The property lived up to expectations + more. Our dog appreciated the expansive grounds. Duplicate, good quality linen was provided. Even extra laundry & washing machine detergent was provided. The welcoming homemade bread, cake & bottle of milk was very thoughtful. Highly recommend.

Mount Pleasant Lodge completely exceeded our expectations. A wonderful cottage in beautiful surroundings. We had the perfect mini-break and our hosts were on-hand and super-helpful. The homemade bread, cake and marmalade were delicious. Everything was just perfect!

Our 5th year at Mount Pleasant and as enjoyable as ever .Everything done to make your stay perfect in every way , comfort , warmth , very well equipped and garden and wildlife a bonus ! Owners Gill and Terry very helpful but never intrusive .

I would rather keep this wonderful place a secret and not say how stunning it is. There really is nothing to fault it. It's attached to the owner's property but don't let this put you off as Gill and Terry are so welcoming. I felt like I was staying with friends. If you're lucky you will arrive to homemade cake, bread and milk in the fridge plus dog treats. There are many dog friendly pubs, and places nearby, but I was content sitting in the huge garden. Mount Pleasant is my happy place and I can't wait to return.

We had a very relaxing week at Mount Pleasant Lodge in February. Gill and Terry are the perfect hosts: kind and friendly, on hand when needed but not at all intrusive. The cottage was very clean, warm and comfortable and most of all so peaceful and relaxing. We had a very wet week, but dodged the rain to visit the beaches and walk our dog in the local woods. We'd highly recommend staying here.

This is a lovely property with great hosts who live in the house attached to the lodge! The grounds are beautiful and there are lots of walks nearby. It snowed while we were there which made the place look even more magical, and we were lucky enough to see deer grazing in the garden. We were sad to leave. Thank you Terry and Gill for making us feel so welcome!

Interesting place to find initially, and some of the local lanes might not be for nervous drivers, but home baked bread and lemon cake on arrival are a lovely, welcoming extra that are worth the journey! Hosts are available if you need them, but never interfering. Very nice place to stay, have already recommended to family and friends!

This was our first stay at Mount Pleasant Lodge. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. The lodge is set in a quiet location but within easy reach of the local towns and coast. The property was exceptional and the gardens stunning. Would recommend this property if you want a peaceful setting.

We loved staying at Mount Pleasant Lodge. We go self catering two or three times a year and found the Lodge to be the quietest, most comfortable and spacious accommodation we have ever stayed in. Gill and Terry made us feel most welcome and were never intrusive. We were free to explore the huge garden and enjoyed the lovely enclosed patio seating area. All the equipment such as the cooker and microwave were extremely easy to use and the recliner chairs in the lounge were so relaxing. Lots of places to visit round about and set in beautiful countryside. What more could you ask?

Another lovely holiday at Mount Pleasant Lodge , our fourth year and as always comfortable and everything to make a relaxing holiday.Bonus this year the Deer visited two nights running ! Gill and Terry as always helpful but never intrusive , looking forward to our next visit .

Just had a wonderful week at this amazing place. If you want complete rest and relaxation this is the place to go. I left feeling that the hosts Gill and Terry were old friends. I just hope that they will have space next year as I hope to revisit, and am not in the least surprised that many guests return year on year. Felt I was staying in a boutique hotel..it's very special.

it is the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. Perfect hosts in Gill and Terry and surrounding gardens are just idyllic in every way. The location is just perfect especially if you want peace and quiet with just the birds singing. We will definitely recommend to everyone and will hopefully be back soon.

A fantastic cottage; spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and guests are free to roam in them. The hosts are on hand to help with any issues. The cottage is a great base for exploring East Devon.

This was our 4th visit to Mount Pleasant, so safe to say we love it! Gill and Terry are wonderful hosts, they make you feel very welcome. The cottage facilities are excellent for 4 adults, we have found other cottages say they are but fall short. There are lots of excellent places to visit- this year we managed to get to Coleton Fishacre, and did a Round Robin trip from Totnes- Paignton-Dartmouth and back to Totnes. The views from the River Dart were wonderful. What makes a good cottage holiday? Accommodation that is comfortable, facilities as good as home, warm and friendly helpful hosts. Mount Pleasant has it all!!

The property exceeded our expectations - from the moment we arrived the hosts (who live in the adjoining property) were super friendly and welcoming, whilst also giving us the quiet and peaceful break that we had been looking forward to. The rooms were spacious and well furnished - with quality beds and bedding. The owners maintain beautiful gardens where you can enjoy the local bird-life, squirrels and (if you're lucky) deer. The owners provide a really good welcome pack - some home-made! One of the best holiday lets we have experienced for a long while.

A very clean and comfortable cottage. Exceptional hosts who live on the same site but who are not intrusive. Lots of homemade goodies left which was much appreciated. Fantastic that the cottage is also dog friendly. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a very quiet and tranquil place but do not expect shops or pubs to hand!

Had an absolutely lovely holiday at Mount Pleasant. The hosts, Gill and Terry, are lovely and extremely helpful. The lodge is well equipped and very comfortable and felt like a home from home for us. The grounds are beautiful and you could very easily spend your holiday just sitting and relaxing whilst watching the birds and wildlife come and go - it is so peaceful. It's a great base to explore Devon, Dorset and Somerset from. Beaches are just 40 minutes away. We highly recommend Mount Pleasant - and we plan to return again next year.

Another great stay at Mt Pleasant Lodge, Gill and Terry are great hosts, the Lodge is spotlessly clean and comfortable. Love the peace and quiet and lovely to see the deer and rabbits in the garden. Already booked our next visit!

Beautiful gardens, wonderfully quiet location, good if you want to get 'away from all' Very welcoming, friendly owners who don't disturb you in any way but are there if needed. Very well appointed with everything you could want for inside, comfortable beds much appreciated! Easy to walk the dog around the extensive garden and nearby walks. The homemade cake, bread & marmalade on arrival were such a lovely treat. Would definitely recommend and return.

It is a great place to stay with wonderful walks in the nearby woods but also along the coast. We have enjoyed it very much.

A warm welcome and a lovely cottage, what more could you ask for? The homemade cake, bread and marmalade along with eggs from the ‘girls’ were a lovely touch. The cottage is well equipped and incredibly comfortable with fantastic views across the gardens. Well positioned for getting to the coast and surrounded by wonderful countryside it’s a great base for walking or just relaxing.

Mount Pleasant is a real gem, a lovely place to visit, Terry and Gill are fabulous hosts, we had a great time and will definitely be returning, we would highly recommend.

An excellent property, home from home, and the best hosts of any holiday cottage we have ever had.

A lovely large and very well equipped cottage set in extensive well maintained grounds. We saw an abundance of birds and other wildlife including a roe deer scrumping apples and a heron awaiting a visit to the large fish/lily pond. We left refreshed with batteries recharged after a lovely week’s holiday. Our hosts Terry and Gill were very friendly and welcoming and the provisions we found on arrival were much appreciated.

This has been our 3rd visit to Mount Pleasant Lodge. We have had a truly fabulous week in this “Devon Hideaway”. Gill and Terry are such wonderful hosts and the edible treats are always welcome! Visiting the chickens and strolling around the beautiful gardens are good for the soul. We are already discussing when to return for our 4th visit!

The property was perfect, peaceful, clean and very well maintained. The hosts were lovely, discreet and available if needed. The welcome pack was much appreciated. We couldn't fault this property and would highly recommend. We certainly would have no hesitation about booking again.

This is a lovely, tranquil corner of Devon, we will definitely be back. The property is peaceful, spacious, comfortable, and the owners friendly and helpful. Would echo lots of previous reviews, highly recommended. We used satnav to navigate the local lanes when heading out and about, as we hadn't visited the area before. Would recommend Ashill Inn for a meal, and a visit to Killerton NT.

Our second visit was third time luck, having originally booked for March 20, then March 21 and finally making it in October 21. Everything was as good as we remembered, and better with the addition of the shower cubicle in the bathroom. Gill and Terry are the best hosts we have ever encountered- helpful in so many ways- hence the decision to go back in 2022!! A brilliant holiday enjoyed by us all

The Lodge is central so it is easy to visit a number of places on the south coast.

Fabulous gardens, and beautiful comfortable property. Gill and Terry were lovely hosts and were truly welcoming. Lots of lovely local, easily accessible walks for dogs. Highly recommended.

2 week stay with a lot of wet weather but there was still a lot to do and see. Quite isolated but ideal for walks in the local forests (lots of routes and super views) and only 40/45 minute drive to a variety of different villages on the Devon coast - Lyme Regis, Seaton, Beer, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Dawlish. The location therefore gives a great deal of options as to how to spend the day. The owners Gill & Terry are on hand for any issues but never intrusive. The property is set in super grounds and there is an abundance of wildlife in the garden including various birds and even a fox wandering across the grass. The property is equipped to a high standard and the beds very comfortable. Newly refurbished bathroom. Tasty home made bread and lemon drizzle cake part of a nice welcome pack. Overall, an excellent cottage to hire and highly recommended.

Mount Pleasant is a lovely, well furnished property overlooking extensive & beautiful gardens. Owners were welcoming, but not intrusive, and went the extra mile to offer help and assistance in every way possible.

Absolutely superb in every respect! This was a week long stay for our 33rd wedding anniversary and we could not have chosen better. The property is beautifully presented with every comfort you could ask for, and the grounds have to be seen to be believed, just gorgeous. Gill and Terry are truly lovely people who welcomed us warmly and were so friendly but not at all intrusive throughout. A real unexpected bonus for us was the fantastic walking available directly from the property, much appreciated by our Collie dog Jake, who was also made so welcome. Definitely at the top of a long list of properties we have visited.

Terry and Gillian were fantastic hosts, making us genuinely feel at home at their property. The home baked bread and cake were very well received by all in our party, and Terry and Gillian also helped us out with a few food essentials which we needed. Terry also kindly helped us out with some emergency car maintenance. The property is lovely, and spotlessly clean and has just about everything you might need for your stay. One small piece of advice to anyone considering booking Mount Pleasant is that the roads in the area leading to the property are very narrow (one car width) so expect to reverse into passing places when you meet an oncoming vehicle. Oh, and most importantly, take exit 28 Collumpton off the M5 - do not follow your satnav if it suggests otherwise.

This cottage is Absolutely stunning in every way. The owners make you feel so welcome on arrival and nothing is to much trouble with bread cake and home made marmalade on arrival also eggs from their own chickens . They even brought us out some milk as we forgot to pick some up. The cottage is stunning with a fantastically equipped kitchen a lovely lounge with a wood burner and beautiful relaxing chairs. The bedrooms are perfect with the addition of a wetroom as the ensuite and perfect. Beautiful extensive gardens to walk your dog in which is very safe as they cant get out. The location is also good with easy reach to some good old country pubs(aprox 3-4miles) There is some great walks with loads of public footpaths to enjoy across the Devon countryside Take it from me we have stayed in a few cottages and this is far and away the best one we have stayed in 5star We will certainly be back again !

Our holiday at Mount Pleasant was wonderful. Gill and Terry made us most welcome and did everything to make our stay a joy. The lodge is warm, comfortable and very well equipped with beautiful bed linen and towels. We hope to make a return visit next year. All cottages should aspire to the Mount Pleasant standard.

This is a comfortable and very well equipped property, the owners Gill and Terry do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. The gardens are extensive, dog friendly and provide a lovely vista from the property. A beautiful and well maintained property in a beutiful tranquil setting.We were made to feel most welcomed by the owners who helped to make our stay comfortable and have us good and helpful information about The local area.The home baked goodies and fresh eggs from the family's chickens that were waiting for us in the cottage were a much appreciated welcome pack. The surrounding area has lots to offer in walks and coastal visits but due to the location of the property a car is essential. A very relaxing environment .

This is a spacious, clean and very well equipped cottage where the owners Gill and Terry have provided everything down to the smallest details to make your holiday enjoyable. The garden is very large and was loved by our dog. Welcome pack includes home made items and owners eggs. Overall an excellent holiday home and we will have no hesitation in returning.

We have had a lovely holiday! Gilian und Terry were very welcoming and they both did everything to make us feel at home! The House is so beautiful and so is the whole environment: the nature, the animals and again we met really great people. The House is equipped with everything you need and it is really cosy.

Lovely setting where you can relax. Not far from any tourist areas. The roads were good compared to some areas in Devon. Owned by a very nice couple

We highly recommend this wonderful cottage. It is spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay and has the most beautiful gardens.... what a view to wake up to each morning! It’s location is very peaceful, and perfect to explore the shores and sites of Devon, we visited Exmouth, Sidmouth, Lyme Regis, and Dartmoor National Park all within easy reach by car. Terry and Gill are amazing hosts and give the warmest of welcomes, especially the little extra’s like homemade bread, cakes, eggs and flowers, that all go towards making this a truly wonderful holiday experience. We will be back!

I really cannot recommend this place, enough. We definitely be coming here again, when we need to come back to England, maybe next year.

The cottage was probably one of the best we have stayed at, and the warmth of welcome was the best! Nothing was too much trouble, the "goodies" left for us were really nice, and even a supply of newly laid eggs in the middle of the week. There were so many places to visit we didn't cross all of them off our list- so hopefully we will return! The kitchen and dining facilities were spot on, then a lovely lounge to relax in. Beds very comfortable, and lots of storage space, two bathrooms, one a walk in shower, all beautifully warm. The view over the garden was wonderful, and so may birds to watch at the bird feeder. We had an excellent holiday- one thing that may be added is just an extra hair dryer!!!

Wonderful accommodation, acres of gardens to wander round and over and above all this, the best owners, who live on site, who never fail to to go out of their way to make you feel welcome. You are thoroughly spoilt with Terry's home-made bread, Gill's lemon drizzle cake, not counting jams, and marmalade. If you are looking for a comfortable, cozy holiday with wonderful people, this is the holiday property for you.

WE have now spent 3 wonderful holidays at this cottage. The accommodation is superb being both comfortable and inviting. Gill and Terry are the best cottage owners we have ever encountered. Nothing they do is too much trouble to ensure that the guests enjoy every facility available. They are so welcoming that you're made to feel like old friends of the family. Friends ask us where we are going on holiday and we just say"back to our second home" and they know exactly what we are talking about. Will we go again for a 4th visit, no question about it. Mount Pleasant will have to have slipped off the map before we would consider anywhere else.

There are times when rose-tinted memories doe not match up with the actual expectations when visiting a property for the second time. Have no fear of this happening at Mount Pleasant Lodge. Everything is still perfect - the accommodation, the superb gardens and most importantly of all the wonderful owners, Gill and Terry. Without being intrusive,they just can't do enough to make your holiday one you will always remember and it's good to know that there is always someone on hand to help with any problems. Their detailed knowledge of the area makes it easy to find all those out of the way places whether sightseeing, eating out or shopping. as for the treats they provide, what can you say except "yum"! Excellent service from classic cottages full of useful information and directions were perfect cannot be faulted . Mount pleasant is by far the best place we stayed in the 35 years we have going on self catering holidays. The accommodation was presented beautifully, and spotlessly clean the furniture was very comfortable and the host's Gill and Terry were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The welcome pack of Terry's freshly baked bread Gills to die for Lemon drizzle cake and the eggs courtesy of Nina and Rod's hens were very much appreciated.

Mount Pleasant Lodge is a delightful property, made all the more so by the warm welcome we received from the very helpful owners, Gill and Terry. The peaceful situation and immaculately kept grounds of the cottage added to the overall enjoyment of the holiday.

We had a fantastic few days at Mount Pleasant Lodge. The owners Terry and Gill were extremely helpful and made us very welcome. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, spacious and very well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the open plan kitchen diner and sitting around the wood burning stove in the evenings. The extensive lawned gardens and surrounding woodland were ideal for our two boys who felt very at home here along with our dog Barney. We found the Lodge ideally situated for walking and exploring the Dorset and Devon coastline so there was always plenty to see and do. All in all a great place to stay. We would definitely recommend and are already planning our next visit!

Very pleasant and helpful owners and was useful having them nearby. Lovely quality furniture and everything was in good working order. The added touches of fresh flowers and food arrival was indeed a nice welcome! Including the books and games which went down a treat for my mother and the kids.

Once you have chosen a holiday destination/property - Classic Cottages cannot be faulted. If there should be anything extra needed - our hosts were there to help out wherever possible .....It was exactly as we had hoped for - no over-hype or exaggeration

We can highly recommend this place. We had a warm welcome and after a two days drive from Germany, after arriving, we found a selfmade cake, bread, jam and eggs from Terry and Gills own chicken. It is the right place when you love nature and there are plenty of opportunities for nice walks, going to the beach and seightseeing.

Wonderful property, exceptional grounds and an ideal location for the birdwatcher. The owners, Gill and Terry, went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. The "goodies" supplied for our arrival were out of this world - Terry's home made bread which made the best toast ever, Gill's lemon drizzle cake which makes my mouth water just thinking about it, fresh eggs from their chickens, varieties of teas, the list goes on!

We have rented holiday accommodation for many years now and Mount Pleasant is the best we have ever stayed in and the best value for money. The Owners made us very welcome and the spacious and comfortable accommodation ensure the evenings would be relaxing after days out - the feeling of 'coming home' adding to the enjoyability of our holiday.

Gill & terry were the most perfect hosts and could not have done more for us if they tried. We would love to return. Absolutely stunning grounds, beautiful house, 5* beds, duvets, towels Terry and gill were such incredible, kind and thoughtful hosts. The little touches made such a difference! Felt like a 'luxury' home from home!

The property is ideally located for those wanting to explore a wider area of Devon and West Dorset. We doubt if you could ever find a property which is housed in better maintained, well landscaped and more tranquil surroundings than this. Gill and Terry are brilliant hosts and they have truly created a tastefully comfortable and relaxed cottage from which to explore this popular destination. Impossible to fault.

We had everything we wanted and the property owners were extremely friendly and attentive to our needs and requirements. This was without doubt the best property we have visited in many years of cottage holidays.

This must have been our best ever holiday cottage . The setting was lovely and the garden was immaculately cared for . Our very friendly hosts had thought of everything to make our holiday special ,delicious home-baking,fresh flowers etc. We loved the views from the patio windows with carefully placed bird feeders encouraging so many birds we have never seen before . Inside the cottage was beautifully furnished and very comfortable , we truly did not want to leave such a lovely place.

Best recommendation would be that it was "a home from home!"

The Lodge exceeded our expectations and the beautiful grounds really are a tribute to 'England's green and pleasant land'. Gill and Terry are perfect hosts leaving us a homebaked loaf and the now famous lemon drizzle cake . The property is another great asset to Classic Cottages.

This is our second break at Mount Pleasant. The property is in a wonderful location and is exactly what we look for in a holiday, peaceful, quite and relaxing with good walking in the area and dog friendly places to go if we do feel that we want to go anywhere. We booked a stay at Mount Pleasant over the Easter bank holiday because in need of a relaxing holiday and a break from the city and came back completely regenerated. The cottage and surroundings are just really lovely, even better than in the picture, well equipped to enjoy a rainy day in. It has to be said that it is the personal touch of the owners and their friendliness that make all the difference. Gill and Terry make you feel truly welcome and have been very helpful on organising local trips. We came back to London planning for our next stay back at Mount Pleasant!

Lovely spacious cottage, very clean, warm and comfortable. It was a real pleasure to stay there. The owners are very accommodating and helpful. I would highly recommend the cottage to anyone wanting a peaceful break in a nice area. Plenty of walks through the woods from the door. The only complaint I have is that I didn't want to leave.

Our holiday was an excellent one.It was the 15th time or so that we stayed in a cottage in the english countryside after a few dozen holidays camping in England,Scotland and Wales. It was one of our best holidays ever.A beautiful cottage with everything in it..A very good location in the middle of the East Devon /Black Down Hills areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.Very friendly and helpful hosts who were there when we needed them.We stayed for 4 weeks enjoying every day of it. Excellent place for Birdwatching .We could see ao the coal tit and the Great spotted Woodpecker.Walking in ancient woodland just a few hundred yards from the cottage.Honiton with his supermarkets and nice shops and restaurants is just a 20 minutes ride. Bigger towns like Exeter and Taunton are ideal for Christmas shopping.Places on the Jurassic coast like Branscombe and Sidmouth are just a half hour drive and we enjoyed our visits there in the second half of November ! Mount Pleasant Lodge is a very well appointed cottage just far enough away from the main road to be quiet and restful while only a half hour drive from the south Devon coast. Our boys enjoyed exploring the extensive gardens and watching the varied wildlife passing through. It really felt like home from home. Terry and Gill, the owners who live next door to the cottage are the perfect hosts. Warm and friendly, happy to have a chat but never intrusive. You are made to feel at home the moment you arrive and the little extras they provide, the freshly baked loaf, milk in the fridge and eggs from the chickens in the garden are the icing on the cake, and with regards to the Lemon Drizzle cake, very tasty icing it is too. Worth every penny and we will certainly visit again in the future.

The whole holiday was superb, every little detail had been thought of and Gill and Terry were so friendly and made us so welcome and comfortable. The area was stunning and tranquil we really came away feeling relaxed and refreshed

From its gleaming windows and immaculately clean interior , this cottage is hard to beat .Likewise the gardens were beautifully kept . Gill and Terry were perfect hosts and obviously enjoy making guests happy .

The cottage was in a wonderful location for local walks or a trip to the coast or just touring around Devon and Dorset and a great place just to relax truly a home from home place to unwind and chill out in the peacefull surrounding

Once you have arrived, you must agree that Gill and Terry and family are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. Accommodation 5 stars.

This was the best cottage we have stayed in. Wonderful location, extremely well kitted out, great neighbours (the owners!) who very kindly provided home made bread and delicious cake plus eggs on arrival. We all had a great time particularly the dog, the only down side is he will consider his garden extremely pokey in comparison to Mount Pleasants. We would all recommend staying here to anyone.

Mount Pleasant is an outstanding Classic Cottage experience. There is truly nothing that could be improved upon. We stayed with a 93 YO with some disability and she was able to use all of the facilities unaided. The owners live next door and went out of their way to make us welcome and comfortable.

After very many cottage holidays Mount Pleasant is undoubtably the best. Every detail has been thought out and everything is of the highest quality. An idyllic place to stay. Diane and Terry Heaton.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mount Pleasant Lodge and the owners, Gill and Terry, made us most welcome. The cottage provides a high standard of accommodation in beautiful, peaceful countryside. The garden is a delight and we spotted numerous species of birds there as well as a deer. We would gladly return.

Mount Pleasant Lodge is a lovely cottage in a very tranquil setting. We were made to feel very welcome by Gill and Terry with home baked cake, bread, eggs and milk. The gardens are beautiful and it was lovely to wake each morning to see the wide variety of birds and deer. The cottage is very spacious, clean and comfortable and we would not hesitate to return. We had a wonderful week at the cottage in June 13. The photo's are good but the cottage and views are even better. The owners Gill and Terry made us very welcome and we will certainly be back. There were over 15 different species of birds feeding, incl a woodpecker with her young. Spent hours watching them

Excellent service all round would not hesitate to use again or recommend.
