Walk into this gorgeous cottage and find your perfect stay in Northumberland. With so much space for you and your family and friends, this is the ideal place to relax at the end of a busy day exploring the beaches and castles on your doorstep.

Once inside choose from the cosy snug or the bright and airy sitting-room, after making a meal in the modern kitchen and sharing food in the separate dining-room. Or why not dine al fresco, either on the garden bench with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, or tucked away on the private patio. While away a few hours curled up on the corner sofa with a good book, or just watching the sheep in the fields nearby while the young ones play happily in the upstairs playroom with plenty of toys and a dressing up box. The young pirates can get ready to storm nearby Bamburgh castle.

When night times comes around, you have the choice of retiring to the downstairs king-size bedroom with the family bathroom next door, or there's a double and a 'zip and link' room on the first floor. The double room is accessed through the playroom.

Customer reviews

Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed at this property.

Mrs Kohut

This property was very clean and comfortable. It was very convenient for self-catering; there was a fully equipped kitchen/laundry and the beds were comfortable. There is a fantastic conservatory for evenings at home with incredible country views. We wanted a very quiet and tranquil holiday and this property was the perfect solution. It is very close to many Northumberland attractions so there is something new to do every day. There is a designated parking space close to the unit. We would definitely stay here again.

Ms French

This is a lot of cottage for your money. It has everything you could want and easy access to the wonderful beaches and many other attractions.

Ms Chibnall

We loved Barleycorn cottage. It exceeded our expectations. It is a lovely character cottage but very sympathetically modernised Very conveniently located just off A1, it is very spacious and the owners have obviously thought carefully about what is provided. The enclosed garden is very nice to have and the sun room is a great family space. 2 bathrooms is a real luxury. Everything we wanted to visit whether some of the many amazing sandy beaches or the wonderful hill walks all seem less than half an hour away. We hope very much to be able to return soon.

Mrs Mulholland

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were blessed with amazing weather.

Mrs McCRORIE

Lovely family cottage, would suit mainly family with up to 4 children Sunroom is a wonderful family space with the snug providing a bolt hole for those who need time out. Lots of great villages and places of interest within 15 to 30 minutes drive but a car is a must. Dog friendly to a point as no actual dog walks nearby.

Mr Sullivan

This is a lovely, well equipped cottage with lots of space. It's in a great location close to the main road, but not noisy, and in a perfect spot to easily reach the main visitor attractions. We visited Holy Island, Alnwick and Bamburgh Castles, all within 15 mins. Enjoyed fish and chips takeaway at Seahouses and a walk on Bamburgh beach. We had a great short break and would consider staying again as more to see in the wider area.
