This upside down, contemporary abode sits right in the very heart of Marazion, set back from the road and a short walk to the glorious safe, sandy beach, shops, restaurants, pubs and majestic St Michael's Mount. Park your car in front of The Old School Room, head up the steps to the enclosed front terrace and start your (car-free?) holiday.

The property has been renovated to a high standard and has three bedrooms (all with high quality Egyptian cotton linen and TVs, and one en suite) and a family bathroom on the ground floor. Stairs lead up to the spacious open plan living-room with kitchen and dining-areas, where you will find exposed beams, a large dining-table and a well-equipped kitchen-area. At the far end of the room, two comfortable sofas flank the wood-burner and patio doors lead outside to the decked terrace and huge enclosed garden with view across Mount's Bay from the top of the garden. There is plenty of room for children to play and your four-legged friend to roam.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mr Moore

We had a great 2 week break. Close to town centre, and even closer to a fantastic coffee shop! Very well fitted-out, spacious upper floor and the woodburner really heats the top floor fast (shop in town sells logs). Parking big enough for mid-size SUV, just make sure the handbrake works! They grey cat who visits isn't grumpy, just looks it ??

Mrs De Lukowicz

This was my 4th stay at The Old School Room, and I’ll be back! I have stayed her with my family before and this time I travelled with a friend and her dog. The house is perfectly located for me, I travelled down on the train to Penzance, and then a quick taxi ride with Jolly Roger’s taxis and we were there. Sainsbury’s deliver so an hour later the food cupboards were stocked and we could relax. There is loads to do without a car. We were blessed with sunny weather. So we had beakfast in the garden, went to Trehenmeere sculpture garden and had an excellent lunch! Walked on the beach, visited the Mount (for the millionth time, it never gets old!). Spent an afternoon in the galleries chatting to the owners. Walked the coast path to Perranuthnoe, where there’s a couple of cafes so had lunch in one and a cuppa in the other. It was a wonderful holiday with a dear friend and we left wanting to come back, which to me is the sign of a good time!

Miss Weaver

Fantastic property , they have thought of everything, in a great location . Highly recommend

Mrs Hill

The Old School Room is a well thought out conversion, comfortable and stylish. The parking and garden are a wonderful bonus. The location is perfect, easy, quick access to the Coast Path and beaches, St Michael's Mount on the doorstep, but a short walk to Restaurants and Pubs. We barely used the car for the whole week.

Mr McNulty

Excellent location and amazing large private garden. Well equipped and the owner has worked hard to make the property homely and welcoming. The drive was wider than expected and can easily fit two cars on. Walking distance of town, beach, park and St Michael’s Mount.

Mts Coello

Delightful house set in a perfect, peaceful location in Marazion. Very comfortable with excellent attention to detail. We would definitely use Classic Cottages again and consider staying in the house again.

Mr Donnelly

This was a very lovely house within easy walking distance of all the shops, restaurants and bars in town. We hardly used our car but it was great to have a parking space. The house itself was very well equipped and the owners were really helpful!

Mrs De Lukowicz

This was our second visit to this property. It is in a really lovely location. We came by train and it was an easy taxi ride from Penzance station and then we could walk everywhere. Sainsburys also deliver here so we arrived and an hour later so did our week’s food. The beds are comfy, the hide is spotlessly clean and really well equipped. Lovely bathrooms and fluffy towels. We loved the garden and were lucky to have sunny weather to sit outside and enjoy the view. We were visiting relatives, but also went on many walks straight from the house, over to the mount, around the lanes, along the coast path to the next cove for lunch at the cafe which was lovely. We had an amazing few days and I really hope that we will return. Thank you

Mr Hunt

This property is clean and comfortable. Central location which means we didn’t use our car for a few days. The parking space is a bonus. So near the beach but also plenty to do in the area. Lovely to get a phone call from the owner before our holiday which was a really nice touch Would definitely recommend.

Mrs Lockyer

Very happy with our short break in The Old School Room. Location was ideal for exploring the local area and an easy stroll into Marazion with parking at the house a bonus. The property was equipped with everything you need and was warm & cosy, especially with the wood burner lit! Would highly recommend.

Mrs Oliver

Lovely cottage with Cosy interior and overal well looked after. Set back from the main road in excellent location walking distance to shops, pubs, restaurants and beach and the beautiful St. Micheal’s Mount. It also has a large garden safe for children and four legged friends and a gate at the front. Well recommended if you would like to stay in this lovely little town.

Mr Loftus

We all had a wonderful stay in The Old School Room. Great accommodation in a fantastic location. The garden, with moonlit views out over the sea on an evening, added the extra wow factor for us.

Ms Leigh

A thoroughly lovely place to stay, really comfy and cosy, we felt relaxed and welcomed even with the dogs, not too “perfect”, such a great garden, beautiful view, perfect location, 2 mins walk for the beaches, pubs and town. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks!

Mrs Todd

Lovely well equipped cottage, fantastic location with large garden and parking.

Mrs Hayman

Wonderful family house right in the centre of Marazion. Only 5 minute walk to the beach and excellent transport links to the rest of Southern Cornwall. We will definitely be staying again.

Mrs Robinson

The Old School Room is an amazing property. Very comfortable and very well equipped. The garden is much bigger than it looks on the photo's and the view from the top is wonderful. There is a good dog friendly beach a short walk down Leys Lane. Can highly recommend the Copper Spoon for cakes, pastries and drinks. The Cutty Sark at the Marazion Hotel does amazing food. Would definitely book again.

Mrs Shanahan

Lovely property with excellent access to Marazion town and beach. The garden at the rear whilst very steep is amazing. We appreciated it for being a sun trap but also being up high allowing for a gentle breeze, really nice. The property has such a welcome feel to it and the kitchen is well equipped. We took advantage of the shed to store all of our beach equipment which helped enormously in keeping sand etc out of the house. The local beach in the Summer was best for kayaking and paddle boarding and swimming and really easy to reach walking in a wetsuit. For body boarding/surfing we ventured over to Godrevy/Gwithian Towans. Interestingly a lot of the cafes/ice cream shops closed at 4pm despite being the tourist season (though they were open 7 days). But then the evening did offer a range of pubs and restaurants for eating/drinking out and it meant the town felt a lot more chilled in the evenings and didn't get over crowded. Concerns about renovations next door were listened to by the owner and by the time we left the noisier work had been completed so is unlikely to be an issue for the future.

Mrs Munro

I would not hesitate to book this holiday cottage again. Very clean, perfect location, every thing you need for your stay here. Great base for travelling to other towns. Owner called a few days before our holiday to say hello, talk about the cottage and make us aware of this truly beautiful part of Cornwall. The Copper Spoon (literally on the doorstep) was our go to for take away coffee and their amazing almond croissants, Then head down to the tiny harbour to take in yet another fantastic view of St Michaels Mount. Recommend The Fire Engine Inn for food and The Godolphin Hotel for a G&T after a day exploring more of Cornwall. That view!!

Mrs Williams

The Old School Room proved to be a perfect base to explore the Cornish coast. The house is beautiful, quiet, we’ll kept with a gorgeous garden. It’s location in the heart of Marazion meant only a five minute walk to the beach, St Michael’s mount and the various amenities. The car parking space takes all the hassle out of visiting Marazion, we have a medium sized SUV and had no problems, with room for another car if needed.

Mrs Richards

We loved our stay at the old school room. Parking on the drive wasn’t easy but doable. Location was amazing Marazion is beautiful. The beach is clean and close by. Also close to Mount St Michael Pubs and restaurants all in walking distance. Surrounded by lovely walks. Also short rides in the car to St Ives. Lizard point Lands End. Mouse hole All worth a visit. And of course Penzance. The bus service is also excellent.

Mrs Rates

We read the glowing reports on the website of the welcoming Cornish tea…..but no! Perhaps it’s only during the summer. (The milk, bread and fairings were welcome anyway.) Had an excellent and very well priced meal at the hotel restaurant.

Mrs Hall

Lovely property, and a great location but needs smartening up and attention to detail upgraded.

Mrs Hume

Wonderful cottage, perfectly equipped, well placed and an absolute delight to holiday in... If you ever sell it ring me! lol My family come from Marazion and it was nice to show my husband where they used to live and farm from 1850 - 1982 ish. Thankyou for letting us stay we really appreciated the set up and Im sure the garden in the spring/summer is an absolute delight. The dog was very happy too!

Mr Hickman

The parking is a real bonus for Marazion. Upside down accommodation as the bedrooms are downstairs and this works well as the property is set into sloping terrain and there is little natural light downstairs. Great views from the garden. Only comment would be that the knives are getting a little blunt! The Victoria Inn in Perranuthnoe was great for eating out and we booked that for a second night.

Ms Stone

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the old school house which is in an excellent location for the beach and local shops, with access directly onto the South West coastal path and a couple of hundred yards from St. Michaels Mount. There is a bus stop about 50 yards away. The local people couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming and I would recommend supporting their small businesses when visiting. Particularly recommended is ‘The Copper Spoon’ just down the road for its fresh Sourdough and pastries. The house itself is an excellent home from home with all the contemporary conveniences that you could hope for. The elevated enclosed garden is private and has spectacular views.

Mrs Eason

The cottage is wonderful, very spacious and well thought out. We had a great time. The garden is fabulous with great views over Mount’s Bay from the top and it’s a real sun trap. The cottage is very well equipped and the owners have thought of everything. And such a bonus to have parking!

Mrs Tate

This is a beautiful space and is extremely well equipped; everything you could possibly need is there. The garden is huge and very natural. Parking space is a real bonus. We had the best time and felt so at home it was hard to leave. I will definitely look at staying again.

Mrs Herbert

A well appointed comfortable home with a large garden, and an amazing wood burner. We were so warm and cosy. Not our last visit by any means!

Mrs Gizzi

Excellent stay, the owners have thought of everything.. the garden is huge with a wonderful view of the bay.. Lovely touch the goodie basket of local produce and doggie treats.. would definitely recommend to friends..

Mr Harrison

Perfectly happy. Loved the location.

Mr Beard

Excellent location if you wnat to leave the car parked for a while. The garden would be superb for sitting out in the summer months.

Mr Walker

The Old School Room Cottage is well positioned in Marazion. It offers very comfortable accommodation, beautifully decorated throughout, and very well equipped . The spacious garden , with views out to sea is an added bonus .

Ms Jago

Lovely place to stay, well equipped, clean and beautiful house, very dog friendly and within easy reach of lots of iconic West Cornwall views and beaches.

Mrs Broomhead

We really enjoyed our time everyone in the family including the dog had a great time would highly recommend. Hope to go back one day sadly already fully booked up for next year or we would be back. Extra touches were appreciated.

Mrs Broomhead

I would recommend this beautiful house the extra touches were lovely. We will be back had a fantastic holiday. We all enjoyed it us the kids and dog. We came home feeling refreshed and relaxed wish we were still there.

Miss Shaw

Beautiful place to stay...located really well for everything..just don't put the price up too much.

Mrs Chandler

We had a wonderful time and the cottage was everything we hoped it would be and more. Fantastic location, extremely well stocked and furnished and a real home from home. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. Only one problem and that was that a week simply wasn’t long enough!

Mrs Herbert

A beautiful home well equipped in a peaceful location with easy access to Marazion. We were delighted with the generous gifts left for us and the dog on our arrival.

Mrs De Lukowicz

We had a wonderful stay at The Old School Room. The pictures really don’t do it justice. Everything was so clean and fresh. The children loved the garden and spent all of their time out there or on the Mount! The real bonus was that we ended up having a car free holiday which was brilliant. I have already recommended your company to friends who saw my photos and wanted to know more!

Ms Burdge

Our stay was just a delight and would love to go back to this fabulous cottage

Mrs Coniam

We found the Old School Room the perfect holiday 'home from home.' Anything you could possible want is provided in very high quality accommodation. Ideal in every way. Would recommend wholeheartedly.

Mr Hollis

We stayed for 2 weeks in Sept/October and really enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed the cream tea and the flowers left for us was a really nice welcoming touch - thank you Emma! It is tastefully decorated, very well equipped with everything we needed and more besides. Lovely big garden and it was shame we couldn't use it more because of bad weather. The position in Marazion is great, as is the parking space. It was also very quiet. Really comfy bed and bedding. Great en-suite shower. We hope to stay again next year

Mr Baxter

The Old School Room is a wonderful cottage. It is in a wonderful location and the mount and beach are easily walkable. There is an even nearer dog walking beach than long rock and a lovely walk on the hillside behind the cottage. The garden is secure for dogs although I did have to block a gap by the pole as my dog was taking a lot of interest in it! We caught the direct but to Penzance and St Ives to avoid traffic and parking. This was easy and the stop was near the property. I am struggling to think of any negatives. This cottage met all our needs (walkable beach/pub/Mount) and was lean with everything for a great stay. A lovely welcome ‘pack’ too, including milk, tea bags, scones and dog treats was a ‘welcome’ surprise. Book here and you won’t be disappointed.

Miss Whale

We loved our stay at the Old School Room - it surpassed our expectations. Beautifully furnished and presented, spotlessly clean, and with lots of little extra touches that made it feel special. The garden (and view from it) was amazing - the dog was in heaven. We will definitely return.

Miss Shaw

Beautiful place to stay ..central to many places to visit..wonderful.

Ms Godfrey

Beautiful, perfect cottage with gorgeous bedding and all the things you could possibly want. So relaxing, we will definitely return

Mr Eddon

Thanks for a great stay

Mrs Lindstrom

A fantastic cottage in a great location, views from the garden were great and our dog loved running around. The cottage was really well presented and we loved relaxing in the open plan living space upstairs. We'll definitely be back!

Mr Clark

Fabulous space in a wonderful location.

Mr Southward

This is a lovely cottage ideally situated to explore the southern tips of Cornwall. When we arrived there was milk in the fridge plus clotted cream to go with the scones and jam in our welcome basket. There were also teabags & biscuits for us plus biscuits for the dog which we thought was great. The large garden was fantastic for the dog it was enclosed and safe. Although dogs are only allowed on most beaches after 7 pm if you walk from Marazion towards Penzance on the coastal footpath there is a dog friendly beach that they can go on.

Mrs Davies

Lovely cottage and garden very well equiped with good quality items
