'Stunning retreat' is the perfect definition of The Ship House and its enclosed acre of private, well-established gardens and covered ponds.

This lovely detached property lies close to Porth Kidney’s magnificent sandy beach and Lelant’s renowned links golf course, and is just a short walk from all the village amenities including an excellent pub and a shop. There is even a little railway station, from where a delightful train journey with the most striking coastal views will take you to nearby St Ives with its galleries, shops and restaurants.

Many original features have been retained, including the wooden flooring in the living-areas and the stone flags in the kitchen/diner and main kitchen – where the warmth and comfort of the big red Aga makes this the ideal property for a family gathering at any time of year.

Two spacious sitting-rooms provide space for both children and adults to relax, and the games-room, with a pool table and table-football, offers more room to spread out. A staircase leads up to the four large bedrooms, each with king-size or versatile ‘zip and link’ beds. The luxurious family bathroom boasts a roll-top bath, as does the en suite in the main bedroom.

Mrs Paton

A fabulous house, in a wonderful location, well equipped and a real pleasure to stay in

Mr Edmondson

The Ship House is a beautiful home from home.

Ms Taylor

Second stay at this lovely confortable house. Location quiet - lovely walk to the local beach in the evenings. Porthkidney glorious. 5- 10 mins walk to the sea from the beach much of the time but there is a lifeguard there 10-5 ish. It’s a dog - allowed beach but most owners control them. Carbis a 30 min walk on the coastal path and great local train over to Carbis and Porthminster beach. I’d holiday here every year if others didn’t like a change !

Mrs Payton

This is a lovely spacious property, with an amazing garden. The location is good being only a short walk to the dog friendly beach and to the train into St Ives. Highly recommend.

Mrs Jaggs

Just a lovely house.

Mr Pyper

We have been taking holidays at the Ship House for twelve years so we know exactly what we are getting and it suits us very well. All dealings with Classic Cottages were highly efficient and most satisfactory. The house was in excellent order for us; it is a beautiful property and a fascinating one. Decor and furniture are tasteful, comfortable and relaxing; all influenced by the touch, mind and hand of an artist. The age range this year was 6 to 76 and we all had a marvellous time, largely due to such an inviting, stimulating and comfortable environment.

Mr. Flack

An incredibly beautiful place. The house was so unique and the gardens were spectacular. I wish we had had a month to stay there rather than just a week. Located in a lovely neighborhood and very private.

Ms Taylor

We have been to Cornwall many times but not to the St Ives area as we thought it far too busy in August. This house, however, is in a quiet location with gorgeous garden, 5 mins to a lovely estuary walk and 15 minutes walk to an amazingly unused beach - with lifeguard - although be prepared for a good walk out to sea for a swim. (Note dogs on this beach which are usually off- lead). Porthminster beach only a few minutes on train for more accessible beach and amenities - or an hour’s coast path walk. We all - aged 3 to 70- loved the house and location.

Mr Edmondson

We've spent seven enjoyable weeks at the Ship House over the last 7years. Our loyalty to the house shows our love.

Mrs Cook

We spent a lovely week here in January - the location in Lelant was a fabulous base and the coastal walk into St Ives a very nice one. The house was very pretty, big and sprawling with room for us all - a bit quirky and rustic with a lovely fire, comfy seating, great artworks and a homely feel. The garden was gorgeous to look at - but a bit cold to sit in in early January!

Mr Potter

The Ship House is a beautiful property set in lush grounds. It is a wonderful place to stay put, and very conveniently located for a large range of activities outside. We loved it.

Mr Pyper

This is a top quality property in every way. It has real character, tastefully maintained, ample space, combining traditional elegance with modern practicality and a uniquely beautiful and enchanting garden.

Ms Adams

This is the most beautiful house in a wonderful location, with the coast path and a glorious beach only 10 minutes walk away. Comfortable and sumptuous beds, a fabulous kitchen with everything you could possibly need - an abundance of cutlery, crockery and pots and pans. 2 beautiful sitting rooms and a delightful garden that never ends. Everything was just perfect!

Ms Bradshaw

A beautiful property in a beautiful location. The house is very large and the garden full of nooks and crannies and tranquil sitting areas. Porthkidney beach is a nearby walk and very quiet. The local pub (The Badger Inn) was very welcoming to our noisy party and the food reasonable and wholesome. It was hard to leave this comfortable family home, which felt welcoming and lived in a (in a good way!)

Mr Edmondson

This is a beautiful property and clearly a family home, we love to visit and all feel instantly at home. The garden is exceptional.

Mr Best

A wonderful house which has lots of quirky character. There is plenty of space in each of the rooms including the bedrooms which are very spacious. There are two large dining tables where we took much pleasure in sharing meals together. Beautiful garden on different levels which the children had much fun exploring. Several different seating areas too & a real sun trap. Garden is also secure for children & dogs. This house has everything you need & is a short walk from Lelant beach. Would definitely recommend, a real delight.

Mrs Nicholson

This was such a wonderful place to have a rest and relaxation. So close to the beach which is huge and not very populated (unlike nearby Hayle, Carbis Bay and St Ives). Garden is incredible, although glad my children are grown as the steps and various garden levels could make for a stressful holiday. But - simply perfect for our family.

Mrs Binns

We loved our stay at Ship House, it was so much bigger than we imagined. The bedrooms were all large and the beds very comfortable. There is plenty of space downstairs, good to have a TV room separate from the main reception room, allowing choice. Have never stayed at a property with such a well equipted kitchen and to have a larder so full of herbs, spices and essentials was a joy. The garden was large, tropical looking and with several seating areas. Would definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending Ship House.

Mrs Hesse

Such a lovely house our second visit and cannot wait to go back. Xx

Mrs Pusey

We spent a lovely week in this picture perfect house. The house and gardens are so welcoming with everything you'll ever need. The beds were very comfortable and the showers amazing. We loved the walk to the beach which was never too busy. Would definitely recommend.

Mrs Cartwright

5 star accommodation. Felt like we were in a home rather than a rental. It is more wonderful than the photos suggest and the garden is amazing. A great location for exploring local beeches, St Ives and the Cornish coast. Would thoroughly recommend and return.

Mr Edmondson

The Ship House makes our family holiday in Cornwall special.

Mrs Hesse

A great holiday house a nice ten minute walk to a beautiful beach. Lovely, bright and airy so relaxing would we stay again - definitely!

Mrs Golds-Jones

A large house which has plenty of space and an off road parking area. For disabled persons, this house has many steps / stairs and a very steep garden. A car / mobility scooter is definitely required for accessing grocery shopping, beach and such like.

Mr Marshall

Beautiful house in a superb location quiet but near the beach. The garden is absolutely stunning and the house stylish and roomy

Mr Edmondson

What we love about the Ship House is that we feel instantly at home in a beautifully elegant house that retains it quirkiness and provides a welcoming family experience. Many holiday rentals are sterile, the Ship House seems imbued with the warmth and character of its owner.

Mr Edmondson

A beautiful family home providing a wonderful relaxing break for our extended family.

Ms Emanuel

Would happily return to this fine cottage!

Mrs Luce

Fabulous house, great location and wonderful garden. What a gem.

Mr Edmondson

The Ship House feels like the wonderful family home by the sea we all aspire to

Dr Herbert

Beautiful house, loved our stay Snd want to return!

Mr Harris

Lovely converted 'Inn' with rustic charm. Perfect for our family and Misty (the border terrier)! Due to the age of the building, do not expect modern finishings but that would have taken away from the experience. Beautiful location with either train to Carbis Bay / St Ives within a few minutes walk or, if you feel energetic, take the coastal path. This takes just over an hour to St Ives. The house and gardens are lovely with are to gather as a family but enough space to have your own 'quiet time'! Would recommend this to friends and would return again.

Mrs Arden

A spacious and family- friendly home in an excellent location. Stunning walks on the nearby dog-friendly beach.

Mrs Wicks

A special house, ideal for sharing with friends and family.

Mr Pyper

Judged by any criteria, this is a wonderful house for a family holiday. We ranged in age from six months to seventy years and both ends of the spectrum were equally happy and relaxed! In just one week we were thoroughly relaxed and felt refreshed and renewed. The influence of Rosie, the owner, is ever present, wholly beneficial and extremely important.

Mr Edmondson

A wonderful family friendly home in a great location

Mrs Harris

Weve said it all...a wonderful place ...and would love to return one day.

Mrs Blundell

A wonderful relaxing holiday cottage, with a delightful safe dog friendly beach less than 10 mins walk away. Something for everyone to enjoy.

Mrs Williams

Wonderful stay in this fabulous house, lots of space for everybody. The garden is a joy. Such a treat to be able to walk just down the road to the coast path and the most lovely beach.

Mrs Waring

A very special house which even as it stands would rate as 3-4 stars but which, with some modest investment, could be the most lovely house in Lelant by a country mile.

Miss Fennessy

This house is absolutely beautiful and the photos do not give it justice. The garden is a picturesque heaven. All bedrooms were absolutely beautiful. The kitchen was very easy to cook In and finally the two lounges were very cosy. My whole family were very happy here. There was only one very small concern we had as the floor boards are very thin so you can hear what everyone is saying downstairs and vice versa. But that didn't affect the absolute beauty of this house and the perfect holiday cottage. My family were slightly worried about the location thinking it might be on a main road and it would be a challenge to get to anywhere. But we were so wrong... The road is quiet. You can just walk left from the house down the road and a short path and your on porthkidney beach which I thought was beautiful and so did our dog who had never touched sand before. You could of course keep walking a long the coast to get to carbis bay or even St Ives but St Ives is slightly more challenging. There is also a pretty train to St Ives which takes 2 mins. Or if you fancy, it's a 15 min drive to Penzance and I truly recommend to keep driving and take a walk in porthcurno as it is Cornwall at its best.

Mr Pyper

This was our fourth visit to The Ship House and the age range in our party of eight was almost seventy years! The space, style and layout of the house and garden combined to ensure that once again we had a wonderfully happy and relaxing time. We feel very fortunate to be having a holiday in such a relaxing and inspiring environment. The service, both at the house and from Classic Cottages staff, was again excellent.

Mrs Bentley

This is a fantastic cottage. It's a huge... but incredibly homely, a very comfortable house. There is an Aga in the main kitchen... not that I mastered it in a week, but lovely anyway. It has a huge garden with lots of interesting areas. Just need to watch the pond with tiny children. We had 3 generations staying... it was ideal for all of us.

Mr Pyper

A beautiful house with a lovely garden and a magical family atmosphere. We know that we could not do better.

Mrs Harris

A charming cottage in a great location. Full of homely touches and character that made our holiday very special.

Mrs Benton

Wonderful spacious cottage, which is very comfortable and very well equipped. Excellent location with a short walk to the local beech and an even shorter walk to the local pub. A fantastic holiday was had by all of us and would recommend the Ship House to our friends and family. Hopefully one day we will return.

Dr Lee

Lovely house, felt very homely. Dog friendly a bonus, great for children. It was perfect for us.

Mr Pyper

This is a most attractive house with real character and plenty of space. The garden is delightful. The warmth of communication with the owner and the housekeeper is an added bonus; they both really care about their guests.

Miss Lunsford

The Ship House was lovely, very large rooms and plenty of living space. Lovely outdoor space as well. While close to train stop, the train is very infrequent and we often drove or took cabs - which was fine. Not too many amenities in the town itself, but a nice enough pub and small village store in walking distance. Closest cash point is a drive away. Overall really loved staying in the house, great space and perfect proximity to St Ives and other local attractions.
