Mr Ballinger
We stayed at the Pump House for one week in September for my Birthday. The property is beautiful in a super location to get around the area. Judith had provided many lovely treats for when we arrived. The cleanliness was perfect, something I am a little paranoid about having allergies. The kitchen is well equipped with everything hubby needed to cook for me all week! What a treat! The garden is gorgeous too, which our little poodle loved, its totally secure so she had the freedom to wander around. The bedroom and bathroom were as downstairs, clean and stocked with all the things you need, like a hairdryer and exceptionally clean bedding and towels. I want to know what Judith does her laundry in, as the bedding and towels smelt fresh all week, and didn't make me itch! Judith is a fabulous lady, who provides a beautiful property, and she is very funny and warm with a truly beautiful soul from our relatively short meeting with her. We will absolutely be booking with Judith again. Just a note- The property sign is slightly hidden behind bushes, but essentially the access lane to the property is directly opposite the Farm shop, Willis lane- Turn into Willis Lane, and you go past the first gate , and then the Pump House entrance is on the left. (We got a bit lost finding it initially) A super place, hosted by a super human. Thank you xxx
Mr Handyside
This was a truly wonderful cottage. Perfect location, very comfortable and well equipped. The large fully enclosed garden was perfect for the dogs. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely rebook for next year.
Mrs Neuer-Dow
We had a wonderful time at The Pump House. This was the nicest and best equipped cottage we ever stayed at. We enjoyed the little patio and the madow garden very much. Our dogs loved it too :-) We definately will visit again.
Dr Hapgood
A lovely place to chill out and escape from everyday life. The gardens, both immediately around the cottage, and in the wider grounds of her house, are an absolute delight. Wandering around is good for the soul - and when the Sun is out, the patio is great place to sit and talk, read or relax with a suitable mindgame (crossword, sudoku, ...) - and of course something to eat and drink.
Mr Ellison
Beautiful cottage with fabulous garden. Great walks on your doorstep. The perfect hideaway.... Highly recommend.
Mr Hanaway
The Pump House exceeded our expectations. We have stayed at very nice places before, and with great welcome hampers, but this is the first time we have arrived to find a table laid out with cups and saucers and cake ready to slice. It felt very welcoming. Many thanks. Both formal and informal gardens for the sole use of the Pump house were extensive and perfect for our dog. Said dog was very unhappy when it came time to go home and expressed her disagreement with such a ridiculous idea by running away several times back into the gardens before we finally managed to get her in the car.
Mr Pennell
We received a very warm personal welcome to the Pump House which was well equipped and decorated. Good array of tourist literature available and an owner, Judith, who knew the history of the area very well. We highly valued access to the manor's handsome gardens and enjoying the delightful part of it dedicated to the Pump House guests. On our first full day a deer appeared at our window 2 feet from the panes. Within a 25 miles radius there is a wealth of first-rate historic properties, NT owned, privately owned and ecclesiatical, plus beautiful countryside and hidden villages and the Jurassic Coast beyond. A visit which cannot be long enough!
Mrs Lawton
Unique accommodation. Loved the meadow set around the pump house, lots of wildlife. Very kind of Judith to open up her garden too at her Manor House and to give information where to go for a day trip out to West Bay.
Dr Ellwood
Good location. Helpful host. Comfortable premises. Lovely garden.
mrs Rawlins
This is an absolutely stunning place, we are definitely returning and have recommended highly to family and friends,
Mrs Boorman
We spent a lovely week in The Pump House at the end of September 2023. The property is very comfortable and the owner very welcoming. We could not fault it at all. Situated in the very quiet village of North Perrott in a beautiful part of Somerset, with Dorset just down the road, there were plenty of places to go and things to see. A really relaxing place to be. Will have to visit again.
Mrs McAllister
I would highly recommend the Pump House. It is so well equipped and in a fabulous location. The grounds are so peaceful and a haven for wildlife.
Mrs Griffiths
We absolutely loved our stay at The Pump House. It was clean, comfortable and a little bit different. The gardens around us were magical and we felt completely relaxed and immursed in nature. Crewkerne is just a couple of miles away for shopping but there’s also a handy farm shop at the end of the lane. Would 100% recommend.
Mrs Dunn
What a gem of a place! Quite unlike anywhere we’ve previously stayed; we felt so lucky to have been able to stay here for a week…and were sorry to have to leave. Thank you, Judith and Gordon, for all the love and care you put in to making the Pump House so very special.
Mrs Walsha
An ideal base for exploring South Somerset and West Dorset. Very dog friendly.
Ms Stephenson
A beautiful, cosy, comfortable, beautifully furnished cottage. A perfect location for exploring so many places. The gardens are so pretty, peaceful and relaxing. And Judith, the owner could not have made us more welcome, and the basket of Easter treats that she had left along with a homemade lemon drizzle cake was just lovely and such a nice start to our break away. We would definitely visit again. And we can definitely recommend the Sunday roast sharing board in the White Horse pub down the road...Fab!!
Dr Hapgood
Another wonderful stay at the Pump House. It did us a power of good after a difficult year. Looking forward to visiting again in 2024.
Mr Osborne
An idyllic setting in its own grounds and a great location to explore Somerset and Dorset from. Loved the little things that made it so perfect including the personalised welcome. Couldn’t be faulted.
Mrs Atkiss
Lovely and clean property for two person. The property had everything that was required and more. The owner taught of absolutely everything to make the stay comfortable. Very peaceful and relaxing which is what we wanted. Lovely get away from everyday busy hustle, yet everything was close by if you needed the coast of visiting different site.
Mrs Glanville
This Pumphouse conversion makes a perfect getaway for a couple with a dog(s). Every human and animal requirement has been anticipated and catered for. The large enclosed garden immediately surrounding the house is completely escape proof, and big enough to be of interest (to the dog!) For the owners there is access to the beautifully designed Manor gardens. This is before you've even left the property! 'The White Horse ', in Haselbury Plunkett, is a short level walk away through orchards, and is where you are rewarded with a gourmet menu. Altogether an excellent base from which to explore West Dorset.
MRS BROPHY
Fantastic house in an amazing location, ideal to get away from it all. Loved having sheep,as neighbours and we’re visited by many types of different birds. We took two dogs with us and they loved running around the field. Would definitely recommend.
Mr Claridge
Lovely location in the country. Excellent welcome pack. Comfortable accommodation. Manor Gardens to explore.
Ms Powell
Perfect for dogs as the garden was completely enclosed and very spacious! Local farm shop good for basics and larger stores within easy drive. The owner was most welcoming and makes excellent lemon drizzle cake !
Professor Hapgood
Another wonderful week at the Pump House - a break that did us both a power of good. It's a lovely feeling to arrive there, to feel so relaxed in a comfy and friendly environment. A particular delight this summer, as last year, is to see dragonflies over the garden, having their day in the sun. Sad to leave, but we plan to be back in the spring.
Mrs Griffiths
A delightful and unique cottage with every possible facility and in tranquil surroundings.
Mrs Richards
We totally love The Pump House, returning year after year!
Mrs King
The Pump House is a hidden gem in the most beautiful and tranquil setting. Soon after we arrived Judith greeted us - she was so welcoming. She had made us the most delicious lemon drizzle cake, along with a few thoughtful extras. From the moment we entered the property we felt 'at home' and relaxed. Our little dog, Rosie, enjoyed every moment too - the meadow was secure for her - paradise! The surrounding land is picturesque, with many walks. The pretty village has a well stocked farm shop and also serves good coffee and fresh snacks. The Pump House is really comfortable and in an idyllic spot - we hope to visit again in the future.
Mr Parker
We really enjoyed our stay at The Pump House. The property is really quirky with lovely touches. We appreciated the peace and quiet and loved the meadow and gardens. It was lovely to walk in to classical music playing , the table laid for tea with a lovely homemade lemon drizzle cake and breakfast items in the fridge. Really well equipped kitchen and the bed was really comfy too ! Lovely place to take dogs , ours really enjoyed themselves.
Mrs Birch
We really loved staying at the Pump House and would certainly go again .
Mrs Hall
'A lovely quirky retreat' surrounded by beautiful nature.. Peace and quiet A lovely Welcome from Judith...
Mrs Greening
Wonderful little place to stay. Perfect for our nervous dog who loved having the freedom of the secure garden to explore. Not having WiFi was a bit of a novelty but not a negative as such. Delicious lemon drizzle cake and goodies on arrival, and the owner was helpful and friendly in equal measures. Would definitely return.
Mr Game
A relaxing bolthole with a beautiful garden. Perfect peace.
Ms Bengough
The Pump House is the most wonderful quiet and relaxing place to stay, in a pretty village with endless walking. Easy driving to the coast and incredible historic houses and gardens. We loved it.
Professor Hapgood
Our visit to the Pump House was as lovely as ever. A great break from our increasingly mad world - uplifting not just for the peaceful environment and comfort of the cottage, but also seeing familiar places and faces in the area and seeing how so many folks are working hard to keep things on an even keel.
Mr Steven
The privacy , peace and tranquility are key features.
mr allen
Highly recommend. 5 star in every way.
Professor Hapgood
Another wonderful holiday at the Pump House, a great place to chill out, especially from all the stresses of the today's wider world.
Mrs Maden
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. The cottage was well equipped and furnished. The owners were very friendly but not intrusive and had left a lovely cream tea for when we arrived. We loved the private gardens with all the wildflowers. Lots of things to do in the area and within easy reach of the coast. Excellent!
Mrs Hudson
It is a rare opportunity to stay in the middle of the countryside with nothing but beautiful gardens, wildlife & birdsong for company. It was so restful! We loved our stay!
Mrs Cox
A wonderful setting for getting away from it all. Lovely, well equipped cottage in superb location. Would definitely recommend.
Mrs Ellcome
We had a lovely stay at the Pump House. Clean, comfortable accommodation. We loved the privacy of the location and we had the grounds to ourselves when we were there. Wildlife spotted in the garden included a stoat and a treecreeper. The local cafe/garden centre/ farm shop is very well stocked and the staff were extremely helpful, even giving us a lift in bad weather. Sue's Cafe at Misterton does lovely cakes and the owner gave us a lift when we arrived as it was monsooning down! NOTE: The village pub is currently only open Fridays to Sundays. The local bus 96 isn't calling at the village due to roadworks at nearby Misterton. The nearest pub and bus stop at the moment is at Haselbury Plucknett.
Professor Hapgood
A wonderful cottage in a great location, whether to go down to the sea (fish & chips at West Bay) or stay to watch the acrobatic local squirrels, while relaxing on the sunny patio.
Miss Dudden
An amazing hidden gem tucked away in the countryside. The Manor Farm House grounds are just stunning, bringing wildlife to your doorstep. Judith is so friendly and accomdating, the little touches of doggy treats, afternoon tea, and fresh local produce for breakfast were very welcome. We had a fabulous time.
Miss Greenfield
We had a fantastic stay at the Pump House for our honeymoon in April. It was a beautiful cottage, with a lovely, peaceful and private garden which we enjoyed as we don’t have a garden of our own. We were also allowed access to the gardens and tennis court belonging to the Manor House which was brilliant! The personal touches made it extra special and the host, Judith, had clearly gone to a lot of effort to make us feel at home. Judith came to check we had settled in okay (at a distance) and made sure we knew where she was if we needed anything but then left us to it which was great. We would love to stay at the Pump House again in the future. Thank you for making our honeymoon so wonderful!
Mr Eaton
People should know that roaming WiFi is not great. Lovely location and peaceful
Miss Spicer
Our stay at the Pump House was lovely from start to finish. It was in a secluded setting with walks and farm shop nearby. Also in easy reach of places to visit. Judith was very welcoming and the dog friendly touches showed us that our four legged friend was welcome. The scones and breakfast goodies were a lovely touch and enjoyed. Having breakfast whilst watching the birds, squirrels and rabbits run about was lovely. Will definitely return again.
Mr Teich
A lovely place to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle. The owner is so thoughtful about everything, even in Corona times. A perfect holiday. We highly recommend the Pump House.
Mrs Lamb
Our third visit. Best yet. Can't wait for our next visit.
Ms McCree
We had a wonderful time in the pump house and were made very welcome. Lovely place to relax!
Miss Allaker
The Pump House is a very special place to stay, set in gorgeous grounds of the owners Manor House. Beautifully furnished with everything you need. We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended!
Mr Wightwick
Excellent location, use of garden very much appreciated, warm welcome, property heating on, classic FM playing on radio , felt warm and relaxing from the outset.
Mr Steel
This was our second visit to the pump house, once again we had a lovely time and the property met all our expectations and more, a beautiful location and extremely comfortable place to stay with lots of thoughtful touches.
Mrs Dingle
Beautiful, relaxing location.
Mrs Kerr
A beautiful property in an amazing location. Will definitely visit again.
Mrs Greet
Fabulous little hideaway for a perfectly relaxing holiday.
Professor Hapgood
Always a delight to visit.
Ms Grant
A very comfy and well situated cottage. Definitely one to visit again.
Mrs Staunton
A very unique property in a very tranquil setting. A little gem. Well equipped and lots of information on the local area. Pub and farm shop only a stone's throw away. The freshly baked cake waiting for us on arrival was a lovely gesture, as were the eggs, milk and bacon in the fridge. Judith is a very thoughtful owner. We will revisit in the summer hopefully to take better advantage of the gardens and watch the cricket on the village green.
Professor Hapgood
The Pump House is a great spot to chill out for a few days.
Mrs Lindon
This cottage is perfect for any couple wanting a relaxing, quiet break. There are plenty of nearby walks and you are close by to many towns, beaches and national trust properties. The property is perfect for dogs and is very clean and comfortable for everyone - would highly recommend.
Mrs James
Nice secluded area. Owner welcoming but not intrusive. Great touches with treats for dogs and little extras like the fudge, cake and bacon, eggs and milk in the fridge.
Mrs Wheeler
Delightfully cost hideaway.
Mrs Pritchard
This was one of the best holidays in England we have had ,the location was perfect so peaceful like being in a fairy tale ,yet not far from nearby towns and places of interest, Judith met us with a warm welcome and provided homemade cake and fudge and also supplied breakfast of bacon and eggs and local milk. We had great peace of mind with the area being safely enclosed for our dogs ,I think they enjoyed the stay as much as we did. the wild life around the pump House is a delight ,with an array of bird life ,rabbits, fox's and resident sheep .
Mrs Webb
Our stay was wonderful our host Judith was very friendly and informative, the meadow Garden is delightful and the formal gardens are a lovely bonus, we loved the sheep. The setting was perfect for our stay and we like the No WiFi it meant the holiday was a special time to unwind and relax
Mr Matthews
Really enjoyed our stay - lovely welcome surprises from the owners (who we thought were very interesting and friendly.)
Mrs Willatt
This was our second stay at the Pump House and it was every bit as special as the first. Perfect to get away from it all with privacy and comfort. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped, as soon as we left we wanted to return!
Mrs Robinson
What a wonderful hide-away The Pump House is. Arriving to find the table set for afternoon tea is just the perfect start to the holiday. It really is a home from home, very well equipped and a very high standard. Couldn't recommend The Pump House more as a holiday destination. Great location for exploring the area and a wonderful place to just kick back and relax. I can imagine sitting out on a Summer evening with a glass of wine. We will be back to do that next year hopefully! The large fenced garden make it an ideal spot to stay with dogs and the added doggie touches made them feel totally welcome. First class!
Mr Dempsey
We loved everything about the cottage and the owners beautiful gardens well done classic cottages
Miss Platt
We have just returned from a one week stay at The Pump House and I can honestly say it is one of the best holidays we've ever had. The cottage itself is beautiful, every detail has been thought of and all the lovely little touches around the cottage made this a true home from home. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need and the bed and the sofa's were so comfy, we found it really cosy in the evening. The location is absolutely spot-on, it feels so private tucked away in it's own grounds with lots of parking for the car too. We loved having a coffee outside the french doors in the morning and then having a stroll down the garden to say hello to the sheep, we also saw guinea fowl and spotted a couple of owls in the trees in the evening. We had some lovely walks right from the door - we walked a fair way down the River Parrett trail, for day's out there's plenty to do - Charmouth is only a short drive away (we found an ammonite fossil on the beach too!) and we ventured further afield to Durdle Door and Corfe Castle which only took about 50 mins drive. Thank you Judith and Gordon for such a lovely holiday and thank you for making our border collie Pippa feel so welcome too, the doggie treats and bowl were such a lovely touch (Pippa loved it so much she didn't want to leave and neither did we) I hope we can one day come back again for another stay.
Mrs Evans
We wanted a week away from everything and the Pump House fits this criteria exactly. Judith was a superb host; my husband mentioned fishing and the next day she had left leaflets and information for him on the doorstep. She also, as has been said in many other reviews, left fresh milk, bacon, eggs, apple juice and fudge in the fridge. When we arrived, the table was laid for tea with a delicious home made chocolate cake that lasted us the whole week and classic fm was playing on the radio. It really is a delightful little house, just perfect for two and fully kitted out for cooking should you want to. So many highlights but do explore Judith's beautiful garden, say hello to her pet sheep and guinea fowl in the field next door and make use of the tennis court. There are several bird feeders in the garden which all the little birds crowd around and one morning as I sat quietly observing I was amazed to see a sparrow hawk swoop in and out of the meadow - only about 10 feet away from me - thankfully he didn't manage to grab a meal. We also were treated to a pair of owls in the meadow in the evening. There is no wifi, which we loved, but if you need it the farm shop down the road has wifi. The local area is fantastic - loads to visit and see if you want to go out and about or else just sit and enjoy the tranquility, with the gentle sound of the church bells across the fields. Very highly recommended, it's an absolute gem.
Mr Valla
Good location, very comfortable, welcoming owners. Perfect for a chill-out, quiet and relaxing break.
Mr Doherty
The Pump House is set back some fifty yards from a very minor road in an oasis of greenery with the local wildlife providing a visual and vocal display every day. The owners are absolutely charming and genuinely caring who share their stunningly beautiful gardens openly with you. As previous reviewers have mentioned, there are numerous appealing and impressive walks starting literally on your doorstep that cater for all levels of walkers. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in the Pump House and would highly recommend a visit.
Mrs Kelly
Lovely cottage, blissfully peaceful and an absolute oasis of calm.
Mrs Judd
Our stay at the Pump House was delightful. The cottage is beautiful. Top quality fixtures and fittings throughout. Thoughtful touches like the dog bowl and towel made us feel very welcome to bring our dog. Our dog particularly loved the treats left for her and the meadow garden was a joy for her to explore. Mornings at the table over breakfast were spent bird watching with the thoughtfully placed bird feeders in the meadow. There was cake and some provisions left for us when we arrived. The lovely large bath is great for soaking in after a long day of walking. Plenty of walks from the property, plus you are close to the coast for exploring further. It must be beautiful in the summer months as I’m sure the garden becomes a sun trap. A delightful stay that wasn’t spoiled by the inclement weather.
Dr Walker
A wonderful cottage in a beautiful village in a very quiet and peaceful location. The cottage contains everything you might possibly need to prepare any meal with real thought having been given to what might be useful. We loved the location especially at night when all we could hear were tawny owls and various wildlife snuffling around.
Ms Gibson
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, from the ease of the booking and flexibility of a midweek stay to the lovely welcome pack on arrival. We were met shortly after arrival to ensure we had arrived safely and to welcome us, after this we were left alone but knowing the friendly owners are nearby if we needed them. We walked to Crewkerne, Haselbury Plucknett, (White Horse Pub was good food), and various walks locally all from the front door. We did the Park Run at Montacute House which was good fun and enjoyed the farmers market there. The Pump House is a great location to get away from it all especially as there is no WIFI which was fine by us. The accommodation is a perfect hideaway with an abundance of wildlife right outside your window.
Mrs Holmes
Highly recommended.
Miss Stewart
This is our second time here. A wonderful place.
Ms Gale
The Pump House is a magical place. I almost didn't write a review as I don't want it to get too booked up as I know I want to go back! Everything has been thought of here. It is so peaceful & restorative. I spent a week walking, cycling & enjoying the surroundings. You feel a million miles from everything but you are actually close to good road links & everything you could need. The owners have provided a wealth of local information & there is so much to do or you can do nothing - simply sit in the meadow & daydream, read & while away the hours. Bliss!
Mr Teich
We stayed at the Pump house for the second time and were as happy as the first time. A really big thank you to the lovely owners who cared about us such in the right balance. We had nice chats and they are so generous. Thanks for all the goodies. We will definitely return!
Mrs Whalley
The Pump House is a fabulous little cottage in the middle of nowhere but in the centre of the most exciting countryside. There are many local walks to be had and the glorious Jurassic coast is within half and hours drive. The owners are delightful and ready to help if there are any problems. On our arrival there was a delicious chocolate cake to welcome us together with the laid tea try. Milk, eggs and bacon were in the fridge. Fuel for the wood burner is provided for the first evening and further supplies can be bought from the farm shop as can freshly baked bread, local beer and wine and food plus many little luxury’s! A hair dryer can be found in the bedside cupboard. We had a most relaxing and comfortable stay in The Pump House and can highly recommend it.
Mrs Jones
Outstanding setting of tranquility and peace, a real haven for wildlife.
Mrs Book
A beautiful house with everything inside you could need. The homemade cake, fudge, eggs, bacon, milk and juice we a really thoughtful touch. Bed was really comfortable. Would highly recommend. Bet it is beautiful in the summer!
Mrs White
We had a wonderful stay at The Pump House.a beautiful cottage set in a fantastic location. There are great walks right on the doorstep,a farm shop 5 minutes up the road and a village pub.The owners made us very welcome and we cannot fault our stay, the chocolate cake and provisions were very much appreciated
Mr Whitehorn
Excellent cottage very comfortable and superb location for Somerset,Devon and Dorset. A brilliant spot for dog walking too.
Mr Lee
A lovely welcome from the owner. Lovely setting / location. Only 14 miles to nearest beach. Just perfect.
Ms Paterson
The Pump House is beautiful. Even in March when the meadow is still waking up from winter, the location is marvellous and you are away from everyone. The garden is perfectly enclosed so our four legged friend could enjoy it without us being concerned she may escape! The owner's next door were so friendly but left us to it - their gardens are stunning and it is lovely you are allowed to explore them. The property is so comfortable - the woodburner makes it cosy at night. Everything is there that you need and it is modern, spotless and just stunning. We were met with homemade cake, tea, local bacon and eggs. What a lovely arrival gift. To wake up listening to the birds singing all around is magical. I would love to return in summer to see the meadow in full bloom, but whatever time of year I cannot recommend this place enough. I am just grateful I found it online to go and stay there. Local area is lovely - although all local pubs appear to shut on a Sunday evening unless you drive somewhere... All in all a great place!
Mr Humphrey
Exactly as described and exceeded expectations. The Pump House was a perfect getaway. We stayed for four nights and we couldn't fault the cottage or location. Tea and cake was laid out for us on arrival with bacon and eggs in the fridge. There were even some dog treats left for our Labrador! There are plenty of beautiful walks to the surrounding villages and the majority of pubs are dog friendly so we didn't have to worry about the dog. Less than 2 minutes walk is the local farm shop where you can pick up plenty of supplies and the village pub is 5 minutes down the road. Would recommend and would definitely stay again.
Mrs Thomas
This is a lovely cottage, that has everything you need. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, and the garden is really enclosed – our dog loved it, and is was great that he could roam around without us worrying where he was. There was loads to see within a max 45 min. drive, like Montacute House and Barrington Court, and we even went to the beach. Can only recommend it!
Mrs Agnew
Clean, tidy holiday home. Extremely well organized and equipped. Lovely privacy and space outside. Farm Shop friendly - the dome-shaped whole wheat loafss are fantastic. Would love to re-visit.
Mr Teich
This was one of our best stays we ever had. And we had a lot. The owner were so friendly and we felt like coming home. The Pump House is on a very high standard, very cosy, quiet with wonderful relaxing views. Everything is very clean and thoughtfully chosen. We also liked the Farm Shop which is in easy reach, perfect for some fresh bread. All in all we highly recommend this beautiful retreat.
Mr Jewell
It's a hidden little gem in a beautiful part of Somerset. This very unique property in a great setting, is something we wouldn't hesitate in recommending to anyone.
Professor Hapgood
A great place to chill out for a few days. Loved both the cottage and the farm shop just 200 metres away, ideal to pick up basics and for light meal.
Mrs Churches
This cottage lived up to our expectations, it was a fabulous location, well equipped to a high standard. We were made to feel welcome and the cake and little added extras were a delight to find. Bob our springer spaniel, thoroughly enjoyed the large garden to run in. There were lovely walks straight from the door. Will be visiting again soon.
Mrs Goreham
We really enjoyed our week in Somerset. The Pump House was a really good base for exploring the area. We did several lovely walks from the village. The home made cake went down a treat after a day out sight seeing.
Mrs White
A most beautifully quaint 'Hansel & Gretel' cottage for anybody wanting some peaceful tranquility.
Miss Farrell
If you are thinking of booking any form of break to The Pump House then stop thinking and book it. What a piece of treasure it really is. Nestled away in the wonderful part of Somerset with history and wildlife surrounding you. Tea and cake on arrival, classical music playing and the warmth of the fire was the setting for our week stay. We fell in love with the pet sheep who are the only neighbours in sight, especially Jenny and her cheeky ways. Everything you need is within the cottage which is finished to a high spec, the owners were very friendly and caring to every need but otherwise leave you to enjoy your stay. Our dog was in heaven with his own private wild meadow and miles of walking from the door step, we cannot wait to return!
Mr Steel
We had a really lovely week at the pump house from the minute we arrived to a table laid for afternoon tea and a delicious cake,we were made to feel welcome, the owners were helpful but not intrusive it really is a magical, peaceful special place to be. We also enjoyed the surrounding area and found plenty of things to do,we are already planning our next visit.
Ms Marsh
This cottage was truly a wonderful find. The location was outstanding, the cottage beautiful and unique. It has been decorated with incredible attention to detail which we loved, even down to the light switches being so in keeping with the building. The wildlife around it kept us occupied for hours! The welcome provided by the owners was outstanding. This was for our honeymoon and the owners had left so many gorgeous touches that made it feel a truly delightful honeymoon hideaway. It was equipped with everything we needed and the rest we got from the farm shop 2 mins away. A short drive took us to Crewkerne and a longer one to the delights of Lyme Regis. But we could happily have spent our whole stay there with even excellent maps provided which we also took advantage of. We cannot rate this property highly enough and look forward to our return.
Mrs Shepherd
The Pump house was the perfect little escape for us and our dog. Beautifully decorated and very comfortable, it suited us down to the ground. Lovely walks around, straight from the door and we visited Lyme Regis, Sherbourne Castle and the Willow and wetland visitor centre which we particularly enjoyed. The fenced in meadow was perfect for our lively puppy to enjoy and we enjoyed all the wildlife around us. Would definitely recommend the cottage to my friends it's quite unique and was differ cult to leave only just one week Thank you Classic Cottages!
Professor Hapgood
A great place to get away and wind down - beautiful location, well equipped cottage, and with very convenient, well-stocked and friendly shop just two minutes walk away. Some excellent places to eat nearby and an easy drive down to the Dorset coast. Definitely heading back again.
Miss Hammond
Very well equipped cottage, the owners thought of everything, had every kind of utensil you can think if, even had a liquidiser, scales & food processor, not that we needed it as we had a lovely home made cake waiting for us on arrival. There was also fresh local bacon, eggs & Apple juice, freshly ground coffee, a basket of logs for the fire & a vase of fresh flowers. They even thought of our dog & left a dog bowl with treats. Lovely friendly owners, popped in to check we had everything we needed just after we arrived & were available if we needed anything but kept their distance otherwise. I wouldn't suggest you use the local village pub as the bar maids made it clear it was meant for locals, but the pub in Haselbury (white horse) which was less than as mile away was amazing....the best Sunday lunch I've ever had & the staff were extremely friendly & welcoming. Would definitely return to this cottages if in the area in the future.
Ms Bloodworth
everything said in the literature about it is true. It is a special place to be.
Mrs Oubhie
Was a wonderful, scenic and relaxing idol. The owners were lovely people who gave us total privacy. Animals and birds well looked after and village was just perfect with the cricket pavilion and the church bells tolling.
Mr Clarke
Delightful accommodation in a beautiful location. Lovely walks with our dog nearby. A warm welcome then left to our own devices with the knowledge of assistance close by if needed. Our dog loved the wild flower meadow and spent many happy hours in it.
Mr Renshaw
The cottage sits in it's own lovely meadow with delightful views of the surrounding fields complete with sheep, the odd rabbit or two and even a red kite on one occasion. It's only a couple of minutes walk to the impressive farm shop stocked with good local produce and essentials such as logs for the wood burner; a necessity on the chilly spring evenings. You'll find the Manor Arms a five minutes walk from the cottage, a nice old-fashioned pub which welcomed us and our dog too. He was also delighted by the meadow which allowed him to run and investigate without our worrying he'll escape since the area is enclosed, at least for a medium-sized to large dog. The cottage itself is attractive and exceptionally well appointed, comfortable and spacious. Gordon, who met us at the cottage was very friendly and knowledgeable about the region, and he also invited we take a stroll around the beautiful manor house gardens that neighbour the meadow. We really enjoyed our short break here and would definitely recommend the Pump House, the village and the wider location too!
Mr Uccellini
We read the reviews and thought it was going to be a good standard location and property. We were mistaken, it was truly amazing and above our expectations. I can't put into words how wonderful our stay was. I was devastated to go home.
Mr Larkin
We had a really relaxing week. The property is in an idyllic location and very private. The owners have thought of everything and the property is very tastefully furnished/equipped. We will definitely be returning (hopefully later this year!)
Miss Green
We adored our stay at the Pump House...it was idyllic and we were able to completely re-charge...perfect!
Miss Palmer-Joy
The pump house is a lovely little cottage we had a lovely break here. I think it would be impossible not to fall in love with it. Tea and cake on arrival and bacon and eggs in the fridge, every detail has been thought of and we will absolutely definitely be returning. Perfect to recharge the batteries and relax!
Ms Way
Booked for total relaxation, our break at "The Pump House" didn't disappoint. We were able to take lovely walks from the front door. The meadow is a haven for wildlife with finches, robins and a woodpecker all regular visitors. The Pump House is a real cosy home from home, and we've already booked a return visit in November.
Mr Loveridge
The Pump House is the ideal get away from it all in beautiful countryside, lots of lovely walks and a very warm welcome from the owners is always guaranteed. Our 3rd visit here.
Mrs Gilpin
Beautiful accomomodation in great setting. Lots to do in the area and despite very cold weather very warm and snug.
Mr Hall-Daniels
A delightful haven. The Pump House gave us a truly restful break in this crazy modern world. A delicious homemade cake, bacon and eggs in the fridge and fresh flowers were a welcoming find after our long journey. The garden was filled with wild birds. I especially liked the little wrens that constantly danced around the windows . Pheasants and Guinea fowl were regular visitors. I felt privileged to see them. I would highly recommend the Pump House to anyone looking for a peaceful haven.
Mrs Willatt
An absolute gem of a place. A wonderful garden to relax in, and for our dog to explore safely. The welcome pack of goodies (cake, local juice, tea, coffee, milk, fudge and treats for the dog) was very unexpected and a lovely touch. Very well appointed and spotless. Good to get some local info from the owner when he popped in to say hi. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Pump House and we really hope to return!
Miss Connett
The Pump House is a lovely holiday property and the owners made our stay very special with a delicious cake, fresh milk and flowers and other treats including some for our dog! So thank you. It's a private retreat and a very unique place which we'd definitely recommend and return to. We had mixed weather and so had the delight of using the wood burner on a couple of chilly nights but also the deck chairs and BBQ on a hot evening. Morning coffee (and that lovely cake!) was very enjoyable sitting under the pergola and the kitchen/dining area was very well equipped and met all our needs. The cottage is perfectly situated for walks straight from the door but also close enough to main roads and towns so we could really explore the area without spending hours in the car - just over an hour to a lovely dog friendly beach at Branksome Chine near Poole and twenty minutes to the wonderful Sherborne with its lovely shops and restaurants. The nearby pub was a bonus, very very friendly and a proper old fashioned local with ancient flagged floors and mullioned windows, thankfully it hasn't been given a 'boutique' makeover and it's dog friendly too. It was magical in the evenings, listening to the owls in the surrounding trees and we both slept incredibly well in the very comfy bed, we're fully revitalised. It sounds silly but time definitely passes more slowly at The Pump House, maybe Somerset has its own time zone?! A truly lovely holiday, thank you.
Mr Long
Great for a very quiet holiday
Mr Kramer
Lovely cottage, well taken care of. Warm welcome. Private, yet the village shop and a nice pub with good food on walking distance. Beautiful walks start almost on the doorstep. We hope to be back!
Mr Hey
Extend your coverage to our other areas especially Norfolk!
Mrs Moseley
A wonderful place to relax and unwind.
Mrs Housencroft
Amazing cottage in beautiful surroundings. Attention to detail is amazing, we didn't want to leave. Excellent for dogs, local pub dog friendly and stunning footpaths abound. Wish we had booked a fortnight, so much to see and do, will return.
Miss Stewart
A truly beautiful and magical place.
Mr Sherlock
We loved the seclusion of the place, it was so peaceful - a perfect getaway for the weekend. We had afternoon tea laid out for us when we arrived and basics in the fridge. It was such a nice touch. We didn't have the best weather as we went in February, but it didn't matter. The Pump House is beautiful in rain or shine. We will definitely be visiting again in summer!
Mr Larkin
The cottage is in an idyllic position and it was very peaceful. We really appreciated the eggs, bacon and cake left for us on arrival.
Mr Budd
Fantastic cottage to stay in a lovely village with a friendly pub. Enclosed meadow is perfect for visiting dogs.
Miss Thompson
Great little retreat for couples. Lovely location with lots of walks in the local area, owners near by if needed. Lovely wood burner to cosy up to in the evenings while listening to the owls outside. Overall a great holiday even though weather wasn't great but it was November after all!
Mr Roberts
The Pump House is a genuinely unique & tranquil place to stay. The private meadow is a wonderful setting & perfect for your little four legged friend. Once inside it's like being in a boutique hotel, it really is that good. I only stayed for a midweek break but there is enough equipment & facilities in the cottage that you could easily stay for longer without needing anything more. Can't recommend the Pump House highly enough
Mrs Shute
The Pump House proved a superb location for unwinding and relaxing. An excellent location, well fitted out, close to two pubs, the cricket club and picturesque Somerset villages. It also provided a excellent base for exploring the Dorset and North Somerset coasts and Quantock Hills. Gordon and Judith were superb hosts and provided an excellent stock of goodies on arrival.
Mr Bryant
Fantastic break in a great property with truly peaceful surroundings. Very friendly and genuine hosts.
Mr Voller
The first impression on entering the Pump House was a complete 'wow' - the table was laid for afternoon tea: perfect timing! Perfect situation - we brought our black Labrador with us do some walking. He [the dog] settled immediately as did we and all was very well equipped whether you wished to cook in house or eat out. Immaculately presented by Mr and Mrs Hall within a very lovely [wild] setting. Perfect weather as well which does help! Would definitely consider returning.
Mr Loveridge

Mrs Geliher
I couldn't recommend this property enough to people looking for a really special break away. The Pump House has been beautifully restored and the owners really go that extra step to make your stay wonderful. The area is beautiful and it really is a perfect place to tramp around the fields during the day and curl up in front of the wood burner with a glass of wine in the evening. We absolutely loved it - such a special place to stay and superb value.
Mr Jarman
A great 'cottage' with all we needed for a weeks stay over Christmas. Quiet and peaceful location but very handy for Crewkerne and not far to Yeovil. Well equipped, comfortable and clean accommodation with a warm welcome from the owners. The wood burner was great and kept us warm so take a dog - then you have to get out and enjoy the countryside. K&J Xmas 2014.
Ms Franklin
This is a delightful cottage in a lovely location, which makes a great touring base for South Somerset, East Devon and Dorset.
Mrs Josif
A perfect hideaway for two. Well equipped kitchen. Welcoming ambience. A quiet retreat from the madness of city life.
Mr Cooper
It was unique, quaint and secluded. Its in a lovely part of the country with lots to do and see. Its such a romantic location, perfect for couples and it has everything you need.
Dr Wales
An excellent place to relax for a week. With great cake.
Mr Cox
Nice welcome from Judith the owner, left us freshly laid eggs from her chickens and bacon. Loved the fact that she laid up the table for tea for 2 with a lovely cake & had classical music playing inside when we arrived, I really appreciated that and was only sorry I didn't get a chance to tell her how lovely it was & what a FAB time we had. We will most certainly be returning to this lovely little gem. Clare.
