Reviews

Just three miles inland from the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and close to the east Devon and Dorset border, this amazing renovation and design project offers guests fabulous contemporary family-sized accommodation.

Musbury Chapel has been given the most wonderful new lease of life and is now a top quality holiday home with three bedrooms, four bath/shower rooms, a huge sitting-room, a playroom and an open plan kitchen/dining-room.

There is a fully enclosed garden with open views across the fields – a lovely safe place for young children and guests who wish to bring their dogs. The chapel is adjacent to the cow maternity field of a local farm, so there may be some farmyard aromas.

The dramatic coastline here has a great mix of pebbled and sandy beaches, stunning coastal path walks and pretty fishing villages.

The flexible accommodation at Musbury Chapel is a delight; contemporary, clever and thoughtful design features have been introduced alongside the existing character of the building and the end result is a truly special property.

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Laurie

Musbury Chapel is a light airy home with lots of space, it is very well equipped and comfortably furnished. It is a special place not just a holiday let. I think it is unique. It is close to lots of places to visit and the pub up the road does excellent food. We spent a wonderful week at the chapel.

Mrs Brumby

Excellent property for family groups, the standard of furnishings is top notch. We loved every minute of our stay

Mrs Harwood

We loved our stay over Christmas at Musbury Chapel. All the decorations were magical inside and out. The kitchen was great to cook in and the kitchen's dining area was a fabulous place to sit and enjoy the view of the garden and plan our days. The garden and parking area were safe for our dog to wander around which he loved. It is in a great location from which to visit the coast in both directions.

mrs hodge

Beautifully renovated chapel . Light, bright and spacious accommodation and very well equipped for all ages. On site parking and an enclosed garden meaning children and animals are safe. Good location for exploring the Jurassic Coast.

Mrs Scotting

Loved the property, exactly as described. Very spacious with everything you need. Great setting tucked away in the small village of Musbury. Easy access to beaches, shops etc. right next door to a farm, and the cows greeting us every morning. Would highly recommend for family holidays or gang of friends wanting to spend time together. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Miss Forrester

An absolutely beautiful property which has been lovingly renovated to the highest standard. The enclosed garden with summer house was amazing for our two young children, as was the very well-stocked playroom! It was also great that every bedroom had its own bathroom. In easy reach of lots of family-friendly spots to visit and some lovely beaches. We also went to River Cottage for breakfast which was fantastic. The nearby village pub was also brilliant, very friendly owners and great food. Couple of small points - be prepared to be potentially visited by some nosy cows looking over the fence while sitting in the garden and also for their aromas, which the description does make clear. The kitchen is very well-stocked equipment wise and the welcome pack with milk, biscuits etc is a lovely touch, but there are no pantry basics aside from salt and pepper, so be prepared to shop for everything if you plan to cook.

Mr Stanfield

Wonderful lace and location, the perfect holiday family get away. Secure garden for the dogs was excellent and the place was extremely well kitted out, like home form home. We will definitely be back.

Mrs Knapman

Wonderful quirky cottage in a lovely location- very handy for exploring the lovely Jurassic coastline . A visit to Beer and Branscome is a must. The standard of the accommodation is second to none with all comforts catered for.

Mrs Stevenson

Stunning accommodation in a lovely setting

Mrs Rissmann

A very nice location. Very good for families with children. We loved the well equipped kitchen. It was very nice to sit in the garden and watch the sunset. Ideal location to explore Devon and the Jurassic Coast.

Mrs Hammett

A tastefully decorated chapel. Great location, stunning views of open countryside. Everyhting you could possibly need for a relaxing break

Mrs Peto

Lovely home, really comfortable and well equipped: fabulous location- so much to do and see that we didn't have to leave immediate area.

Mrs Peapell

A very lovely holiday home would recommend it for adults and children, the only downside the first bedroom ensuite with bath shower over is only ok for children having a bath as no shower curtain or panel, also a very tight sloping ceiling for an adult to stand. But a nice shower room downstairs.

Mr Taylor

Everything worked for a lovely holiday, totally relaxed.

Mr Taylor

Musbury Chapel was our first stay using Classic Cottages - it won't be our last! ??

Mrs Tipton

Such a very bespoke property and furnished to a high standard , And a very nice quiet village .

Ms O'Sullivan

This house is even better in reality than in the photos. It is very well-equipped for children and for dogs with lots of seating and comfortable bedrooms. The views from the property are lovely and it is an ideal base for exploring Seaton, Sidmouth, Beer, Branscombe and Lyme Regis. The chapel conversion is well done and it is well worth paying a visit!

Mr Stinchcombe

Very good, easy to use and great communication throughout.

Mrs Sharman

A fantastic place, full of character with every comfort and amenity. The area is full of interest for all ages from young to grandparents. Will definitely return

Mrs King

Lovely spot easy to go to all the local sea side resorts. It was nice to see a chapel being used because so many of them are shutting down

Mr Malt

Musbury Chapel is the best house rental I have ever stayed at and I have stayed at quite a few. The accommodation is gorgeous, with some fabulous nods to its heritage. Well appointed, clean, tidy, great place to stay!!!

Mr Gatcum

One of the very best cottages, being a superbly converted Chapel. Blessed with lovely sunny November weather so made good use of the bi-folding doors in the breakfast area. Ate out at The Hind, the local Pub on a Saturday night and found the traditional Pub food to be good. If you think you may go for the cottage do, you will not be sorry.

Ms Gandolfo

A lovely light and airy property with a very useful playroom/den for children to have their own space.

Ms Lipscombe

Musbury Chapel is a beautiful property which exceeded expectation. An excellent destination for adults and children

Mrs Brice

It has ever thing for 3 generation holiday. 99% perfect!

Mrs Mardon

Exceeded our expectations. A beautifully converted chapel completed to a very high standard throughout. Huge spacious living area, the benefit of a snug room too and a light filled kitchen with bifold doors to the sunny patio and garden with views across fields and lovely sunsets. It was quite chilly outside during our stay but the property, despite its size, was warm and cosy. The Kitchen itself is very well equipped - they’ve thought of everything. A great location for exploring East Devon and Dorset. We felt very welcomed in Musbury Chapel - loved the honesty wine crate. Great back-up support from the housekeeping team. The local Spar shop also carries a good selection of locally sourced produce including an excellent selection of fresh breads and we also shopped at Millers Farm Shop five minutes drive away, worth a visit - excellent produce. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Musbury Chapel and would love to return.

Mr Parker

The overall quality of the fixtures and fixings were of a very high standard.

Mr Hall

Musbury Chapel is an excellent choice for a family holiday, we had a great 2 weeks and really enjoyed our stay. The property has been beautifully renovated and full of character and all the furnishings and beds were very comfortable. It was especially good for dogs as the garden is fully enclosed and secure, and the ground floors are all easy to keep clean. There are several interesting walks on the doorstep, so no need to use the car every day, but also lots of places to visit within a short drive. The property is very well equipped including books, maps, games, puzzles and piano - lots to do on a rainy day. The village shop/garage was handy, but if you want to eat in the pub (Thu-Sun only) make sure to book ahead.

Mrs SWEET

We loved our stay in Musbury Chapel! It's a beautiful place, with stunning views and we loved the fire! Would highly recommend staying here, we hope to come back!

Mrs Biggin

Lovely place to stay! With the wow factor! Great for us, very child and dog friendly. Perfect location too ??

Mrs Rowdon

Superbly fitted out property to a very high standard. Very sophisticated heating system that proved a little challenging to understand, with ease. The housekeeper was of help but perhaps some simple instructions so that guests could access the heating, when required ,would be good. At present it suggests ‘ don’t touch’!!!!

Mrs Laurence

Great location. Excellent for families.

Mr McConnell

We had a wonderful repeat visit to Musbury Chapel. The chapel is a delight and very well fitted out and a lovely place to relax in. Kitchen, in particular has everything you might need. Even the weather was good!

Mrs Beale

The cottage was lovely, the addition of the playroom and toys made my granddaughter’s holiday very special

Miss Jarvis

A beautifully converted home in a fantastic location - highly recommended!

Mr Hart

This was the most wonderful stay in an absolutely stunning building and everything about this place is perfect - the most glorious interior and gardens. This was our base for our wedding in Lyme Regis and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We really could not have asked for anything more and hope to return again at some time in the future. Many, many thanks.

Mrs Coates

Just stunning! Hoping to return. Thank you to the owners for sharing their holiday home with us.

Mr Hoeschele

We spent 2 wonderful weeks at Musbury Chapel. It really is an exceptional holiday cottage, from the outside maintaining the character of a chapel whereas inside it is beautifully restored and designed. It is obvious that the owners lived there for some time and had thought of every detail. Everything we needed was provided, even lots of toys for children. We also enjoyed the beautiful view from the outside sitting area. The housekeeper did a great job preparing everything beautifully. Shopping : small SPAR shop 3 minutes walk, large TESCO supermarket in Axminster (5 miles away). Eating : The Hind, a great pub, just 3 minutes walk.

Mr Coates

Had a lovely Christmas week would definitely recommend

Ms Llewellyn

Excellent cleanliness levels and well equipped if cooking. One of the beds was not made up upon arrival, however, they came to rectify the problem within an hour or two. Would thoroughly recommend the chapel and area.

Mr Treise

Be aware the tall people may find the Bathrooms awkward.

Mr Shirtliff

Excellent accommodation within easy access of sea and countryside. Shop and pub in easy walking distance. Our Granddaughter enjoyed discovering all the many toys and books. Probably one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

Miss Clark

We had a wonderful 4 days at Musbury Chapel. The location, interiors and attention to detail was perfect. It truly felt like a home away from home. An excellent location, and the chapel had everything you'd need for a holiday away with families with children and pets. Can't recommend highly enough.

Mr Slaymaker

A lovely property in a good location for exploring the Jurassic coast. Very well equipped with fantastic views over the Devon countryside.

Mrs Smith

Wonderful place. Really was home from home and everything was thought of... spotlessly clean. We will definately be recommending the Chapel and would be happy to stay here again if or when we visit Devon again.

Mr Joy

The cottage is an absolutely wonderful space in a great location for east Devon & west Dorset. The added home from home touches made it a pleasure to come ‘home’ to and those days when the weather was inclement meant staying ‘at home’ was equally enjoyable.

Ms Morley

One of the best rental properties we have stayed in. It felt very much like someone's home, rather than an impersonal letting. The space is great for families or groups of friends, with acres of room to gather in the living area, or at one of the two dining tables. The views from the kitchen are lovely, and the garden is thoughtfully planted to give privacy and make the most of the views.

Ms Inglis

Wow, wow, wow! We were blown away with the beautifully restored chapel. Everything thing that we needed was provided, including everything for our young children. The location is perfect, with a short drive to Lyme Regis, Seaton and Beer and a mixture of sandy and pebble beaches. An amazing place and we felt lucky to stay there. We also hope to be back next year.

Mr McAlister

Lovely building and the mix of old and new items within was just right and interesting. Everything we could have wanted was provided.

Mr Attwood

Overall this is an excellent facility with a wonderful family/homely and relaxing feel to it. Can't help but love the neighbouring cows that come to meet you on arrival.
