Customer reviews

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mr Wilcox

We have stayed at Blakes Barn a number of times now. It is very spacious and comfortable. The farm is perfect for our working dogs, with lots of space for exercise. Mike and Heather are very friendly and helpful and always welcoming. We look forward to our next visit.

Mrs Thorn

The positives: the property is large and has an enclosed outdoor space with figs and grape vines. The farm has a Bramley apple orchard to pick from. The shower is nice and powerful. The downstairs bedroom and upstairs bedroom's linens are clean and crisp. There was a washer. Biscuits left (but I don't eat them). The negatives. The table and chairs outside on the patio were thick with dust and dirt. The main patio doors' runners were rusted and you had trouble opening them, but there was another set through the bedroom. The carpet behind the headboard of the bed upstairs was black whether from mould or damp. The floorboards were lifting near the patio doors which is a H & S hazard. Only one vileda cloth provided so no floor cloth ( luckily had brought own) or long handled brush so had to always use vacuum. ( which was contradictory to the eco notice posted). No welcome pack left at all. 4 scruffy leaflets . WiFi password provided though. Torch batteries had corroded but luckily had brought own.

Mrs Baldwin

Very quiet rural location! Nearest small town of Yarmouth 5 mins by car.

Mr Farrow

Excellent location, very clean and tidy accommodation, the terrace was brilliant had breakfast and evening meals outside on the terrace.was also good that the owners where on hand if needed anything.

Mrs Rushworth

Even though property is in a village, the ease of access to anywhere on the island is excellent. The hosts were gracious, professional and very helpful. The property is beautifully presented and very clean with great attention to detail with practical items provided eg washing tablets. We didn't need to purchase anything except food. The area around the village is teaming with fantastic walks and stunning views. Highly recommend.

Mrs Hughes

The cottages were tired and in desperate need of updating. Photos online look to be 10 years old. The mattresses particularly in orchard & dairy were AWFUL!! So much so that some of our party went home early through lack of sleep. We had to swap mattresses from cottage to cottage to ensure SOME sleep. Blinds broken, doors not opening. Not very clean. This is overpriced for what we received. We would not stay here again

Mrs Smith

Wonderful hosts and a very family friendly environment. We had another wonderful holiday, thank you.

Mr Sherwood

Blake’s Barn is in a quiet location, surrounded by beautiful countryside. There are few farm animals, pigs geese and hens. The kitchen area was a bit small. The master bedroom is on a mezzanine level, so quite hot in summer, as heat rose up from the kitchen area. The owners were friendly, and Mike gave some helpful suggestions for places to visit.

Miss Jones

We had a nice stay here. The weather was fab! The grounds and barn could probably do with an overhaul to spruce it up. Well used and getting tired. Guy who owned it was friendly too. Easy to get to other parts of IOW.

Miss Elmore-Jones

We had a delightful stay at Blakes Barn - comfortable, clean, all in good working order, in a wonderful location and the owners were delightful. I would definitely book it again and look forward to a return! Thank you!

Mrs Smyth

A nice characterful property in need of some updating inside. The wood burner is a bonus and works wonderfully. In a delightful location and within easy reach of Freshwater and Yarmouth. We were very disappointed with the cleanliness on arrival, especially with the extra cleaning that is necessary in relation to Covid-19.

Mrs Cakebread

Lovely Place. Made to feel welcome. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Lovely to be able to feed the pigs. And just watch and play with the animals. Very clean and well equipped. Fantastic stay.

Mr Frost

Had a great holiday at Blakes Barn. The accommodation exceeded our expectations and the owners were very friendly.I haven't been to the isle of wight for many years and forgotten just how beautiful it is , Classic cottages were excellent ,will book with them again

Mrs Hunt

If you want a total escape from traffic and noise, this place is just perfect.

MRS LLOYD

A lovely relaxing barn conversion with an abundance of character. We only stayed one week but could have easily stayed longer home from home comfort.

Mrs Gwynne

Lovely westerly I.O.W location, pretty village and very peaceful. Great outdoor space for kids of all ages to enjoy at Mattingly Farm. The Property’s were perfectly adequate, a little TLC would make them perfect!
