Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Scott

A beautiful cottage in a picturesque setting. Spotlessly clean and spacious. Well equipped and very comfortable. Lots of lovely places to visit with a great pub and shop nearby.

Mrs Malin

The property is very well presented, lovely furnishings and good quality bed and bed linens. Extremely well equipped, and very dog friendly. Having direct access to the utility room is a great feature for a wet dog on soggy days!! Great to have a pub and shop within walking distance. Would highly recommend.

Miss Dallimore

Beautiful, spacious and immaculately presented cottage set in a very friendly village with an excellent pub and village shop. Ideally situated with easy access to the moors. Very nice cream tea in the welcome pack. Will definitely visit again!

Mrs Axton

Fabulous cottage in Dartmoor! We spent a delightful Christmas here as a family. The house is warm, comfortable and well appointed. We even had a Christmas tree! Comfortable beds, excellent sheets, quiet area. Couldn’t ask for more. We will absolutely be back. Thank you!

Mrs Peters

This is the second time I’ve stayed in this quaint cottage. Its location is beautiful and the house is spotlessly clean as well as all the cosy winter vibes. This cottage is the perfect little countryside retreat.

Mrs jefferies

Beautiful property fitted out to a very high standard. Wonderful place to stay with everything you could want.

Miss Lewis

This is my second retreat at The Old Post Office. It’s a beautifully appointed cottage with plenty of space and all the creature comforts. With access to the moors being a very short walk away and plenty of walks from the doorstep, this is an ideal place to stay. The owners are very welcoming and on hand if anything was needed. Imagine a day of hiking the rugged beauty of Dartmoor, followed by a soak in the beautiful clawed feet bath in the bathroom, or a hot shower, then a glass of wine in front of a roaring fire and even a meal out at any one of the nearby pubs or restaurants - this is what this wonderful accommodation offers. Perfection.

Miss harris

The old post office surpassed our expectations. It’s the most well equipped cottage we’ve stayed at (and we stay at a lot). Beautifully decorated throughout, the main bathroom is to die for! Massive bed in the master suite, all you could wish for in the very smart kitchen. Heaps of local info in the welcome folder, a cream tea was left for us along with fresh flowers and milk in the fridge. Such lovely personal touches make such a difference. The village is small and peaceful with the community store staffed by very friendly locals who were so helpful and the village pub was also fab we even went to the quiz night which we loved. Only minutes from bovey tracey which has more amenities if needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to rebook soon.

Mr Huckett

Second time back at the Old Post Office and although the weather was poor a lot of the time, it was a very enjoyable and comfortable stay again. Great location and lovely friendly pub down the road. What's not to like!

Mrs Burns

Great location, every comfort and bonus of shop and pub witin a couple of minutes walk.

Mrs Roberts

The Old Post Office is wonderful house to stay in. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished and has everything you could need if you want that home from home experience (even down to toothpicks!). The owner Rachel was very helpful and kind. The house is in a good location to visit lots of well known beaches, including dog friendly ones, as well as pretty Devon towns.

Mrs Young

I would throughly recommend this beautiful cottage in a stunning location. We had a wonderful holiday and didn't want to leave!

Mrs Lester

Most important we had a wonderful week in The Old Post Office - it really was home from home. Thank you Classic Cottages’ team.

Mrs Bird

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at The Old Post Office. A lovely, spacious and well-equipped cottage. The master bedroom and ensuite in particular are pure luxury! The cream tea and fresh roses on arrival were a nice touch, as well as the bed, bowls and treats for our dog. Great location in terms of places to visit, with the moor just a short drive away. Idyllic churchyard next door and a really welcoming dog-friendly pub just around the corner (Carpenters Arms). We will hopefully be back in future and will certainly use Classic Cottages again based on this experience.

Mr Huckett

A high quality and very comfortable house in a sleepy little village that has great access to Dartmoor - many an evening spent up at Haytor watching the sun go down. The village has a very friendly pub and a local village shop for those essentials. House is very well equipped and furnished to a high standard. Would highly recommend!

Dr Dawood

Beautiful property with brilliant amenities. Was better than we expected and would definitely book again. Cosy evenings. Gorgeous master bathroom and lots of hanging storage for clothes (we came for a wedding so this was important for suits etc). Thoroughly recommend. Brilliant value.

Mr Reid

A wonderful cottage in a beautiful part of Dartmoor. Thanks to the owners for the lovely cream tea on arrival. We all had a great time

Mrs Lawton

We all agreed we would happily book The Old Post Office again. Fabulous value for money, great location, lovely cottage, perfect for an autumn or winter break.

Dr Beard

A lovely, comfortable and well-equipped cottage in this small interesting and friendly village on the edge of Dartmoor. The cottage retains great character after being refurbished to a high standard with high quality fixtures and fittings.

Mrs Gommers

We recommend this beautiful cottage!

Mr Dines

A warm welcome from the owner, both through provisions and availability and flexibility on arrival. The cottage is obviously loved and cared for, easy the feeling of belonging for us as guests. All within a charming, living village, and within easy reach of parts of Dartmoor and excellent walking.

Mrs Jones

A fabulous cottage. Well equipped, clean & very comfortable. Would recommend & consider a return break.

Mrs Smith

Such a relaxing week celebrating my husbands 50th in this beautiful cottage. Light a fire in the evenings after a hot bubble bath in the amazing ensuite and pour a glass of wine. The only alarm clock here is the sound of the Church Bells on a Sunday morning amazing! Great location too. Lovely pub around the corner too! They were so friendly and even put up banners for my husbands 50th!! We will be back!!!

Mrs Pascoe

Another wonderful stay at The Old Post Office - can't wait to return!

Ms Weekes

I would recommend this cottage for the luxury feel and location. The Carpenters Arms was welcoming and the food was excellent. We have used other Holiday cottage firms but I have found, now having booked the last three cottages with Classic, that the glossy photos used to promote the cottages actually live up to our expectations and will only used Classic Cottages in the future.

Mrs Mann

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday despite the unreliable weather. It was good to get back to the cottage in the evening and relax. The kitchen was well appointed with everything that we needed, so we could cook on occasions too. The area is lovely and there are lots more for us to see. The residents in the village were very friendly and made us feel welcome and we would certainly use the cottage again. We did have an issue with the heating control as the weather changed, but we were able to contact the owners direct who were very friendly and were able to advise us what to do. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and Classic Cottages

Mr O'Brien

We had a lovely stay at the Old Post Office. It was an excellent cottage that I would recommend to anyone.

Miss Lewis

My stay at The Old Post Office was a much needed retreat and the house exceeded my expectations.... This is a beautifully appointed cottage in a picturesque village in Dartmoor with a pub and shop a few minutes stroll away. The magic of Hay Tor and Hound Tor were a fabulous short hike away and how lucky we were to enjoy such glorious weather too. I felt looked after by the owners with everything thought of for a relaxing stay. The master bedroom and its en-suite are simply stunning and the kitchen set up does allow for social cooking with a nice glass of something chilled and fizzy. As for the view of the church behind the cottage - wow! Everything was perfect. Thank you to the owners for such a wonderful retreat!

Mrs Holliss

We liked the arrival welcome afternoon tea and roses. Thank you. Very comfortable bed. Homely property. Log burner for cold days is nice. When heating is on during colder months the utility drying room is a bonus. Decent cooking facilities. Great location for walking in Dartmoor and breakfast/teas at The Cafe on the Green in Widecombe in the Moor. We have stayed here several times and have re-booked for March 22. A small plumbing issue was dealt with quickly by the owner and a gesture of goodwill payment organised through Classic for any inconvenience. Very efficient and considerate. Thank you.

Mrs Sherwood

Beautiful cottage, comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. Helpful info provided in cottage, books, map etc. Friendly and helpful service only a call away if needed. Lovely location and easy to access Haytor and surrounding areas.

Mr White

A wonderful large cottage in an idyllic village location with decor and fittings to a very high, modern standard. The air con was also a very pleasant surprise, given the high temperatures when we visited in mid July 2021! Thoroughly recommended.

Mrs Holliss

Delightful cottage close to lovely Dartmoor walks and visiting the Cafe on the Green in Widecombe for breakfast, lunch or afternoon teas. Very comfortable sleeps on the super king bed. We appreciated the welcome pack - afternoon tea and roses on arrival. Very clean and welcoming cottage. We will be back for our next (4th) visit in September.

Mr Wilson

This is a great cottage in a lovely Dartmoor village. Owners have refurbished to a very high level. Well situated for walks and drives around Dartmoor and the coast. Lovely pub and village shop 2 minutes walk away.

mrs orves

Lovely clean, comfortable, well equipped cottage in a fabulous village. Shop and pub nearby.

Mrs Scott

Highly recommend Great location Friendly village Home from home comforts

Mrs Critchlow

Fantastic place to stay. Perfect for a young family but had a feeling of being a really special holiday home. Loved it!

Mrs Morgan

when we had a problem with a blocked drain iit was easy to contact the housekeeper who attended promptly solve the problem

Mrs Holliss

We have enjoyed staying at this lovely cottage twice now (the second time after the new owners took over). It is comfortable and clean. Convenient location for walking on Dartmoor. Two of us stay and our son and partner come to join us there for meals (socially distanced). It is cosy and homely. Very welcoming. We appreciated the tea tray and flowers as a welcome. Very comfortable super king bed and decent showers. We will stay again.

Mr Dines

Spacious, comfortable, well-equipped house in the heart of a living village on the edge of Dartmoor. The village of Ilsington is a gem. The Carpenters' Arms and village store create a hub of community energy. The village itself is within 30 minutes' walk of the national park, and less than 10 minutes off the A38 south Devon expressway. This is our second time to enjoy this property and location - we hope to be back!

Mrs Pascoe

Our second visit to this fantastic property - really warm and comfortable, perfect for out of season breaks. The location is brilliant - an easy drive to the south Devon coast for a day at Greenway, seconds to the lovely local pub and endless walks from the doorstep. Would recommend the Sunday carvery at Tinpickle and Rhum, up at the Moorland Hotel at Haytor. We'll be back.

Mrs Leckey

We loved this cottage and were very impressed with the standard of fittings and furnishings. The location is also great, with a friendly pub next door and a handy village shop. Wonderful scenery and walks nearby, and great little town of Bovey Tracey has everything you might need for shopping.

Mrs Maddison

The Old Post Office was a truly outstanding place for us to stay and explore the beautiful county of Devon. The facilities, cleanliness, decor and homely feeling was first class.

Mr Sinclair

Very well located in a friendly village. Cottage has quality fixtures and fittings which made a big impact on how we settled in and we could therefore be prepared to honestly recommend it.

Mrs Weston

This cottage was perfect, wonderful views from the upper bedrooms, beautifully furnished and equipped. Very handy for the pub and village shop, both of which are excellent, plus of course its close proximity to the Moor. We will return! Thank you Classic Cottages!

Mrs Wedlake

Beautiful cottage on the edge of Dartmoor. Very clean and comfortable, beautiful master bedroom and en-suite. Very unusual not to have any sort of welcome tray, not even a teabag!!! Also needs more local info and a guest book so that visitors can leave tips for other guests.

Mr Burgess

The property was very well presented and very clean. The location was ideal for days out and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Mrs Wiliams

The cottage is exceptionally well furnished and looked after. Only slight difficulty for us as a family with grown up children the beds/rooms on top floor are very compact. We did however love the cottage.

Mr Dines

An extremely comfortable and tastefully refurbished cosy old house in a thriving village on the edge of Dartmoor. Great for walkers and those who enjoy a convivial village atmosphere.

Mr Holmes

Enjoyed our stay, however, on arriving we were surprised to find no welcome details or small supplies/local produce. Unusual considering we have stayed at cheaper properties and had this provided. Plus there is a fantastic shop in the village supplying local produce. Certain kitchen items were not clean including stained tea towels, lipstick stained glasses and dirty crockery. On the whole the property is in a lovely location and does everything you require of it. For the price, I believe, it’s set up more like an Airbnb and missing the home comforts associated with a luxury holiday cottage.

Mr Williams

A warm, comfortable and delightful cottage in a peaceful village. The home is well equipped and beautifully furnished. Ideally placed for a Devon getaway!

Mr Hayes

Superb cottage with plenty of space for family and friends. Beautifully decorated. You will not want to leave!

Mrs Kolirin

We had a really great time at the old post office. Lovely village location and a very well equipped cottage.

Ms Muehlhoff

We have been staying in cottages around Bovey for many years and this was by far the best. We felt very much at home and enjoyed the tasteful design and the attention to detail. We would love to come again.

Mrs Pascoe

A lovely cottage, well decorated with good quality furnishings and very well equipped. Toasty, warm and comfortable on even the wettest Dartmoor day, and masses of hot water for a soak in that lovely tub. The pub is moments away with very friendly landlords and customers. Would recommend and re-visit in a flash.

Mrs Jones

The most accommodating and welcoming hosts. Stunning property.
