable too!
Mrs Grüttemeier
Anchorage is a great and lovely place. After opening the door you feel the welcoming atmosphere in this house. It's a perfect place for a big family reunion, especially with children.
Mr Bryant
Good views, good pub (Port Gaverne Hotel). Well equipped
Mr Cowley
A perfect house for a large group to have a very good time on the north coast. The house is newly renovated, everything works and it is beautifully decorated.
Mrs Owens
The bedroom on the 'third floor' is really on the second floor but up a separate flight of stairs. This room is not suitable for all people. My husband at 6'1" bumped his head (again!) as he went up and the shower room had a very short door and ceiling. I suggest that it says that this room is not suitable for older visitors (precarious stairs), or tall people. We did not use this room as we were also concerned that one of the children would slip down the stairs if they got up in the night. Our comments: Anchorage is an amazing family home, has the most stunning views and set in the best location. Each morning we would walk down to Port Gaverne - 5 mins - (the view you can see out of the bedroom window) and enjoy the beach and peninsular. At night we would leave the windows open and listen to the sea and the seagulls. It's only a beautiful 10 min walk into Port Isaac too! The house is equipped fantastically, everything you may need is there. We managed to cook hot cross buns! The bedlinen and towels are all of high quality and the house was cleaned to a high standard.
Mrs Scott
A wonderfully situated and fitted cottage.
Ms Filler
Lovely house, lots of space for everyone, great DVD collection! Beautiful location and a perfect holiday destination. Not much in the way of shops bar a small Co-op so do come with your basics eg milk, tea bags, wine! Towels and tea towels provided but not toilet roll. Lovely little shops and places to eat and a ferry from Rock can take you over to Padstow. We had a fabulous dinner at Rick Steins, but you need to book a couple of months early!
Miss Grimwood
Beautiful house, could not be better.
