Thimble Cottage
Gorgeous Thimble Cottage lies just inland from Pendeen Lighthouse and the crashing Atlantic Ocean in the far western peninsula of Cornwall. Set within a hamlet in the ancient landscape of west Penwith (a National Landscape), the cottage offers the perfect base to explore one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the country. This terraced, former miner's cottage is cosy and warm having been renovated to a very high standard.
Oak floors run throughout the ground floor where the open plan sitting/dining-room has a roaring wood-burner; snuggle up here with a book after a day of exploring. The modern kitchen has all that you could want to prepare a gastro meal and has a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine. Stairs lead up to the first floor bedrooms; one houses a king-size bed, the second a double (4'6''). There is also a fold up bed (W77, L200, H29cm) for flexibility. The beautiful bathroom is also up a step on this level.
Relax outside in the sun, and enjoy peace and tranquility in the pretty garden, before you head off to visit one of the lovely harbour towns or beaches in the area.

This is our third visit to Thimble Cottage and it didn't disappoint. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you need for a great stay and the parking is a bonus. We love this area of Cornwall and there are plenty of great places to visit nearby. St Just is just a stones throw away for all of your holiday essentials and there are some good pubs/restaurants nearby if you don't want to cook. I'd recommend the Queens Arms in Bottalack for a hearty evening meal or the Old Success Inn in Sennen Cove for lunch with a view. The Fresh Cornish Fish Fishmongers in Newlyn is great for the catch of the today if you don't mind cooking and Duke Street Cafe in Newlyn for a slice of cake and cup of tea or the obligatory cream team. We will definitely be back next year.
Mrs Staines
An absolutely gorgeous cottage. Very comfortable with everything you need. Beautifully decorated and homely. The wood burner was stacked and ready to light on our arrival which was a lovely touch. We love this part of Cornwall, particularly the north coast from Pendeen to St Ives and so the location was perfect. We will be returning soon!
Ms Knight
A very comfortable cottage, very tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped in a lovely peaceful location
Mrs Pinder
Our stay at Thimble Cottage was really lovely. Tastefully furnished, comfortable, quiet and private. It was great having two good sized double bedrooms, both were beautiful with views of the sea in the distance. It is well situated to visit the gorgeous nearby beaches and coastal towns, it has easy access to the South West Coastal Path. We loved it!
Miss Schweig
We had a lovely stay. On the first day, the dishwasher turned out to be not working. The very friendly housekeeper came and went out of his way to fix it (and succeeded). The cottage is very comfortable and stylish, the only comment I have is that for tall people like us (1,84 m) some things are less comfortable (like washing your hair while squatting as the shower is hanging too low for us). Anybody taller than us would have to duck while entering the kitchen. But this is also part of the charm of old English cottages. The beds were great and the whole interior is new yet classic. The garden is quite small, the children did not really have a place to play their game of volleyball, we did take them to the football fields down the road though and they played there. The nereby pub The North Inn serves great food, really enjoyed that as well as our trips to surrounding places and beaches. Great stay!
Mrs Kavanagh
Thimble Cottage offers a warm and cosy stay with excellent decor. Perfect for two and a dog. Well equipped kitchen and excellent shower. Easy to reach local walks and not too far to drive for spectacular beaches, galleries and gardens. Penzance is just a short drive for supermarkets.
Mrs Payne
This was our second visit to Thimble Cottage and we had a great time. The cottage is charming with all that you need for a very comfortable stay. This area of Cornwall is our favourite and once again we had a great week discovering new places as well as re visiting some favourites from our last holiday. We were very lucky with the weather (for October) so were able to spend sunny days walking the dog on the fabulous beaches nearby, as well as a day trip to the Scilly Isles which I would thoroughly recommend. Have already booked for May 2024.
Mrs Lovatt
A beautiful cottage, in a stunning location, we had a fantastic holiday, would highly recommend staying here
Ms Fathers
Charming cottage in an unspoilt part of Cornwall. Have only stayed so far in the summer but think it would be ideal for an autumn/winter break especially with its log burner. Unusually for a cottage sleeping 4 it has two lovely double rooms. Highly recommended.
Mrs Charlton
A stunning cottage. Spotlessly clean. We loved it so much we've booked to come back.
Mrs Norton
Fantastic cottage, beautifully decorated and presented, and very cosy - especially with the wood burner lit. Great location within Cornwall, not far from anywhere, with lovely pubs and walks close by. We really don’t have any negatives about this property, it was perfect for our holiday, and we would definitely return to Thimble Cottage! Thank you!
Mrs Taylor
We really loved our stay in this cottage, beautifully decorated & equipped with great attention to detail. It's very well-positioned to explore the area with the coastal path and Geevor Tin Mine both within walking distance & the rest of the peninsular easy to get to via car or bus. Lovely farm cream teas & farm-based art gallery also close by. Lots of information and an OS Map provided to help us find our way around. We could easily have stayed another week!
Miss Whyte
A very comfortable, well-equipped and beautifully presented cottage which made an excellent base for exploring West Penwith. Super comfortable beds, quiet location and lovely extra touches such as fresh daffodils on arrival! Highly recommend.
Mrs Szeghalmi
Lovely little cosy cottage in a good location. Excellent directions given to find the property and well kitted out. Log burner was fantastic to have on the wet and windy nights during our November stay. Don't wait for the chip shop in the village to open, it's been closed for the last 2 years and is for sale but no signage to say so. Fantastic welcome at the local hostelry 'The North inn'. Would return again when staying in the area.
Mr Saunders
Fabulously cosy cottage. Equipped with everything you would need to cook and enjoy an away from home rest. Very warm and cosy with 5* bedding etc. Beds were amazingly comfortable. Great that we were able to take our dog and fantastic walks from the door. We rarely used our car. We will definitely be rebooking in the near future.
Mrs Payne

Dr Treffgarne
Cottage well equipped and decorated. Quiet and easily accessed. Excellent location for moorland and coastal walks. Also plenty of eating places within walking distance.
Mr Smith
Thimble Cottage is snug and cosy, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The location of the holiday accommodation is peaceful and relaxing, close to a fantastic coastal landscape offering wonderful walks.
Mr Kirby
Perfect cottage in a perfect location.
Mrs Slater
Thimble Cottage is a little gem on the edge of Pendeen, a fantastic Cornish village which has all a holidaymaker could wish for. From the cottage there are many footpaths across the fields to the coastal path or the moors above - we hardly used the car all week and the dog was a very happy lad. The cottage itself was very cosy, especially when we were in front of the log burner on a cold night. It is very well appointed - beautiful decor, a monsoon shower, comfy beds, high quality bedding and a full range of kitchen equipment. Don't miss out on a walk from the village to Pendeen lighthouse and then walk north along the coastal path to tiny exquisite Boat Cove and then on Portheras beach. Cornwall at it's best. A cream tea at Moomaid in Zennor is a treat that should not be missed!
Mr Ross
Really enjoyed thimble cottage the touches and furnishings were top notch . The location was good and quiet and Dee the dog loved the fields opposite as well as some beaches. The housekeeping team led by Ann were great I will certainly be returning

A superb retreat to enjoy south west Cornwall. Perfectly situated to explore the area.
Ms Reznikova
Thimble cottage is a real gem. It is in a stunning part of Cornwall, is beautifully placed to discover some fantastic places, and is clearly well-cared for and loved by its owner and cleaning staff. The decor and soft furnishings are stylish and impressive, the beds comfortable, water pressure terrific, and the whole cottage cosy and welcoming. Ann, the housekeeper really does a brilliant job of communicating with you, and of keeping this house in fantastic order. Try to visit Portheras Cove (the ‘locals beach’); it’s worth the walk, Pendeen Lighthouse, St Just, Marazion, Sennen, Penzance, Cape Cornwall, Mousehole…. I could go on. The ‘Dog and Rabbit’ cafe in St Just is amazing, as is ‘The Moomaid of Zennor’ coffee and ice-cream shop (ask for shipwreck ice-cream), and Jeremy’s fish and chip shop. We found the neighbours and locals in Pendeen lovely, as we found all the people we met throughout Cornwall, infact. I am trying to book Thimble Cottage for next year which tells you everything you need to know. Thank you, Classic Cottages for sourcing brilliant accommodation and not taking financial advantage of demand!
Mrs Evans
Excellent walks from the front door.
Mrs Woodruff
This is an outstandingly beautiful cottage. No expense has been spared on the furnishings, beds, kitchen, pain etc etc. Very cosy especially with the wood burner going! Fantastic attention to detail even down to goodies for our four legged friend, Mabel! Ann was a great support to answer questions and recommend restaurants etc etc You can lie in bed and see the sea....perfect!
Mr Smith
Attractive little granite cottage on the outside with a pretty garden at the front - then the cliche of 'a hidden gem' becomes a reality, what a find! Beautifully furnished and a joy to spend time in.
Mrs Kingsnorth
We had a fabulous stay at Thimble Cottage and would love to return. The cottage is beautiful and in a great location. The owners were very accommodating when we had to change our booking due to COVID restrictions. Classic cottages were very helpful too. Thank you so much. Kay Kingsnorth.
Mrs Martin
More spacious than its name suggests!
Mrs Helmy
This is a delightful, warm and cosy cottage. It is beautifully fitted out and decorated and was loved by myself, my husband and just as much by Bob Dog, who particularly loved the log burner and doggy welcome pack! We can’t find fault with it!
Ms Gutsell
We had a perfect week in excellent accommodation. Well equipped, tastefully decorated and the housekeeper was welcoming by text on our arrival. We will come here again as not only is it well appointed , we got married during our stay so it holds lovely memories for us in our favourite part of Cornwall
Mr Riemann
The perfect cottage if you want to explore the far end of Cornwall
Mrs Howell
Thimble Cottage is a beautifully renovated cosy cottage.
Mr Tarbath
Thimble Cottage is so very well equipped you want for nothing. The location of Thimble Cottage puts the most beautiful coastline within easy walking distance. The owner should be congratulated for the thought that has gone into making Thimble Cottage a Jewel in the Crown of accommodation to let for family holidays.
Mr Smart
A real home from home. Everything about Thimble Cottage was quality and comfort.
Ms Levy
Perfectly placed between Penzance and St Ives. The welcome and goodbye messages from Ann the housekeeper were indicative of the warm Cornish welcome we received throughout our visit here wherever we went. The special doggie box and Cornish shortbread were lovely touches. The welcome manual was spot on becoming our little bible for our stay. As we the maps and guidebooks. The cottage was exactly as seen in the pictures. The beds were super comfy and the shower was invigorating. The log burner was the easiest I ever had the pleasure of lighting and most welcome after the many coastal walks you'll inevitably do whilst in this beautiful part of the world. .
Mrs Woodruff
