We would unreservedly recommend The Coach House for two adults and a dog. It was all you would expect a holiday cottage to be. Helpful and friendly hosts, very comfortable, well equipped, excellent quiet location, with a generous garden ideal for a dog.
Mrs Davison
Great location within easy reach of many interesting places … local pub very good and also the Thimble Inn at Piddlehinton! Also very handy having the well stocked village shop and post office opposite the Fox Inn . Spacious garden to enjoy with or without a dog !
Mr Martin
A lovely spot hosted by welcoming, accommodating hosts. Nice private garden with access to country walks and a good local pub. Highly recommended.
Mrs Cooper
State clearly that the second bedroom has 2ft 6ins beds and be aware the heating goes off on the 1st April come what may.
Mrs Pardoe
The Coach House gave us everything we needed: tranquility , access to wonderful countryside and views, beautiful journeys to local pubs for supper (with generous portions!) and to so many places of interest, including the coast. It was most comfortable ,very well cared for and suited us perfectly. Thank you Jane and Richard, we hope to return.
Mr Pymont
The property is in an excellent location, both tranquil and peaceful but near enough to amenities that you may need during your holiday. Add into this the welcoming hosts and you have everything you need for a perfect holiday.
Mr Chauncy
Yet another fantastic stay in this gorgeous setting. Jane and Richard were as hospitable as ever and we luxuriated in the peace and quiet of the Dorset countryside. Casper our 2-year-old Cockerpoo loved his cross-country walks and it was great to have our beloved Dorchester and Poundbury within easy striking distance. This has to be the best value for money you can get in Dorset and we have stayed in many cottages over a sixteen-year period. We look forward to returning in the Autumn.
Mrs Ashby
Clear and easy to use
Mrs Gwillim
The Old Coach House is a cozy, comfortable cottage, well-located for a relaxing break with some great days out. Beautiful views from the large back garden. Friendly, helpful owners. This was our third visit and we very much enjoyed our recent stay. Would recommend and would definitely come back another time.
Mrs Holder
Well placed property with easy access to many interesting places to visit. Surrounded by good infrastructure with a good pub/eatery and well stocked shop close to hand.
Mr Chauncy
If you are looking for a peaceful setting in a comfortable cottage, this is the place for you. Ideal for touring the surrounding villages and towns, and its close proximity to Dorchester; an interesting place, especially Poundbury. Wonderfully helpful owners!
Mr Coltham
Hosts Richard and Jane very helpful and wonderful hosts. Garden very secure for the dog. The cottage is situated in a great location for visits out and is very quiet. Great pub and local shop close at hand.
Mr Williams
From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the owners who were lovely and very helpful. The property was perfect for us and our dog as the outside area was very secure with a large grass area and a lovely view into the surrounding countryside which was sunny and lovely for seating out anytime of day. The property is situated perfectly for exploring the Devon countryside, with a pud in walking distance minutes down the road it’s perfect. Will be booking for next year.
Mrs Watkins
This was our third stay in a Classic Cottage and really lived up to our expectations! The location was ideal, in a quiet area of Dorset with beautiful villages and beaches. The cottage itself was very comfortable, clean, well equipped and in a lovely, peaceful location. There was no noise of traffic at night only the distant hoot of owls in the spacious garden! Our hosts were very welcoming and helped to make our stay very enjoyable.
Mrs Wilson
The old Coach House is in a beautiful, peaceful location, well placed to visit attractions inland and on the coast. Our hosts were great and the house was comfortable with all the amenities we needed. We would definitely recommend.
Mrs French
An attractive cottage in a nice location with a lovely garden, secure for dogs.
Mrs Barwell
We had a lovely stay at the Old Coach House. Jane and Richard are great hosts and the recommendation of the Duchess of Cornwall pub in Dorchester was just the place to go for my birthday meal. The building, service and food were all of a very high standard. The property is a great base for exploring Dorset and it is so quiet, the only sound the birds and occasional tractor. Hopefully soon Jane will be able to put back those little homely pieces that had to be removed due to covid restrictions, I do miss fresh flowers, welcome trays and looking through book collections for something different to read during our stay. But this did not detract from the cleanliness and homeliness of the coach house during our stay. Look forward to hopefully coming back in more normal times next year.
mrs Edmunds
Comfortable cottage, secure garden for children and dogs, ample parking , good location. Pleasant host.
Mrs Ashby
Great place for peace and quiet very restful
Dr McCosh
The cottage offered everything we had hoped for, we had a wonderful peaceful and restoring holiday, thank you.
Mr Morley
Very well kept cottage with a wonderful garden in the heart of rural Dorset
Mr Gerrish
Altogether a wonderful stay. Richard and Jane were excellent hosts providing just enough contact to be friendly and helpful but still allowing us complete privacy. The cottage was warm and cosy with everything we needed to make our weeks stay comfortable and relaxed. We would love to return once covid restrictions are lifted to experience some of the extra little touches that were missing but were happy to feel extra safe in these difficult times.
Mrs Swindlehurst
Quaint building deep in rural Dorset. Enjoy the peace & wildlife.
Mrs Whistler
Secluded, quiet peaceful cottage(in the grounds of owners property) tucked away in depths of Dorset countryside . A perfect place to take dogs to, with a secluded fenced garden and wonderful nearby walks and a good local pub . Mr and Mrs Sutton were very welcoming and were on hand should we have needed anything . We would recommend to friends.
Mr Savage
We enjoyed our holiday, despite a week of very unsettled weather. Owners Richard and Jane were very friendly. Note that the north-facing garden and patio get very little sun (whatever the weather generally). The dense trees - although in themselves beautiful - cut off the light and views. The Fox Inn is recommended for dinner. There are several interesting National Trust locations in the area, but the narrow lanes in Dorset mean it can take longer than expected to get to them, and the Classic Cottages website information almost invariably under-estimates the distances - even taking the shortest route. (This also applies to the journey to the coast.)
Mr Stanbury
Well situated for some nice walks straight out of the property -- one to Bulbarrow Hill and another to Dorsetshire Gap. The landscape is idyllic in this area. If you like hillforts, you're in the right place!
Mrs Davison
Very friendly owners .... very dog friendly with a great garden / paddock for our dog to play in! Cosy warm cottage with plenty of space and very comfortable beds .. beautiful countryside ... enjoyed The Thimble pub in Piddlehinton for a very tasty meal ! Vegetarian menu too ! Overall a relaxing comfortable week !
Dr Pearce
Delightful comfortable cottage in a fabulous rural setting.
Mr Reeve
Glorious setting, perfect garden for children and dogs - big square lawn. pub 200 yards away friendly with good food. Accessible short walks. Good for dog owners
Mrs Bennett
Very well equipped cottage and lovely and helpful owners.
Mrs Brooklyn
Lots of dog friendly pubs in the area.
Mr Brannan
This cottage is a very good size for 2 couples sharing, and is located in a very quiet and pretty location. We found it perfectly easy to access the Coast and some wonderful inland places such as Milton Abbas and Sherborne. There were also some lovely short local walks to The Dorset Gap and to Binghams Melcombe, and some good hostelries nearby. The owners were very welcoming, and helpful in the event of any mishaps. Altogether, this was a very pleasant experience.
Mr Sharp
Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location and useful little farm shop down the road. Jane is a fantastic host, so friendly and approachable. The cottage is really well equipped and the garden great for children and doggies. We will be back for a third visit I am sure x
Mr Walker
Enjoyed the quiet and peaceful location. The home is very nicely furnished and has a well equipped kitchen. The host could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Weather was cold but it was fun using the wood burning stove to create cozy evenings. The Fox Inn, pub, and restaurant is a nice bonus. It is very close, 0.2 miles, and has excellent food.
Mrs Murphy
Cosy cottage friendly owners, fantastic location, certainly worth a visit if you are intending to have a break in Dorset.
Mrs Stuckey
A fabulously comfortable cottage set in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. A perfect retreat in which to unwind and soak in rural Dorset. The cottage was well equiped and spotlessly clean. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
Mrs Pears
A wonderful place to stay in the heart of Dorset. The cottage is extremely comfortable with all mod cons, wifi, dishwasher, wood burner etc. A perfect retreat for a get away holiday but in easy reach of all that Dorset has to offer. We loved every minute of our stay and are already thinking of returning.
Mrs Gibson
The ideal place you get away to relax and unwind. Rural peace and quiet but still in a good location to be able to visit the many sites of interest in Dorset. Accommodation is excellent and the owner friendly and very helpful. A real home from home.
Mr Sharp
Jane, Richard and family were wonderful hosts. They made us feel incredibly welcome. The cottage is a little dream house just perfect and we can't wait to return. We have had the best holiday ever. So relaxing xx
Mrs Jebson
Immaculately kept throughout, beautiful grounds and in picturesque location. Owners Jane and Richard have clearly spent a lot of time, thought and effort to ensure that their guests have a lovely holiday. Nice touches like the doggy treats and accessories and of course the welcoming chocolate cake - which, with two teenaged girls was very much appreciated! Jane and Richard were the perfect hosts and always on hand to answer any questions/queries we had - which were few as so much info in the cottage, but at the same time respecting guests' privacy. Thank you both for a great week we would not hesitate to recommend and certainly aim to return. Karen, Paul, Katy, Jess and not forgetting Spud (Kerry Blue Terrier)??
Mr Farrell
A comfortable and well appointed cottage, beautifully converted from a coach house, in a beautiful area of Dorset with friendly and helpful owners on site.
Mrs Kerr
It is a wonderful, comfortable cottage in a lovely location with outstanding views.
Mr Jones
If you are looking for a quiet holiday with no noise, other than the usual countryside sounds, then this is the place for you.
Mrs Jones
Beautiful coach house in an idyllic setting. Jane and Richard the owners couldn't have made us more welcome, the cake left for us on arrival was a lovely touch as were the fresh flowers from the garden left in the living area. The coach house is so comfortable and very homely. I would definitely recommend this holiday home.
Mrs Gibson
A beautiful place to relax and unwind. A haven of peace and tranquility with all the comforts of home.
Mr Birt
A beautiful cottage in an idyllic location. The whole family, including the dog, had an excellent holiday.
Mrs Morpeth
The Old Coach House exceeded our expectations. Our arrival was quite late but the cottage was warm and cosy. Jane and Richard made us feel so welcome that this really was home from home. The garden was large and enclosed, so perfect for our lab Monty and the views out over the fields was stunning. Sharing treats with the horses was an added extra. The Brewery Farm Shop just a few minutes walk had absolutely everything whilst The Fox Inn across from the shop served good food, and even has a fully kitted out dog washroom for a small fee. All in all our 2 weeks were the most relaxing we've ever had.
Mr Clark
The cottage is set in great countryside, with a pub and farm shop (which sells papers!) in easy walking distance. A summer weight duvet would have been appreciated in the warmth of the summer.
Mr Morley
Highly recommended, attractive area. Plenty to see and do.
Mrs Bennett
The standard of The Old Coach House was very good indeed. Everything we needed and more. Comfortable, spacious and versatile.
Mrs Leigh
The owners were very friendly. I love horses and the owners two horses, gave us much amusement whilst we sat in the garden.
Mrs Heathcote
We enjoyed a lovely week in this beautiful cottage. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipt. Richard and Jane, the owners, were most helpful.
Mr Burton
Lovely clean property: great, helfpul, friendly and unobtrusive hosts: in a fantastic rural part of Dorset with so many things accessible nearby.
Mrs Woodfield
A delightful place to stay. Comfortable, cosy with beautiful views and a wonderful garden and field at the back of the house, ideal for children and/or a dog. The owners were helpful and considerate, allowing us our privacy, but on hand if needed. A very enjoyable and relaxing place to stay. We would definitely like to visit again.
Mr Burton
Great property in a lovely part of the world.
Miss Tilley
A delightfully peaceful rural hideaway, within easy reach of all that Dorset has to offer. We couldn't have been happier and neither could our dogs!
Mrs Beale
We really loved staying at the Old Coach House; it's in a really convenient location for visiting east Dorset. The owners were very welcoming; the tea tray with biscuits on our arrival was a nice touch, as were the flowers which lasted all week! The cottage is very well equipped and immaculately presented. We would highly recommend this cottage and will be booking again shortly.
Ms Thiele
We discovered magnificant opportunities for walking directly from the Old Coach House and enjoyed the quiet and lovely place after returning from trips to the coast or other places of interest like Thomas Hardys Max Gate in Dorchester or the manor houses and gardens Stourhead or Kingston Lacy.
Ms Juniper
The Old Coach House is a beautiful, well-equipped holiday cottage located in rural Dorset. A stay at the cottage is peaceful and relaxing, but also allows easy access to stunning locations including Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Swanage and Corfe Castle. The owners and horses are very friendly, and we will look forward to seeing them again in the future.
Mrs Blake
Cosy cottage in a very peaceful location which allows you to explore Dorset well.
Mr Hine
A warm welcome. Beautiful property. Friendly owners. A nice area with the pub serving good food and friendly staff. Remember the carrots and polo mints for Foggy and Cinderella (the horses).
Mrs Hopkins
great place to stay friendly and helpful owners good pub down the road and a shop too
Mr Chauncy
An ideal location for people looking for peace and quiet, whilst also being conveniently close to all the main attractions in Dorset. The friendly owners respected our privacy, but were also available if required. An ideal, charming cottage, perfect for re-charging one's batteries.

This cottage is in an excellent location for visiting a wide variety of activities around Dorset. The setting is peaceful and beautiful with a large lawn for children to run around in safely.
Mrs Calver

Mr Emery
Perfect situation to explore the Dorset countryside, rural and tranquil yet within a short drive to Dorchester.
Miss Hawkins
We really enjoyed our short break at The Old Coach House. It was great for a toddler - who was very impressed by the horses in the field next door. The bedrooms are really spacious, and we all slept very well in the quiet and the dark! Ideal location for lots of attractions near-by.
Mrs Mounser
Quiet location, lots of walks, easy access to Dorchester, Branford, Owner very friendly and helpful but not intrusive.
Mrs Smith
The Old Coach House is a perfect rural retreat for a summer holiday. The cottage is compact, thoughtfully equipped and has everything we needed. The double room is very spacious as is the en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom is very comfortable with lovely views of the garden. The garden is perfect for children to play or for lounging around - plenty of sunny areas and shade from the trees with lots of space for ball games. Jane and Richard gave us the warmest of welcomes and were most helpful is suggesting places for days out - there's a lot to see in the area. It was lovely to have the horses and hens nearby. It would be hard to fault this cottage and we hope to return some time.
Ms Juniper
Our stay at The Old Coach House really surpassed our expectations. We received a warm welcome from our hosts. The property was pretty, well-equipped, well-secluded and homely. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we didn't want to go home.
Mr Gibbs
The Old Coach House is a lovely cottage in a nice quiet location, ideal for getting away from it all.
Mrs Hobbs
A very comfortable cottage with a good garden. The perfect place if you need somewhere to relax.
Mrs Bowden
The house was exactly what we thought it would be from the description and was a lovely base for us to enjoy our holiday. We did need the sat nav to navigate all the small roads, so it is a very quiet small village which may not suit everyone, but its very central for travelling to a lot of sites/attractions. In one week, we went to Chessil Beach, Lulworth Cove, Bridport (where they filmed Broadchurch), Sherbourne and up to Stonehenge and Beulieu car museum and a couple of iron age sites. So lots of scope for things to do, no matter what the weather.
