Customer reviews

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mr Wilkie

Beautiful cottage and scenery all around. Peaceful setting on a quiet country lane. Welcoming hosts. Lovely pub within easy walking distance in Walkhampton.

Mr Brooks

Wonderful cottage literally in the middle of nowhere Superb level of finishing inside the property Masha was welcoming and lovely Stewart and Tracy

Mrs Young

We had two weeks in Huckworthy with our small dog. Fantastic location, beautiful property, spotless and lovely friendly, helpful owners. We will return.

Mrs Pearson

Perfect retreat, you will not be disappointed

Mrs Corry

This is a perfect cottage for two people. It was so well equipped, the decor was immaculate and very stylish and the owners left some delicious goodies for us to eat/drink, as well as fresh flowers. It was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend Huckworthy cottage.

Miss Ashbourn

Just back from a wonderful stay at Huckworthy, which has clearly been designed with great care. The furnishings and decor made it feel homely, whilst touches like fresh flowers added a sense of luxury. The property is set back from the others so that it feels private and has a lovely enclosed garden. It’s also in great location for exploring Dartmoor, with the coast not far away.

Mr Stead

Just got back from our week at Huckworthy, at the risk of using to many superlatives, excellent property, well equipped with everything that we needed and was very comfortable. Location was excellent on the western side of Dartmoor, can walk out onto the moors more or less straight from the property, and with just short drives to many more different walks across the moors, amazing wide open spaces. Getting stocked up with provisions for the week was not an issue with a well stocked CO-OP at Yelverton or larger Tesco or Morrisons at Tavistock and there's plenty of pubs in the area. Can recommend the Walkhampton inn at Walkhampton and the Drake Manor inn at Buckland Monachorum.

Mr Sims

Well furnished and well maintained cottage. Very comfortable and well equipped. Lovely host who was friendly and helpful yet valued our privacy. Nice to have walks straight from the door. Very relaxing stay. Thank you!

Ms Arnell

We loved our stay at Huckworthy. A delightful cottage, spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, in peaceful surroundings and perfectly positioned to explore Dartmoor with walks from the door. The local village pub was excellent too!

Mrs Smith

Our third visit; a fantastic break with wonderful weather. The property is, as always, spotlessly clean with everything you need - the croissants and jam were lovely, an instant breakfast ! Hope to return next spring

Mrs Long

Peaceful, rural setting. Very comfortable and well appointed cottage. Lovely welcome pack. Good walking right from the property.

Ms Dunne

A surprise holiday for my partner’s 60th. Welcomed with a gorgeous box of Cornish chocolates from the staff at Classic Cottages and lots of other lovely welcome treats. A warm, cosy and beautiful cottage offering pure solitude & luxury. Set in a lovely wooded area with surrounding fields and easy walk up to the moors and tors. We were frequently accompanied by Tess the owners dog who we were sad to say bye bye too. Our dog made a friend there too! Owners lovely & friendly and left us in peace to enjoy the peace. Family came to stay in the other two cottages which were equally outstanding. I’m sure we will all be back.

Mrs Cunha

Great scenery, quiet and relaxing. Me and my husband had a much needed break from our routine, the owners live close by but respected our privacy. I Loved the owners dog"Tessa", so sweet and playful. The welcome pack was much appreciated, Overall a great experience that we are looking forward to repeat very soon.

Mrs Hamilton

Excellent well equipped cottage in idyllic surroundings. The cleanliness was superb. The welcome gifts were very much appreciated too. Would definitely recommend Huckworthy to family and friends!

Mrs Smith

Beautiful cottage: spotlessly clean, well equipped and fantastically comfortable bed ! Quiet, peaceful location with easy access to the open moor - lanes leading to cottage are narrow with poor visibility in places; not the time to meet a farm tractor !! Owners on site, but not in sight, have friendly well behaved dog. Our second visit and will return next year.

Miss Beaven

Huckworthy was idyllic. The cottage is so nicely done and the surroundings are just beautiful. We were delighted with everything about our stay and really didn't want to leave. Reading other reviews, in case you are worried about the lanes, it was absolutely fine in a VW Tiguan.

Mrs Hunt

A very peaceful location with great walks from the door, including a quiet lane walk to the village pub. The cottage is full of character and is beautifully decorated and fitted out. It had all we needed for a perfect holiday. We enjoyed afternoon tea in the garden’s sun-trap with views of the magnolias and daffodils in flower. We will certainly be returning!

Mrs Trueman

I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone, but expect to travel if you want to be near a beach, not that it was an issue for us we just needed a complete break with peace and quiet, the cottage was in a lovely setting.

Mrs Baulsom

The property was above and beyond our expectations. Very comfortable with exceptional decor, furnishings, lighting and a very well equipped kitchen. Some lovely personal additions from the owners, who were friendly and very, very helpful. The guide to the cottage was detailed and very informative. Very, very pleased with this cottage and almost don't want to recommend it in case it gets overbooked and we can't go back! We certainly intend to return.

mr White

We liked everything about this property, the decor, the location, the privacy. We also loved the narrow lanes around the property and the fact that you are basically on the Moores straight out of your front door...! Absolutely recommended.

Mr Goundry

It’s a lovely property in a wonderful spot and an excellent base from which to discover Dartmoor. The owner is welcoming and there if needed. We didn’t need the owner as the property is well equipped and information supplied answered any questions we might have had. Highly recommended and we will very likely return.

Mrs Cartlidge

Fantastic cottage, warm and cosy with many walking and cycling routes direct from the front door. Would highly recommend and I'll definitely be back for another stay.

Miss Fulgoni

This is a beautifully appointed cottage, with everything you could need for a week away. We’ve stayed in many self-catering properties across Europe and this was the best yet! The kitchen was so well stocked, we struggled to find anything missing that we’d have in our own kitchen even things you’d forget like baking paper, cling film and foil! The owners are so thoughtful to provide lovely details like underfloor heating and logs/firelighters for the wood burner, a coffee machine with a milk frother as well as eco friendly products and treats like croissants, wine and organic milk to welcome you. They were really friendly made sure to say hello and told us to call them if we needed anything. The cottage was wonderfully warm, peaceful and cozy. The countryside and towns nearby were great to explore. We’d love to return soon.

Mr Wall

Fantastic place to stay. It has everything you need and is very well equipped. Everything has been done to a very high standard. Great kitchen, effective under floor heating, and an amazing bathroom. It's a really comfortable, cosy place for two and we felt instantly at home. The wood burner is an added bonus. The location is perfect if you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay. We stayed for the weekend and were able to walk on both days without taking the car. We will definitely be back.

Miss Brookes

We had the most loveliest week staying in Huckworthy cottage. It is beautifully done out with everything you need. The bed and sofa is very comfy, the shower is amazing, the log burner was a lovely addition and the location to explore Dartmoor was perfect. We will definitely be returning.

Miss Coles

The roads leading up to the cottage & the surrounding areas are narrow as expected as we read the previous reviews. But not as narrow as we expected them to be, if it helps people to judge we have a ford eco sport & we got around the lanes no problem.

Ms Mason

We were so pleased with everything about our stay at Huckworthy. They were brilliant hosts, very friendly and didn’t hesitate to offer recommendations for walks or things to do in the area. The property was just stunning and we’ll hopefully return in the summer with a bigger group to enjoy the stunning area of Dartmoor. Many thanks!

Mrs Sunderland

Excellent "bijou" property. The owners have thought of everything and are on site to answer any queries.

Mrs Wignall

Amazing Dartmoor cottage with every need catered for. Lovely big comfy bed and great shower. Bottle of wine on arrival was very nice.

Mrs Taylor

This is a wonderful cottage for two. A superb location that was so quiet and private, it felt like a real hide away! Both Luke and Marsha were lovely hosts and respected the Covid meet and greet changes but also made sure they offered any help we may need at any time. Fixtures and fittings were all high end finishes and the cottage was super comfortable. We will definitely return.

Mr Mason

Beautiful property with access to great walks and stunning scenery. Be aware the last mile leading to the cottage is down some very narrow, winding lanes lined with stone walls. Access could prove challenging for some drivers. A smaller car would be an advantage here!

Mr Holden

Our second stay. Very enjoyable. Great cottage, great location.

Miss Rattigan

Such a lovely cottage. Remote, well kept, and well furnished. A perfect getaway from a busy city life. We had a fabulous time.

Mr Knapp

Having stayed in many cottages throughout Europe and the UK I can say that this is the best cottage we have ever stayed in. The cottage was very well designed and equipped, we felt home immediately we arrived. The owners Masha and Luke got the information / meet & greet just right. The location is perfect, great relaxing walks from the front door, and very short drives (5-6 miles) to some interesting locations like The Garden House, Tavistock and walks along the river Walkham further down stream. Dartmoor is not a part of the UK we have visited, it very nice without being too 'touristy' so we will certainly be back.

Ms Baum

Huckworthy is a charming cottage set in the beautiful Dartmoor countryside. The cottage is so well equipped with everything needed for a perfect stay and the owners (who are lovely) are very helpful being nearby but it also feels extremely private. The local pub was open again which was fantastic and it all felt very "normal" given we were there on the first weekend that Covid restrictions relaxed. Can't recommend this cottage highly enough.

Miss Hardy

Another lovely stay at Huckworthy. The hosts are truly lovely people who go out of their way to ensure you have the best time. Thanks to them!

Mr Trim

Only met the owners briefly, but they were very friendly and welcoming - It really is a lovely cottage, we had a fab few days away! Finished to a high standard, extremely clean and all the little touches made it a special stay. Cannot fault! Thankyou so much! Ps- The roads to the location are quite small and bumpy, luckily I live in the country side so am used to it, but if you're used to city life, i can imagine it to be a little stressful!

Mr Holden

Lovely break over New Year. Cottage very comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful walks straight from cottage. The goodies awaiting us on arrival were very much appreciated, really nice touch. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Mrs Wright

Beautifully finished barn conversion with access to plenty of walks in Dartmoor direct from the property.

Mr Harmes

Beautiful location. Extremely well furnished cottage. Luke and Masha plus Tess were so accommodating. We had a great time walking out from the cottage.

Mr Carter

Don't tell anyone else about the cottage as it will get too booked and we want to stay again.

Mrs Simms

A beautifully finished and superbly equipped cottage in a gorgeous location. Ideal for walks from the door step and exploring the West Devon area. We loved our week here and already planning a return visit.

mrs Scott-Brooker

Lovely setting and well equipped warm little cottage. However the approach to the cottage is by VERY narrow roads and these are not suitable for larger vehicles. Damage from the overhanging hedgerow is Unavoidable and We scratched our car several times and also had to reverse for approx half a mile down a one track windy road to give way to tractors etc on more than one occasion. This should be mentioned as it can affect your enjoyment and stay and it may have meant we either took a smaller car or decided against it. Would have been perfect if not for this issue and it will unfortunately stop us from returning I’m afraid. If this is not an issue for you then the cottages all look lovely and are well decorated and kept and are in a remote quiet setting off the beaten track.

Mrs Gardiner

I think everything has already been said about this property and we concur with all the comments, its simply fabulous and the location is idyllic, another Classic Cottage we will be only too thrilled to return to.

Mrs Skilton

A lovely getaway cottage to stay in. Try the walk to Princetown, great when the weather is good!!

Mrs Dainton

Huckworthy lived up to our expectations. It was very tastefully decorated, modern, clean, and warm (it was November outside!) Finishing touches on our arrival were welcoming, flowers, croissants, wine and fruit. Overall a comfortable stay, a mile or so to nearest pub and post office, and Tavistock only 4 miles away. Owners very pleasant and didn’t disturb us, but we knew they were close by if we needed anything. A wonderful break.

Miss Hardy

We had a lovely stay at Huckworthy. The position of the cottage means you could walk on to Dartmoor every day and see new places. We loved how cosy it was with the fire and underfloor heating and enjoyed our evenings in watching tv and eating local cheese and chutneys that we picked up from Tavistock. It’s an amazing place that is the perfect size for two people. Thank you for a brilliant holiday.

Mr Mather

A fantastic stay, very modern and well maintained property. Very friendly owners and awesome location.

Mr Christofides

A beautifully presented cottage in an ideal location for Dartmoor and other places of interest. Welcoming host. Would highly recommend.

Mr Mills

If you want a relaxed comfortable stay... Look no further!

Mrs Brown

We had a perfect long weekend at Huckworthy - the cottage is very well presented and spotless, and also very well equipped. We will definitely recommend to friends and family and would love to return soon.

Mr Limmer

Luxury accommodation in beautiful surroundings Owners very helpful 5 stars all round

Mr Davies

Overall, an excellent cottage experience for us. Huckworthy is very well situated within Dartmoor - all of the main attractions are within a 30 minute drive. The cottage itself is warm, comfortable, modern, well equipped and a great place to totally relax.

Mrs Reaney

It is the best cottage we have been in and we found Luke and Masha very friendly and helpful. Luke helped me when I had a blow out and not only helped me change the wheel but also gave me clear directions of the local ATS garage. We would definetely go back and Luke did show us the other cottages in case more family wanted to come. We went out in the day and usually relaxed and cooked local food in the evening. Although my holiday seems long gone I will have warm memories of this one for a long time to come. Thank You

Mr Wilson

Luke and Masha were the nicest hosts and made us feel very welcome. Their attention to detail was most impressive, with lovely touches to greet us on our arrival; flowers in every room, a lovely bottle of wine and a tasty selection of cheeses and milk. We would highly recommend!

Mr Arbesser

It exceeded our expectations. Everything was first class! The cottage is beautiful, the owner couple was lovely and helpful, all the animals were lovely, the place is an oasis for stressed-out urbanites.

Ms Mangham

This is a beautiful high spec property - it was like staying in a 5 star hotel! a fantastic location especially if you are planning a walking holiday - great walks on your doorstep and so peaceful. I highly recommend it.

Miss Bibby

Huckworthy cottage was a beautiful hideaway, we spent most of our time relaxing in the cottage. What was a brilliant surprise is that the local supermarket is only 15 minutes away and the owner also have a book stocked full of recommended local shops. The cottage held the heat really well there wasn't a single time we got cold. We also did a bit of stargazing and you won't be disappointed it was amazing. I can't recommend this place enough, it's a perfect for a retreat to the countryside.

Mr Turnbull

Charming, modern and spotless

Mrs Hopkins

Possibly one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. Very high spec. Lovely touches on arrival at the cottage of wine, fruit, cheese, milk, home made bread and flowers. Quiet location and plenty of places to visit not too far away. Supermarkets within 10 minute drive.

Miss Braune

Huckworthy has been elegantly and efficiently equipped to a first class standard which makes a stay in this unblemished location both relaxing and memorable.

Mr Byatt

This is a lovely hideaway, tucked into the valley with easy access to walking and cycling on Dartmoor. The rooms are immaculate and we received a great welcome.

Mr Gatrill

On arrival Luke & Masha were there to greet us and explain the set up,and after a long drive it was a lovely to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and put our feet up and relax in what is a beautifully thought out country cottage " Top Marks" Martyn & Jane

Miss Charles

A lovely little cottage set in woodland perfect for any couple who enjoys tranquility. Encompasses an exceptionally clean, modern setting within the surrounding countryside. Very thoughtful owners whom provided their own produce, fresh fruit and bread, wine and flowers upon arrival. They were also very private, but accessible if need be, respecting us but also being friendly. Additionally, a folder containing local restaurants, takeaways, walks etc was provided upon arrival helping us organise our stay. Also, a fantastic internet connection for somewhere so remote. Highly recommended!

Miss Wright

It is a lovely modern cottage in a beautiful location just inside Dartmoor National Park. Long walks right from your front door and close to Tavistock and Yelverton. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering so we ate in every night! Would highly recommend to a couple looking for a small romantic hideaway.
