St Andrews
Wow! This spectacular converted church has the makings for the most amazing holiday, set in an elevated position with panoramic views across the surrounding countryside and a glimpse of the sea. The large lawned grounds are the perfect place for younger members of the family to play with the security of a separate gated area for dogs, and add to that a bubbling hot tub and you'll find the whole family will be happy!
The conversion has retained lots of original features including beautiful stained glass windows, which flood the ground floor with natural light, carved stone arches and grand arched doorways. There is a large private driveway with ample parking for up to six cars. This unique property is the ideal holiday destination for families or a group of friends at any time of year.
The huge open plan living/dining-room is quite spectacular with a lovingly restored parquet floor and grand central dining-table, fit for a banquet. The cosy soft seating area is surrounded by beautiful stained glass windows and has the added benefit of a wood-burning stove to give year-round warmth.
What better way to end a day out and about on the Island than to sink into the large relaxing sofa and enjoy a glass of wine. Or perhaps gather friends around the pulpit bar for evening aperitifs? A piano awaits should you feel like an evening singalong, the perfect place to gather all the family. The modern bespoke kitchen complements the opulent ground floor and is very well-equipped for creating culinary delights.
Three of the bedrooms are situated on the ground floor and the remaining three are on the first floor. The ground floor has a convenient washroom and there is also a lovely en suite wet-room which can be accessed from the main bedroom and also from the hall. Two of the bedrooms on the first floor are vast and have stunning vaulted ceilings which add to the character of the building. There is a shower-room and bathroom on the first floor so plenty to go round.

Mr Fitzgerald
We were a family of 13 including a baby and dog. The house/church is a lovely alternative accommodation for large parties. We were very warm and comfortable during a cold April. We loved the well equipped kitchen, large fridge, jacuzzi, piano, comfy beds, plenty of parking and interesting decor.
Mr Maund
Apart from one or two minor problems we love St Andrews.
Mrs Mackenzie
A lovely house, great amenities and a great location but unfortunately very negative reception on arrival. Dirty shower room, toilet and sink. But prompt response from the housekeeping team. Broken slats on one of the beds but again prompt response from maintenance. Both inconvenient on the first day of our holiday. Dog poo everywhere in the enclosed garden with a terrible smell that we had to clear up ourselves.
Mrs Aston
St Andrews is a special place, great for multi-generational family gatherings. Living inside a converted church is a unique experience. The property could do with some TLC, a deep clean to sweep the cobwebs and dust away inside, and some weeding and basic gardening outside to make the grounds more inviting. The Church is on the corner of a fast and busy road, so not suitable for walking directly (there is no pavement), but with a car (or the bus stop outside) there are great places locally to enjoy, such as the beach and The Hut restaurant at Colwell Bay, Gossips Cafe and Off the Rails cafes in Yarmouth and, The Needles. This is a great corner of the Island for a peaceful, uncomplicated family holiday.
Mrs Knott
St Andrew’s is in a great location for exploring the local beaches and the towns of Yarmouth and Freshwater. There is plenty of large communal space down stairs and a very well equipped kitchen area. We enjoyed the views from the garden and using the hot tub and large fire pit. It was an interesting and historic place to stay. We felt the property would benefit from a BBQ, cushions for outdoor seating, repair and tuning of the piano and possibly new dining chairs.
Mrs Billings
St Andrews makes a lovely quirky holiday house in a great location. We enjoyed our stay but there were some issues and, for the high price, we expected better.
Mrs Smith
St. Andrew’s is not luxurious but it is fine for a family holiday with children and dogs and we enjoyed using the sauna, hot tub and jacuzzi bath. The patio area is great to use in the evenings and we had some great barbecues using the big fire pit. Classic Holidays answer the phone very quickly and sort out any problems very efficiently. We had a lovely holiday in a very beautiful part of the Isle of Wight.
Mrs Douglas
Very spacious and exciting to stay in an atmospheric old church with plenty of bedrooms and a huge downstairs space for our extended family group to enjoy. Great walk in shower room and whirlpool bathtub. Good location with easy access to good beaches, walks, excellent restaurants and activities for children.
Mrs Brine
If you are looking for a destination to settle in straight away and feel at home, this is the place. The property has a lived in family feel that was unrivalled to any hotel, chalet. The building is truly majestic, we took the time to sit on every sofa and take in the stunning nooks and architectural features of the building. If you are looking to indgule and feel like a king, I would urge anyone to book.
Mr Jones
great house and gardens but very much let down by the lack of wifi for over half the holiday, no TV , no sauna - all advertised - - so paid alot but didn't get what we paid for and not much reaction or pro-activity from Classic Cottages so far . Spoilt our first large family holiday
Mrs Maltby
St Andrew's is an impressive building, however we felt it didn't make for a comfortable holiday property. It could benefit from some investment internally (improved shower upstairs, deep cleaning, comfortable outdoor seating to name a few). The ground floor is dark and musty. It's in a nice location with gorgeous views from the garden and two of the upstairs rooms.
Mr Butler
The owner & the classic cottages team were exceptional from start to finish. We cannot thank you all enough for being so flexible, generous & for going above and beyond throughout the whole process. If you’re looking for a Christmas location on the Isle of Wight… this is THE one. Thank you!
Mr Hollis
Beautiful atmospheric and spacious conversion, well-equipped and comfortable with great views. We’ll be back!
Mrs Ford
St Andrews was the perfect place for my family birthday celebration. Everyone loved it - the location, the property itself and the amazing views from the garden.
Ms Miles
This is a house with great potential but for all those that like curtains over the windows when they sleep - or that don’t like spiders. Don’t book this house!
