The Old Mill

The Old Mill is truly a fantastic place to stay. It’s so different from most holiday cottages, where else can you see swallows roosting the other side of the glass! The renovation of this property is amazing, such attention to detail, the property has been furnished beautifully and the kitchen is really well equipped. The owners are very friendly and helpful. It really is a delight.

We had a lovely week at The Old Mill and would highly recommend it. We loved the peace and quiet of the countryside and were able to totally relax in the cottage. It had everything we needed and the design is so pleasing, i.e. mixing the old with the contemporary. Very nice owners, helpful and friendly, comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen and lovely grounds. We would certainly return. Thank you.

Beautiful property in a perfect location, so quiet and peaceful....if you need to get away from the madness of every day life this is the place to visit. Even my two young sons (12 & 14) had a fantastic week which was our biggest concern but they loved it!! The owners left us a lovely welcome pack which included some treats for our dog which was a lovely gesture. This is probably the best property we have stayed in and would definitely recommend it.

A delightful Old Mill with many original features incorporated into a beautiful refurbishment. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay in a very pretty setting.

We really liked The Old Mill, full of character & lovely fixtures & fittings. Weather permitting, the small balcony is ideal with a view over the fields & peace & quiet. Dorchester is a lovely town with some good shops & plenty of nice places & choices to have lunch. The Fox & Hounds pub is just down the road from The Mill, they serve food & the staff & locals are really friendly. The owner of The Mill has converted this property to a high standard & I am so pleased I chose this place for a week away, the only downside is the week flew by so quickly & I was reluctant to leave.

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Mill! Everything was perfect - the surrounding (nature at its best) and the cottage itself with all the amenities. We especially enjoyed the different outside areas to relax, so did our dog! Lots to sniff and explore there! Highly recommended as starting point to explore Dorset!

A beautifully restored old property, which is spacious and comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet, private place to stay, but also wants to visit the many attractions that this part of Dorset has to offer.

Beautiful converted mill with all of the modern conveniences to make us feel very at home. We visited Wareham Blue Pool and Lulworth Cove and would heartily recommend both.

Great location and lovely clean cottage. Extremely quiet and peaceful and the grazing sheep in the afternoon was a bonus. Perfect for us to catch up with friends and relax with the dog. The night sky was worth the gaze.

The Old Mill is marvellous and exceeded our expectations. We have never been disappointed with any property booked through Classic Cottages but this was a complete gem. A beautifully renovated mill in a perfect rural setting with welcoming and non intrusive hosts. There are plenty of places to visit close by including a very good pub, the Fox and Hounds a leisurely 15 minute walk down the road, rivalling the option of relaxing in the comforts of the Mill. A perfect holiday!

We absolutely loved this property! It had everything you could think of. It was clean, fresh, the property was stunning! Would go back again that is for certain! The only negative was having to keep the dog on a lead when going outside, but that’s just a minor thing!

The Old Mill is a beautiful conversion in a lovely part of Dorset. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and The Mill is well sited for visits to key Dorset attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Fabulous place to stay, has all the home comforts with a touch of luxury, we stayed a week in Autumn, would love to go back to experience it in the summer, as grounds and views are lovely, couldn’t fault it, and the local village is in walking distance with a great, dog friendly pub!

Absolutely gorgeous. The restoration of the mill is wonderful and the decoration is superb. A lovely spacious kitchen with more than we could have hoped for - the wine cooler was a real bonus. The location was fabulous - the dog loved it too - being able to run in the large grassy area was her idea of heaven. The hosts, Carol and Neil, were always chatty and friendly and there if needed.

Delightful; stylish and comfortable with a warm welcome from the owners. A peaceful location on a network of footpaths with easy access to the A37 and beyond.

A beautiful property, tastefully furnished to a high standard. Glorious location and some good walks with the dog. The sheep are an added bonus! Would only say dog owners need to keep their dogs on leads when not actually in the house as the sheep free roam around the property.

Fantastic conversion of the old flour mill, into a cozy welcoming property. Great amenities with lovely bathrooms. Peaceful location and friendly welcoming host.

This cottage certainly has the wow factor. The conversion has been so well done that it keeps original features and combines them with modern comforts. Dog friendly too which is always a bonus. Dogs have to be kept on a lead outside due to the owners sheep being in the field, but this wasn’t an issue for us. Well equipped kitchen, wanted for nothing with extras such as cling film, foil, kitchen roll etc provided which hasn’t been the case with other holiday cottages we’ve used ( they weren’t booked through Classic Cottages). The owner also left us some cooking apples which we enjoyed. Definitely a home from home, thank you.

The Old Mill is a lovely converted Mill in a quiet piece of the country side. ( passing trains are rarely noticed ). Well equipped, & plenty of comfortable space for 4 adults. An easy place to relax & feel at home. Super kitchen, ideal for those who wish to rustle up a sumptuous meal. Happy to recommend.

This property is well worth a visit, giving you a feel of the old water mill but with all the mod cons, living with nature an the sheep only yards away, a truly memorable stay in a very well converted mill to a very high standard. We would recommend this property as it is up there with the best.

We had a wonderful and relaxing break. We very much enjoyed The Old Mill, which was extremely comfortable, and the wonderful Dorset countryside and coast. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The beds were extremely comfortable and we were delighted to find that the quilts were not too heavy. Lovely to see some of the old features of the mill retained. The girls enjoyed sampling the wide range of different teas provided, which was a lovely touch.

The Cottage was perfect for 4 of us in such a tranquil location . The decoration was beautiful and all furnishings and equipment were to a high specification. We thoroughly enjoyed our first English holiday in many years and will return!
