Offering country living at its best, Pengelly Manor is a stunning detached manor house, situated near to the peaceful hamlet of Linkinhorne on the doorstep of beautiful Bodmin Moor and equidistant to the north and south coasts of Cornwall. Lovingly restored and with fabulous gardens, Pengelly Manor is the perfect holiday retreat for a family gathering or a group of friends looking for a Cornish getaway.

From the moment you drive down the sweeping drive you will be instantly captivated. Dating back to the early 1700s, Pengelly Manor is a very special place, with original features including slate floors, oak beams and some low ceilings throughout the ground floor. Sympathetically furnished with grace and style, there are two sitting-rooms, the charming drawing-room decorated in soft creams and browns and the elegant larger sitting-room with fabulous feature inglenook fireplace and wood-burner to keep you warm in cooler months. Next door, the games-room has a three-quarter size snooker table, perfect for after dinner entertainment. Steps then lead to the dining-room, where the original granite salt troughs from bygone days make a striking feature beneath the bench seating. The contemporary kitchen is a dream, fitted with old pine and cream units, polished granite worktops and a warming electric AGA (the main cooking appliance, although a combination microwave and air fryer is also provided). A central island provides the perfect spot for guests to sit and chat with the chef. A handy separate utility-room is home to the washing machine and microwave and there's a cloakroom with WC and wash-basin too.

Climb the stairs to the first floor where you will find five charming bedrooms, all beautifully styled with elegance and grace. Bedroom one has a fabulous carved four-poster bed, like something out of a fairy tale, and beautiful furnishings to match plus a handy sofa making this room feel like a suite. Bedroom two is a delightful double room with king-size bed and a sitting area, perfect for a holiday read. This room also has an en suite shower-room. Pretty bedroom three has a wrought iron bed frame, king-size bed and finished with lovely linens, whilst bedroom four is a twin-bedded room, ideal for either children or adults. Please note that bedroom five is accessed through bedroom four the perfect option for a small family. Bedroom five has a beautiful carved bed and pretty outlook. The family bathroom on this floor is quite special, with plenty of wardrobe space and a lovely roll-top bath, perfect for a long soak after a busy day.

Outside you will find the most magical gardens with beautiful lawned areas, trees, shrubs and two wildlife ponds (please supervise children). This vast area is perfect for letting the family dogs and kids to let off steam whilst the grownups enjoy the blissful views from the patio or sun loungers. A specially created outhouse (affectionately known as the pig shed) provides shelter from the suns rays and the opportunity to dine al fresco from dawn until dusk. Mrs Wilden

If you love character and are happy to make the limited bathrooms work for you then Pengelly Manor is a dream house. Comfortable, clean and homely. It's well positioned to explore Cornwall and a it has a big garden. This property is wonderful for indoor and outdoor friends/family gatherings. We will return - please.

Mrs Chantler

We spent a most delightful week at Pengelly Manor. It was the ideal place for us to get together as a family with lots of space inside and out. Everything had been thought of. House was well stocked with crockery, cutlery and utensils, lots of storage in the kitchen. Welcome goodies were such a lovely touch. The garden was vast with lots of room for children and dog to run around. Everything had been thought of to make our stay perfect. Thank you!

Prof McWilliams

It is a lovely old house with lots of character in a quiet location, very spacious. The garden is huge and is a very attractive space.

Mr Morrell

A lovely place to stay, especially over Christmas in a location that was close enough to home to be convenient but remote enough to feel like a holiday. Really did feel like Christmas at the Manor!

mrs farthing

Lovely house and garden with magnificent mature trees and sense of wildness and silence. Very therapeutic. Well equipped with full sized pool table. Sense of history of the place is strong with flagged floors and well equipped kitchen with electric Aga. Weather was dreadful for our stay so games and log fires, which was lovely. Undiscovered Cornwall away from mass tourism.

Mrs Podmore

We all loved Pengelly Manor ,the fusion of old and new great kitchen loved the Aga lots of space for everyone, our two dogs loved to sit at the open kitchen doors .The garden is spacious and beautiful very safe for the dogs ,loved the tranquil setting overall it has the wow factor. Would love to return .

Ms Billett

A lovely old flag stoned floored spacious Cornish house, comfy beds and a great place in which to spend a relaxing time with friends. The garden is a delight, it's as if the house grew from it amid the rambling roses that clamber up its's walls! Stayed for 2 nights but felt we'd been away a week. Very relaxing. Would recommend a trip to the National Trust's Cothele and to walk down to the estuary and have tea in the cafe garden there.

Mrs McCormack

We had a lovely stay at Pengelly Manor. 6 adults, 2 children (7&5), a baby (11mths) and a dog. House is large, beautiful rooms, extremely well equipped with gorgeous gardens. Not ideal for the baby as many hazards, but with 6 adults we were able to ensure she was kept safe (note: you'd need to bring your own travel cot/high chair etc if bringing a baby).

Mr Webb

One of the largest "cottages" we have stayed in. Fabulous garden, secure for our dog, and ideal to relax in on warm sunny days. Very quiet. Spacious house with some interesting furnishings. Easy access down a short lane from the main road.

Mrs Haros

House is very suitable for a large family. Gardens beautiful. If you like old houses with plenty of character then Pengelly manor is the perfect place. We loved the log burners and games room. Children had plenty of space to play. Beds very comfy. Only downfall for such a large property is there is only one shower.

Mrs Bullard

Beautifully positioned property in a stunning setting. We soon made ourselves at home and loved the experience. We would recommend this property for a holiday/break away.

Mr Rigby

Reviews are difficult when you love a place at first sight, but a few issues did appear on the first days. However, Classic and the owner came to our rescue and all sorted. You will find the property in a timewarp of bygone days country living. The furnishings are certainly old and have history. The grounds are superb and what better then walking from the kitchen door and going for a walk. Yes, there could be a bit more TLC in areas, but this did not change our decision to return in the future. Just a quick tip… if the electric aga is off on arrival, ensure you swith it on as it does take quite a while to heat up. Enjoy your stay, we did.
